Although our experience of the property was disappointing we want to be clear that our dealings with Classic Cottages were nothing short of exemplary. Everyone was polite, courteous and helpful at every stage and this was the fourth time we have booked through them. It was such a shame that this property did not live up to our expectations on this occasion.

We stayed for 5 nights in August having made a last minute booking. The shower wasn’t working (temperature went from scorching hot to freezing and came out like a dribble) and this wasn’t fixed until our last night. The house wasn’t all that clean and when we arrived I spent two hours cleaning the property. We also found the beds quite uncomfortable but that is of course more of a subjective point.

There were a few nights when the temperature at night dropped and we were quite chilly (even though it was August). Whilst the property was quite cold the heating was off and we couldn’t access the heating controls at all (this is all accessed from the neighbouring property). We were subsequently forced to light the Woodburner!

I generally feel like the property needs a general overhaul and ‘freshen up’ as it felt like not much had been done for quite some time. Whilst the property was not advertised as having WiFi, it was quite a surprise when we arrived and there wasn’t any. Everything is just very basic.

Having said all this, the owner was lovely and the setting is absolutely superb. We just felt that if you’re paying over £700 for 5 nights accommodation then unfortunately you do expect more than this property currently offers.

We will not hesitate to use Classic Cottages again but will be sure to make more detailed enquiries next time.

Thanks for your review of Bunnell Cottage. We're pleased that you found the setting superb and the owners welcoming - they've let the cottage with us for many years and guests always tell us how helpful they are. The cottage is furnished in a more traditional style, as reflected in the photos, but we'll certainly pass on your suggestions to make it an even better destination. We're sorry about the problems you experienced with the shower - we can confirm that the unit has since been replaced. We're glad that we could settle on a refund which reflected the inconvenience caused. Alison, Customer Support

A delightful owner will make you feel very welcome. This cottage, although quite simple, is equipped with everything you need and is a in a wonderfully peaceful location, ideally situated for exploring the Helford River and the Lizard Peninsular.

The bonus is the garden that was beautiful, woodpeckers on the bird feeder everyday that kept my son occupied. Although it is shared the owner appeared very tolerant and kids played quite happily.

Perfect country cottage with beautiful garden. Friendly dog for guests to play with. Kindly, pleasant owner.

We had a wonderful week staying in quiet Bunnell Cottage, which was very clean and well equipped especially as we like to self-cater. The owner was always friendly and helpful and gave us full use of her beautiful garden with intruding on us in any way. The area is beautiful with so much to do and see for all ages. We thoroughly enjoyed some stunning beaches, coasteering and cycling.

The owner of the cottage was a very pleasant lady. The laid out tea tray with scones, jam and clotted cream was a nice touch. Also fresh flowers in the rooms was much appreciated by my wife. In the warmth of summer, June to August this cottage would be an ideal venue.

This is a return visit. We have stayed in many cottages, mostly through you and Marlene Hosking is by far the best property owner we have come accross. She makes the holiday really enjoyable and special with the welcoming touches. Nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is lovely and 'homely' and the location is our favourite spot in the country & ideal for visiting the Lizard Peninsular, The Helford River and all of West Cornwall. Doesn't need improving.
