Prepare to get really rural: Campion, our very special luxury safari tent, is glamorous camping with a difference. Set in an unspoilt, quiet meadow in beautiful north Cornwall, it enjoys fabulous countryside views as well as lovely shared picnic areas by a babbling brook (which is fenced but please do take care with children), a trampoline and a fire-pit.
The furthest of three (the other two being Honeysuckle and Celandine), Campion is set in its own sheltered space, on a raised wooden deck with a barbecue and picnic table to the side. There is plenty of room for six in a double, a twin and a double den bedroom (all featuring comfy beds and gorgeous linens), the kitchen-area is furnished with everything you will need, including a log-fired range for cooking as well as heating, and the shower-room has a double-size shower, a flushing WC and a wash-basin.
Lanes full of wildflowers lead you to Campion, in the heart of the rolling Cornish countryside. Once arrived, transfer your luggage to a wheelbarrow and meander along the mown paths to your tent, where seven steps (and a safety gate) lead to a large raised wooden deck with its fabulous views.
Inside, the kitchen is well thought-out, with a fridge (plus small freezer), sink, kettle and plenty of storage, and there is a comfy sofa and a dining-table and chairs to relax in. An insulated floor ensures toasty warmth whatever the temperature outside. Look out for the friendly free-range chickens which belong to the owners who live close by; you will also find an honesty-shop on site, where everyday items and local treats are for sale.
The children will love it here: there are plenty of beaches within a half hour or so drive, and just down the road is New Mills Farm Park, which offers a pets corner, swings, slides, ride-on toys and more, including an excellent cafe where you can buy takeaways as well as eating in. There is even a little steam train that chugs to and from Launceston station. Or simply stay at home and get together for a toasted marshmallow around the fire-pit, enjoy an al fresco meal by the river or simply enjoy the lack of light pollution and while away the hours counting the stars.
