What a beautiful barn! Set in the most stunning location where my company for an early coffee was just birds, sheep and ponies. So peaceful, no one else around but only a few miles from Camelford. Everything was clean, the kitchen very well equipped, the den in the mezzanine was a hit for film nights! Lots to do in the local area, many walks, beaches not far, a perfect place for our holiday.

This is the best holiday cottage bar none! We had a wonderful time and were so sad to leave. Everything about it was above and beyond, from the drive up through the Camel valley and moorland to the fabulously quirky decor of the cottage. The view from the cottage is stunning: 360 degrees of moorland and sheep, horses and cows wandering round. Endless great walks from the doorstep. And staying in on a rainy day is a joy, too - how often do you get a holiday cottage with an actual record player, a supply of great novels to choose from, and a film snug in the mezzanine? We would go back to Roughtor Barn in a heartbeat. Isabella, Fred and Trixie the border terrier.

A truly delightful property in an idyllic part of the world. It really is a special place to stay.

We created a holiday tradition of watching films with drinks and nibbles in the mezzanine - something so different and fun (although the stairs are steep!).

The barn is well equipped and everything is at a good standard, so you can relax from the moment you step through the door and see that incredible view. Its rural position lends itself to peace and tranquility, but you don’t have to travel far for lots of interesting things to do. Or enjoy the simple things - long walks, a trip to the beach and some stargazing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Roughtor Barn. The barn itself is cosy, comfortable, extremely well equipped, spacious and beautifully designed and furnished - everything we could’ve hoped for and more. The bifold doors and the outside decking area made this barn extra special for us, because outside the barn - well wow! The views over the countryside and to Rough Tor, the tranquility and the wildlife, are just amazing. We loved sitting out and absorbing it all. Before we arrived, we were a bit worried about the unmade road (for a short distance to the barn), but it’s decent enough and was fine for our car, which has low profile tyres. The barn is off the beaten track but a great base for exploring Cornwall. The nearest beach, Trebarwith Strand, is gorgeous and only a short drive away. We were very sad to leave Roughtor Barn and can’t wait to go back!

The location is spectacular, with an unbelievable view over Roughtor from the kitchen and patio. Very quiet - the only sound was the local wildlife. The Barn was a great place to stay - our teenagers loved the TV/Games den. Make sure you print out the (excellent) final directions before you travel.

We cannot recommend Rough Tor Barn highly enough. We stayed with our two teenage children and we were all blown away by the fantastic location. The view is stunning! We loved watching the sheep, ponies and cows come and go and the wildlife was just amazing, a photographer’s dream. The standard of accommodation was first class, spacious and comfortable with lots of interesting touches. We definitely hope to stay again soon.

A unique experience in a beautiful cottage with stunning views, surrounded by open countryside with lots of farm animals roaming freely. A great place to relax

A well appointed and comfortable property in a peaceful location well away from traffic and other noise with stunning views of the countryside all around. A great place to unwind watching the lambs exploring their surroundings. Really enjoyed the converted roof space with the big screen and mood lighting, we brought pop corn and had Cinema nights with our favourite DVD’s. Would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.

Hidden jem! Such a beautiful and stylish cottage with such an amazing view. Loved waking up and seeing the Tor. Great location to see all the sights of North Cornwall.

Cinema room was great for film watching after busy days of hiking

This is a beautiful luxurious property well off the beaten track and with fabulous views.

Fantastic property which enabled us to relax instantly and definitively didn't want to leave! As per the other reviews we've seen would like to keep this as our secret!

A stunning cottage in a stunning location with an abundance of wildlife.

Beautiful place. So peaceful with such wonderful views. Very well equipped.

A fantastic cottage - one of the best that we have stayed in.

We stayed at Roughtor Barn for 1 week and had an absolutely fantastic time. This place is definitely off the beaten track but it is so worth it for the amazing views and peace and quiet. You open the (electric) blinds in the morning and are pretty much guranteed to see sheep grazing in the garden!

It is a perfect family house and also a great location as a base to explore the area. Attention to detail is superb with all mod-cons, plenty of cook-books to keep you busy and great for the children to relax with a movie or boardgame.

Roughtor barn has been renovated and decorated to a very high standard and it was a pleasure to stay there. On opening the front door we relaxed and enjoyed the comfort and cleanliness of the barn and the high end touches were just perfect. The idyllic setting was perfect and having a morning cup of coffee with the resident sheep was very relaxing!

We had a wonderful week at Roughtor Barn. The standard of accommodation and facilities in the barn were superb, the views from the dining area we breathtaking every day.

The Housekeeper was at the premises to do some garden maintenance on the Saturday and was very helpful in recommending local places to visit and to eat.

For 5 adults there was ample space.

We realise why dogs are not permitted with all the livestock about, if they were we would be booking again for September/October.

Overall great accommodation in a stunning location, a little off the beaten track and all the better for it.

The pictures do not do this cottage justice. I'm loath to say how beautiful it is as it'll get fully booked and I'll never get in there again! A double wow factor when you open the door - first at the interior and then when you step down into the cottage at the fantastic view at the back. Be prepared for the odd sheep on the decking! Spotless on arrival and the manager Bob was extremely helpful. Would love to go back :)
