Just a mile from the superb surfing waves and glorious sandy beaches at Perranporth, this fabulous Georgian farmhouse is the perfect holiday location for big family gatherings and groups of friends. The huge kitchen/dining-room is the hub of the house, with a wood-burner in the dining-area and doors out to the terraced garden and meadow. The sitting-room is a chill-out zone, chic and luxurious with velvet sofas, deep armchairs and a warming wood-burner, while the family/games-room has a pool table, big wall-mounted television and huge corner sofa large enough to seat everyone for family film evenings or all-important football matches. A walk-in wet-room with twin drench-head showers and a drying rack for wetsuits is wonderful after trips to the beach, and the whole downstairs is warmed by under-floor heating from a ground source heat pump, with solar thermal panels providing oodles of hot water (all backed up by an impressive boiler system and radiators upstairs). There are seven superbly comfortable bedrooms, five with en suite facilities and two sharing the family bathroom and a shower-room below. Found in the little hamlet of Bolingey, Trevellance is just a short walk from the charming Bolingey Inn which serves local beers and excellent food.
At the front of the south-facing house is a knot garden planted with herbs, a wonderfully aromatic place to sit with a coffee or glass of wine. The big back garden has a walled outdoor dining-area and adjoins four acres of gently sloping meadow and an enclosed orchard so there’s plenty of space for children to safely roam. Inside, the splendid kitchen/dining-room is the place to be: it has a vintage dresser housing all the crockery and glassware, and a dishwasher at this end of the big island unit which allows the table to be cleared with ease. The drinks corner houses a wine fridge for keeping the fizzy chilled and space for preparing those essential holiday tipples. The business end of the kitchen has an electric range cooker, a second dishwasher and a big American-style fridge/freezer. This is a fantastic room for entertaining, so why not hire a private chef to cater for that special dinner party or long, leisurely lunch? (Contact us for details). Perranporth has a small supermarket, cafes, pubs, restaurants and ice cream parlours as well as all the usual trappings of a traditional seaside town. If you want to explore further afield there are five more renowned surfing beaches within ten miles, coastal footpaths offering spectacular views and granite mine buildings clinging to the cliffs, the majestic relics of Cornwall’s tin-mining past.
