A very comfortable property in a beautiful and peaceful location. A great base for exploring this area of Dartmoor.

Moorhaven is the perfect spot for those wanting to explore Dartmoor. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped and each bedroom has its own en suite. We were blessed with gorgeous weather but I am sure that Moorhaven would also come into its own in winter as the lounge is so cosy and comfortable. We would certainly recommend it.

Had a lovely week in this spacious cottage. We were able to explore this beautiful area, with so much to see and do. Just a shame the weather wasn't better!

Very spacious property, best equipped kitchen I’ve ever seen in a rental! Lovely and quiet and no artificial light. Plenty of room for 6 people. The drive was a little more than a slope, more like 1:4 and if you have a big cars there’s barely enough room for 2 outside especially when next door arrived.

We had a lovely stay in a well thought out barn. It was a good position to get around to different places. Although the lanes were narrow we hardly met anyone when travelling around. The locals were friendly and we found some nice walks from the house. The owners have a great folder of maps for walks which had copies you could take with you which was a nice touch. Had a great stay !!!

A delightful spacious and well equipped cottage in a remote spot, especially attractive to those wanting to walk in this lovely part of Devon. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and there is a very helpful folder providing information on walks and what to do in the area. The pub next door has well kept beer, but otherwise it can only be described as idiosyncratic. The 6 of us had a really enjoyable weekend exploring and walking despite inclement weather. So it was especially nice to have a wood burning stove to sit around in the evening. We would very much recommend the cottage to those who want peace, quiet, good walking and don’t mind navigating the very narrow roads of rural Devon.

This cosy and well stocked cottage is very practical having ensuites to all bedrooms. Not suitable for the elderly due to different levels. Outside space and walking from the door is limited.

Great spacious cottage, well planned with lots of space. Small rural roads but lots available to do locally.

Lovely cottage with everything you need.. well decorated and very clean. lots to see in the area & a pub on the doorstep!

We had the pleasure of staying at Moorhaven for a long weekend in May. Our focus was on cycling. Lots of good local rides and of course the classic climb over Haytor ( one of the UKs top ten climbs ). Safe bike storage in the back garden.

The house was spotless. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped ( we cooked in 3 out of the 4 nights ) - sharp knives and good quality pans. The living room has a lovely wood burning stove ( plenty of wood in the wood store.).

We had three cars, plenty of space for two outside the house and we parked the third one in the pub car park ( we checked first and they were perfectly happy to let us park the car there. ). The pub is a small quiet country pub, serving local beers and cider.

The house has a small back garden at the back where we stored our bikes, and enjoyed our post ride drinks in the sunshine.

If you are searching for a retreat to the countryside with amazing bird song and quiet lanes to walk/cycle in, Moorhaven is perfect.

This cottage was lovely and spacious especially for two big dogs. Great spot and so close to some beautiful places. The only thing I would say is that, whilst it didn’t bother our dogs at all, dogs are confined to kitchen breakfast area, which is very large. We knew they couldn’t go upstairs and weren’t allowed on the furniture which is totally reasonable, but they weren’t allowed in the lounge at all. For us, no problem, and actually quite nice to have a bit of space from them, but for others whose dogs might be a bit more stressy if away from their owners, this might be worth highlighting. However, we and our dogs thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the cottage was lovely.

The cottage was perfect for what we wanted a chilled weekend with family. With lovely walks on your doorstep.

Such a comfortable place to stay furnished to a high standard in a beautiful location

Accommodation is lovely, well equipped and clean. Beds were very comfortable and showers were great. Owners were very helpful prior to our visit. The biscuits, prosecco, milk, tea, coffee and sugar were much appreciated. The lanes in the area are a little narrow so be prepared for that.

Very comfortable and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. Well designed keeping old tradition with most modern amenities.

The cottage is pretty much ideal. I can only think of three tiny quibbles. The electric hob is hard to control for someone used to gas. The television is hard to work. I imagine we are stuck with those because of the location. The third is parking is a bit tight. Perhaps an agreement could be made to use the pub car park?

The location is not for everyone. If you do not like remote places down narrow country lanes stay away and leave it for those of us who do.

Overall almost perfect.

Thank you so much for sharing your comments following your stay at Moorhaven. We're delighted that you had a great time and enjoyed Moorhaven. We're sorry that you found the electric hob tricky. The controls are standard for an electric hob but, as you say, quite different from gas. The TV has step-by-step instructions to make useage as easy as possible. Thank you for your suggestions regarding parking; it might be helpful to know that there is also parking available in the lane nearby. We very much hope to welcome you back soon. Comfortable accommodation in a very quiet rural location but access to the cottage via several miles of single track roads means it’s location wouldn’t be suitable for everyone.

Cosy cottage and lots of character. Great facilities and we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We would highly recommend this lovely cottage. It’s equipped to a high standard and very comfortable. We felt relaxed there as soon as we arrived - it’s in such a peaceful beautiful area

This cottage is located in a beautiful, unspoilt area. The local walking is a delight, with a variety of ancient trails including The Mariners' Way and the Dartmoor Way criss-crossing the area, and the moor itself just half a mile away. There's also easy access to more well-known walks at Haytor and the Teign Valley George, with stunning views at both. The nearest town, Chagford, has nice shops and cafes and is a very pleasant 5k walk (downhill). The cottage itself is well-equipped, very comfortable and peaceful. There is a proper pub opposite, and a nearby farm with a big herd of cattle. Enjoy the dawn chorus of cattle, cockerels and birdsong.
