Falmouth is home to an intriguing variety of independent, quirky shops, restaurants and galleries and is a haven for all who may have a persuasion towards the water: sailing, kayaking, paddle-boarding and all manner of watersports' tuition are readily available for the more daring and intrepid types.

As well as the town centre and beaches on the southerly seafront, Swanpool beach and nature reserve are within a scenic half-hour walk. A bird lovers paradise, more than a hundred species of bird have been seen here; mallard can be found at the pool all year round whilst moorhens, coots and little grebes are regular visitors.

Only slightly further afield and within easy reach, the renowned Cornish gardens at Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick are just waiting to be explored, and the surfing beaches and cliff walks of the north coast are less than an hour away.

For an adventure on the water, why not take a trip on one of the regular ferries which run from the nearby Prince of Wales pier to Truro, Flushing, St Mawes and the Helford River; a wonderful way to spot the wildlife, hidden creeks and the flora and fauna so unique to this area.
