There are lovely walks around the lake area into a wooded area.

Nearby picture-perfect Peppercombe.
Appledore and Instow face each other across the River Torridge as it meets the sea.
This is the beach at nearby Instow, a great place for long walks and it is dog-friendly all year round.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site at Braunton Burrows - 1000 hectares of sand dunes leading to the three mile long beach.

The Straw cottage is a perfect place to unwind and also delight in the North Devon UNESCO biosphere reserve . If you visit at the right time you have the chance of seeing over 15 spp of orchids at Braunton Burrows. On the coast we saw Porpoises daily including a newly born calf.

We really loved our stay at Straw cottage. The cottage itself is well equipped and beautifully decorated. It’s really cosy and ever so clean. The hot tub was lovely to use on the eve. The surrounding areas were lovely to go and view. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to book a stay at the cottage.

The cottage was a lovely place to stay Well equipped and clean. Its location was idilic for us as We wanted privacy. The Hot tub was an excellent feature And we used it every day. We would be happy to recommend it and We will return
