This delectably simple little pied-a-terre, set midway between both coasts, makes an ideal base for exploring Cornwall.
The private south-facing garden, with its handy shed for bikes, boots and surfboards, is perfect for relaxing – and perhaps meeting the owners’ two friendly cats. This compact hideaway discreetly adjoins the owners’ home and their lovingly tended garden, and allotment. The cosy living-room has a small kitchen and partially-screened sleeping-area (please mind the step) and the ingeniously designed shower-room has a ‘hip-bath’ shower-tray enabling you to sit back and soak those hard-worked legs!
Set in a tranquil wooded valley near the village of Stithians within walking distance of the shop and pub, The Workshop is ideal for walkers, cyclists and surfers alike.
Only a short drive away are the old Cornish Mineral Tramways, this 60 kilometre network of signposted mining trails, largely off-road, provide an insight into what was once the largest tin and copper producing area on the planet.
You can join the trails at a number of locations in this unique part of Cornwall, however the nearest will be at Lanner near the old mining town of Redruth. Walking or cycling the trails from here you can pass a disused granite quarry now employed as an open-air theatre and at the top of Carn Marth you can take in the amazing coast to coast view.
Cornwall’s dramatic coastline and its cliffs, coves and picturesque fishing villages to the north and south are all easily reached by car from here, and both Truro and the maritime town of Falmouth are just a 20 minute drive away.
