Seize a unique opportunity and book a stay in this stunning converted pump house on the Somerset/Dorset border, close to the dramatic beaches and clifftop walks of the Jurassic Coast. This exceptional, detached property recently celebrated being 100 years old. Set in its own private meadow, The Pump House is not overlooked by anyone and has wonderful birds and wildlife to spot from your private terrace.

Perfect for couples, this idyllic retreat has double doors into the light-filled open plan ground floor, with its sandstone flagstones, welcoming wood-burner and high quality furnishings. French windows at the far end open out onto the terrace, beneath a lovely pergola and to the meadow beyond.

A bespoke spiral staircase leads up to the oak-floored, galleried bedroom and bathroom. Three dogs are welcome here and there are walks on the doorstep as well as a beautiful, hedged garden dedicated just for you. There is even a secure bike shed for you to use. Guests also have an open invitation to enjoy the delightful gardens of the original manor house and to use the shared tennis court, (available from the 1 April to the 1 October). The local pub and a farm shop (with cafe) both offer free WiFi and are only a short stroll along the lane into the village.

Fling open the French doors to the sunny south-facing patio and sit beneath the oak pergola for an al fresco breakfast or a romantic evening meal. As well as your own wildlife meadow, the gardens of The Manor Farm are a delight to explore and you will come across the sheep, chickens, ducks and cows that live here too!

The Pump House is an easy drive from the stunning Jurassic Coast, where the nearest beach is at West Bay, Bridport – the now famous setting for the television series Broadchurch. In fact, there must be something special about this historic area, as Barrington Court near Ilminster was the setting for the television adaptation of Wolf Hall! For a recuperative day staying put, wander to that quintessential feature of rural England, the village cricket ground, just the other side of the meadow and enjoy a cool Somerset cider whilst watching a match.

For the energetic, a secure bicycle shed is provided for you so you can bring your own bikes and enjoy the Somerset countryside on two wheels. The River Parrett Trail is just a stones throw away and you will find some lovely country pubs to stop off at en route.
