Close to the meandering waters of Devoran Creek, this charming cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished to offer the utmost comfort and relaxation. Tucked in a peaceful courtyard with creekside walks and a fabulous village pub only a stones throw away, Stable Cottage makes for a fabulous holiday.
The open plan living-room on the first floor has exposed beams, original floorboards and large windows allowing the light to flood in. The large corner sofa wraps around the contemporary wood-burner and is where you can relax while chatting to the designated chef or linger while someone brings you a glass of wine. The well-equipped kitchen will fulfil your every need to cook up a Cornish feast or perhaps visit the local pub which offers tasty food. The recently opened cafe just along the old tramway has delicious cakes too.
The bedrooms on the ground floor are decorated in lovely calming coastal tones and with crisp linens, the master bedroom has French windows opening onto a private courtyard where you could almost be in the Mediterranean and where you can enjoy listening to the bird song. The second bedroom offers 'zip and link' (king-size or 2'6" twin) beds suitable for friends or families coming to stay. There is also a sheltered terrace to the front of the cottage which is lovely for a barbecue or alfresco meal. The family bathroom and separate cloakroom are also on the ground floor.
Devoran is a lovely village of terraced cottages, elegant Georgian houses and wonderful creekside walks; herons, curlew and oystercatchers can be seen at low tide and swans nest on the riverbank. The delightful owners of Stable Cottage provide crabbing lines, buckets and spades, games and books which are available for the children (and adults) - all the little extras that make a holiday home really special.
This is a fabulous location in which to explore much of Cornwall with many stunning coastal footpaths around Falmouth and the Lizard peninsula within a few miles. Gardeners will find inspiration at the National Trust's Trelissick Gardens just up the road, at the on-going restoration of Enys Gardens or in the wonderful sub-tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan on the Helford River.
Just a couple of miles from the Cathedral City of Truro and only slightly further from the beaches, marinas and shops of the historic maritime town of Falmouth, this lovely cottage offers a wonderful base for easy exploring. With the surfing beaches and magnificent clifftop walks on the north coast less than half an hour's drive away and the nearby King Harry Ferry crossing the River Fal to the sheltered creeks and white sandy beaches of the Roseland peninsula, there is sure to be something to suit everybody.
