The Lodge is exceptional. One of the best cottages we have stopped in. The garden is also top class and dog proof. Easy distance to many beaches and local attractions. We will return in the future.

The Lodge is absolutely perfect. It exceeded our expectations and the owners have thought of everything.
It is clean, comfortable, and in a lovely location.
The garden is lovely and totally dog proofed. We all had a relaxing, great holiday!

wonderful place and so peaceful, the garden was very restful. We would highly recommend The lodge for a restful holiday. The cottage is equipped with everything you would need. all you could hear was the birds singing, We would recommend this wonderful cottage.

It was fantastic this is our 2nd time we’re stayed at your cottages and next year we’re looking for something again for next year in the same area we hope we just think that classic cottages are the best

Lovely cottage , really unique. Bit of a tardis as was bigger inside than first appeared Owner kindly left some goodies for us and our dog , which were much appreciated.
Place was immaculate, and garden was charming. We enjoyed a walk to St Peters Church and had a great meal at the Chichester Arms. Lots to do in easy reach by car .

The Lodge is a lovely cosy thatched cottage in a quiet village that is well placed for exploring north Devon. The property is well cared for by the owner and we were greeted by a very nice welcome pack including a home-made cake. A great place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet, good countryside, but with the coast within easy reach.

Superb cottage, great garden, totally dog friendly Brilliant quite location No need to buy anything, as all provided Lovely clean cottage Highly recommend

We had a very relaxing stay at The Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed the delightful cottage garden.

Lovely cottage, everything was just perfect.

Had a really lovely time at the Lodge. The cottage is comfortable, clean and communication with Claire ahead and during the the stay was great. The garden is fully dog proofed and secure. Great walks around, very peaceful location. Hopefully we will be returning.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge very much. The garden was beautifully laid out with plants and shrubs and also secure for our four legged friend. The balcony seating area was a sun trap to watch the birds and other visitors to the garden (Pheasant). The Lodge was very well equipped with attention to detail. Also close to beaches, Appledore and Instow in particular and with Tapley Park and gardens close by which was also worth a visit. The welcome treats were also well received.

Secure garden for dogs. Lovely spring planted garden, seating areas, roof terrace complete with seats and fairy lights. Off road parking Very pretty area, easy access to lovely beaches and walks. We"ll be back in the summer...

A wonderful place to stay, beautifully presented, with everything you need and more. Gardens, full of glorious spring flowers with the potential of summer splendour to burst through later. Highly recommend.

The Lodge is an immaculate, well equipped, very pretty property in a quiet, peaceful location. It has everything you need, and is cleverly designed with ample parking. The garden is beautiful. The location is close to Barnstaple and in easy reach of all the delights of North Devon, beautiful coastline, beaches, the Tarka trail and pretty villages. We had a brilliant time even in February- there was plenty to explore and it was lovely to return to a cosy cottage for an evening by the woodburner!

We wanted a break away after a pretty stressful few months, and spotted The Lodge, which was where we wanted to be, after probably 50+ years since we'd been in the Bideford/Westward Ho/Barnstaple area. The Lodge fulfilled all expectations and was comfortable, quiet and really well appointed, with the extra bonus of a really beautiful garden and terrace area, unfortunately our week was pretty soggy and windy, but it didn't detract from our stay, after all it was November.I can definately recommend it,it was a good find.We didn't meet Claire, but she kept in touch to make sure all was OK.

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay in The Lodge. In an excellent position for the coast and other places to visit. The owners have thought about everything that you might need and their welcome goodies were well received! Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet retreat and a very beautiful garden to enjoy.

This is the most beautiful property we have ever stayed in and plan to return in the future. Lovely area, friendly people nearby (but not too close) and the property owners were approachable and helpful. Highly recommend a stay here

Had a wonderful holiday at The Lodge, garden especially was lovely for me & my dog. Very comfy garden furniture provided, and doggy beds etc. Even her own dog bowl and treats. The owner had thought of everything in the cottage that you could possibly want, and tasty scones on arrival + bottle of bubbles, milk etc. All very much appreciated. I can't think of any negatives and I'd definitely stay again. I liked having Sky tv, made it a real home-from-home!

A beautiful fairytale place to stay nestled in Devons green 'quilted' landscape. Very well equipped, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Beautiful cottage garden.

This is a beautiful cottage. It has been decorated to a very high level and is very comfortable. The owners are very helpful. So many beautiful places to visit although it is hard to move out of the very pretty and well kept garden. We will be coming again

Simply perfect for a couple with a dog

We had a lovely week's stay at The Lodge. Very comfortable holiday in a historic building. Would definitely consider another stay. Visited Mortehoe, Westward Ho! We also went to Castle Hill Gardens and unbelievably we were the only visitors that day so had the place to ourselves....but the gardens with their specimen trees, plants, stream, follies, vistas etc are really well, well worth a visit.

We were greeted by Claire the owner what a lovely lady, she showed us around and left cream tea fresh strawberries and bubbles and fresh flowers from the garden to, the lodge was so clean and so well equipped, nothing was too much trouble for Claire , she has thought of everything there, every little detail was perfect, the garden is so lovely too, you can move the lovely chairs around to catch the sun. the shed had everything in there yet again so much Claire has thought of. We had to cut our holiday short Claire was so understanding, the area is so lovely too, fresh eggs from the farm next door too., A big thank you Claire for making the lodge such a wonderful place to stay.

Kind wishes Claire and barry

We had a fantastic holiday at The Lodge and enjoyed the garden and amenities. The owners had left very thoughtful touches and the cleanliness and decor was excellent. A relaxing and lovely break.

Wow, a truly stunning property. A lot of love and thought has gone into making The Lodge a wonderful place to stay. Fantastic welcome treats for us on arrival, cream tea, milk, butter, orange juice, fresh and very yummy strawberries, a bottle of sparkling wine, and ice cream, and lovely flowers from the garden. The cottage was well furnished with everything we needed, and was lovely and clean. The garden was a great place to sit, soaking up the evening sunshine, and chilling with a glass of wine. It is also in a great location for visiting many places. We love walking, and were out each day. The walk from Morthoe to Morte Point is lovely, and the seals were out enjoying themselves. We saw about 11. Lynmouth to Watersmeet and up over Countisbury Hiil to the Blue Ball Inn, and back on the coast path to Lynmouth is stunning, as is The Hendon Valley. Walk Heddon Mouth beach, then the coast path all the way to Lee abbey beach. It’s very steep, but the views are amazing ( walk back the same way) Walking from Hartland Quay, dramatic coastline. There are many more places to walk and visit, just spoilt for choice. No time to watch TV, and not missed.

This fabulous, wonderful , cosy cottage for two cannot be bettered. Everything about it was perfect. We spent a week in very hot sun, relaxing in the stunning garden or cooling off in the thick walled cottage itself. In the evenings we visited a number of lovely, local places to eat. Not far from the sea and areas of natural beauty. Can’t wait to visit again.

Beautiful Cottage and gardens just like it looks in the photos. Everything was catered for with great quality facilities. Lovely touch by the owners leaving us a ‘welcome pack’. We would definitely stay in this property again.

This cottage is a joy set in a lovely garden which is fully enclosed and just perfect for our Cocker Spaniel. The unexpected welcome pack of scones, clotted cream, wine and ice cream amongst other goodies found in the kitchen was much appreciated. Spotlessly clean and with a good supply of quality china, glass etc. preparing meals in the kitchen area was easy with everything to hand. Whilst afterwards, a gentle stroll from the door to the local church with our old dog proved relaxing and peaceful especially returning to a glass of wine on the verandah with its view to the hills. What more could we want.

Our only negatives were the fact that live t.v. channels appear to be severely limited and the lack of a phone or mobile connection in the cottage did make contacting the owners very difficult when we had an early morning water leak - a walk up the hill to get reception was not funny. However they quickly fixed it as soon as they knew about it. They were also very helpful with local knowledge and advice. I would suggest you bring an insect repellant as the gnats and mosquitoes in the bedroom seem to appear from nowhere even when the door is closed.

Despite the negatives the cottage is so welcoming I would definitely like to stay again in the future.

What a lovely review! You've certainly painted a wonderful picture of a pefectly relaxing break! We'll see if anything can be done to improve the TV channel situation, so thanks for letting us know. We're pleased to see that the owners were able to quickly help you when an issue arose and we're sorry that you had a little trouble with mobile connesction. Mobile signal can be less reliable in rural areas - we have a page on our website to help guests find out what networks are best in different locations, so hopefuly this will prove useful for future holidays.
