High above the Axe estuary, this hidden retreat is just a short walk from the South West Coast Path along the stunning east Devon and west Dorset Jurassic Coast.
Steps lead down from the parking-area to a private terrace, where French windows take you into the open plan living area of this ground floor bolthole. There is also a peaceful garden for guests tucked behind the property.
The River Axe is at the foot of the very steep road leading to Little Woodlands, and is home to a wonderful bird sanctuary. Seaton’s harbour and pebble beach are also within walking distance.
Little Woodlands is set in a wooded hillside behind the owners’ home in the original coastguards’ cottages.
The lane beyond Little Woodlands leads to the golf course where guests are welcome to use the bar and restaurant. You can also use the golfing facilities, at cost, if you wish.
A path leads from the owners’ gardens directly onto the coastal path to Lyme Regis so this really is a perfect base for walkers. This part of east Devon is very much unspoilt, with lovely countryside inland and the beaches and fishing villages all along the coast.
To the west visit Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton – each with their own distinctive character. To the east you have Lyme Regis and the wide expanse of Lyme Bay. Beyond that is Charmouth – famous for its fossils, Golden Cap - Dorset’s most iconic landmark and the amazing cliffs at West Bay, Bridport – made famous in the Broadchurch series on TV.

Steps lead down to Little Woodlands - the ground floor of this detached building. No-one lives on the first floor (it is the owner's storage space) so you will not be disturbed.
There is a terrace outside the front door. This leads on to the garden behind the cottage where guests can relax in privacy.
The harbour is just at the foot of the hill leading to Little Woodlands - your lane is in the trees in the background.
The little sitting-area has a flat screen TV with a Blu-ray DVD player and French windows opening onto the private terrace.
The kitchen is really well-equipped and has all that you need for a very comfortable stay.
