We were very comfortable in Wayside, a traditional stone-built cottage. The interior has been carefully fitted to provide all the requirements of modern living while still keeping the character of the building. We started our holiday with a warm welcome from the cleaner, despite the fact that we had disrupted her work by arriving early, who left the cottage spotless for us. We found the well-equipped utility room and the lovely sunny garden especially welcome and overall had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Lovely food was available in the friendly village pub if you didn't want to cook, and the village itself is a real pleasure for those who want to get away from it all.

Overall a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Stunning garden which was lovely to sit in on the days we had good weather. Morning birdsong was something else! Stoke Abbott is such a pretty village. Shopping and amenities are found in nearby pretty Beaminster. We loved lighting the stove at night, and the shower, as everyone says, is indeed fantastic! Slight niggles are that the single bed has quite an old uncomfortable mattress, the dividing bedroom wall is thin and the wooden floors without rugs amplify the sound of footsteps. Just a couple of extra touches would really elevate the cottage.

We absolutely loved this beautiful little cottage! It was so cozy and warm. The village is so peaceful and everything about it is stunning! The shower is absolutely amazing! The cottage is so well equipped (wish I could live there all the time) :)We had lazy mornings in, afternoons out exploring and then long evenings sitting buy the fire.

Wayside cottage is is a beautiful cottage in a small "chocolate box" village. Accommodation of the highest order with comfy beds and a lovely rainfall shower. Cosy and warm with a log fire. The New Inn just a two minute walk away has excellent food, Sunday roast recommended. Stoke Abbott is a lovely village and close to the Dorset coast for further exploring.

Lovely stay at Wayside Cottage for a few days in December. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The village was very friendly and we enjoyed the pub on a couple of evenings

We had a lovely long autumn weekend in this cottage. The village and surrounding countryside are very pretty, and there are lots of good rural dog walks straight from the cottage, as long as you don't mind a hill or two plus the occasional field with livestock. We liked the village pub too and had a good meal there.

Beautiful cottage . Great location .

A character cottage in a peaceful location with a lovely garden

The village of Stoke Abbot is picturesque and tranquil and seems lost in time in its hidden valley. The historic church has a set of bells. The garden is a welcome peaceful sun trap and secure for a dog. There are great local walks from the front door up onto the hills and it's relaxing not to need to take the car out - indeed, the lanes leading into the village are narrow with blind bends. The area offers plenty of beautiful gardens to visit, such as Mapperton, Athelhampton and Abbotsbury and wonderful coastal walks. The cottage is a good base for exploring this corner of Dorset, Somerset and Devon.

Although overall the cottage was good certain areas did not come up to expectations. For instance: Cleanliness in the kitchen was not good. We had to line the kitchen cupboard with binbags before we could put our food in as the shelves were sticky and not clean. Also there were cobwebs in the utility area. The floors throughout did not seem particularly clean either. The bathroom, apart from the shower which was excellent, was tired and the flooring needs replacing. The shower was excellent. The TV was good. The bed was comfortable. The sofa was comfortable. All the mirrors in the cottage were too high and there was no full length mirror. There was only a single cup cafetiere in a 2/3 person cottage. We had to buy one. Parking was difficult at times and particularly when loading and unloading.

Lovely little cottage in a quaint village. Has a beautiful garden, which for us was a real delight, particularly with the abundance of nature. The New Inn is a stones throw away and a must to visit - great food and warm welcome. Would recommend this cottage for peace and relaxation.

Set in an idyllic hamlet of Stoke Abbott, Wayside Cottage exceeded our expectations & was the perfect location for exploring this beautiful part of Dorset. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will most definitely be back next year. We loved the garden with the wild flowers, making for some very happy bees & we ate our dinner outside every night apart from the evening we had at The New Inn which is a short stroll away. We always book with Classic and are never disappointed and this cosy clean cottage has a 10/10 from us! :) Thank you x

Lovely warm comfortable cottage. The location was ideal for a restful short break. Just a short drive to the wonderful beaches of Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

A very sweet house in an idyllic location with easy access to some amazing coastal spots. Parking was absolutely fine but the drive to and from the house requires negotiating some narrow roads (avoid Norway Lane if your satnav takes you down there- I wish I had!). Be aware that the second bed is a single and more camp-bed like (probably ok for a child, not an adult) and that the dividing wall in the bedroom is only a stud wall. All the floors are wood so you can hear every step. Lacks all the love and extras that make classic cottages brilliant (and we have stayed in a few!) however, which is a shame.

I had a lovely stay, in a cottage that I could come back to cook dinner and relax after exploring the jarrasic coastline.

We had a lovely week at Wayside - really comfy and relaxing, there are some lovely walks in the area and you are not far from other great places to visit - The New Inn pub ( at the bottom of the garden) is a must - very friendly and fab food.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location , accessible to the most beautiful countryside .

Such a delightful, traditional yet very stylish, comfortable cottage in the pretty, peaceful little village of Stoke Abbott - the perfect hideaway! Everything I was hoping for. I absolutely loved it and literally shed a tear when I had to leave! The cottage has been renovated and decorated to a very high standard and manages to be both so cosy yet also spacious at the same time. I stayed for 5 nights mid December so particularly enjoyed snuggling up on the sofa in front of the log-burner. Perfect after walks on the beautiful Jurassic coastline just 20-30 mins drive away. Particular highlights were NT Burton Bradstock for the orange looking cliffs and sand at sunset (with a great cafe), Seatown and the coastal walk towards West Bay, and the jewel in the crown - Durdle Door (about an hour away). In case anyone needs to work some of the time like I did, the wifi was strong enough for long Zoom video calls and there's a Smart TV too. The garden would be an added bonus in summer, and I enjoyed a meal at the village pub, 2 mins walk away. I hope to go back to Wayside Cottage for another stay! Just watch out for the narrow country lanes to reach the cottage, especially if you are arriving in thick fog in the dark like I did - it all added to the atmosphere and sense of adventure! :)

Lovely cottage, just perfect for us and our dog. Friendly neighbours and would stay again.

Lovely old cosy cottage with a nice garden that we managed to sit out and have breakfast in every day, even though it was November. Very peaceful village. Pub a minutes walk away is great, good food and joined in a quiz one night. Great location to explore Dorset. Very nice stay, would recommend it to others.

Really lovely cottage , great location and perfect for our stay near the coast. Clean and cosy too. Had everything we needed inside . Even better being able to bring our dog with us . Pub literally on the doorstep and really great food and friendly owners .

A lovely cottage in a delightful village. very easy to find, gain access to and it was immaculately clean on arrival. We had a wonderful time and have booked again!

A beautiful, cosy and very well kept cottage in a stunning part of Dorset. Perfect location for days exploring the Jurassic Coast - visiting Seatown is a must!

Wayside Cottage is a lovely thatched cottage in an idyllic and extremely tranquil village location. Fairly central to many parts of Dorset. A super pub is literally at the bottom of the garden. Parking is a problem and local residents are territorial over it. We were disappointed that entry to the property was delayed by over 1.5 hours, without prior notice, and that some electrical items were not working properly. While the property itself was very clean, the garden was a little unkempt.

Lovely thatched cottage in pretty village but the on road parking is an issue as there are few spaces and much demand

Lovely cottage in a perfect location for walking and visiting local places of interest and beaches. Nice dog safe garden with a great pub up the road. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Wayside Cottage. Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location. The cottage was spotless on arrival and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Thank you Classic Cottages for another fabulous holiday!

We loved our stay in Wayside Cottage. It is in a great position for walks and for the coast and I don't think I have heard so much small bird sound all day for many years, it was incredible. Hope to return!

Lovely comfortable cottage for 3, well equipment kitchen in picturesque village. Very clean. Perfect for recharging with lots of walks and places to visit nearby. We'd like to return.

Property was wonderful - well equipped kitchen, logs for the fire and everything was nearly refurbished but the owners have manged to also keep the old cottage charm.

A lovely thatched cottage in a hidden Dorset village, just perfect for my mid-week escape. I spent 3 nights at Wayside cottage and I will be back! Two bedrooms (a single and a double) upstairs and plenty of space downstairs with a small enclosed garden, it proved a comfortable living space and a secure area for the dog. You are close to the coast but this is a superb base for exploring the Dorset countryside, just step out the front door and you’re in Marshwood Vale. Wander up out of the village and find Lewesdon hill, the highest point in Dorset, it’s stunning. Head south and discover the unique holloways (Hells Lane!) Finish the day with a pie and a pint at The New Inn (I did) An exceptional property!

The cottage is situated in a beautiful village, with plenty of adjacent walks for our four legged friend, Jasper. The New Inn is literally at the bottom of the garden and this is a friendly pub, with excellent food. The cottage is warm, very clean and comfortable. The cottage has a very beautiful garden, with a stream at the bottom. We were able to sit in it, with our coffee's even in mid October.

A really lovely cottage with everything we needed supplied. Beds were super comfy and the shower was perfect. The New Inn round the corner (a whole 2 minute walk away) does delicious food and there was so much to see and do in the area. Will definitely be returning!

Beautiful cottage in a very peaceful location.Absolutely spotlessly clean.plenty of cooking equipment if needed.bed so very comfortable.lovely garden with a patio table and chairs and if you get great weather, pop into the summer house and you will find sun loungers too!location is great with the beautiful Dorset coastline only 30 minutes away.just book, you won,t be disappointed. We loved this cottage so much,we could easily buy it when we retire.
