Challamoor is a beautiful cottage and we had a very relaxing holiday. It is indeed very rural but in a very beautiful location which suited us. but some people may find it a little too remote and the Devon lanes can be very challenging if you're not used to them, however we were prepared because we have stayed in rural locations before. It was wonderful to open the door and hear absolutely nothing. No traffic noise, no barking dogs and no voices. On one evening we opened the window and all we could hear was a tawny owl. There is no light pollution so we could see the stars. The property is very well equipped The owner came round to see if we had settled in but after that we only saw him in passing. As other reviewers have said there is no WiFi but we didn't find that an issue. Overall we would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to relax and get away from it all.

Peaceful, very clean property. You should be aware there is no wifi at the property and phone signal is very poor. We found we got a passable signal by hanging out of the bedroom window or standing by the gate at the front of the property.

Overall a good base to visit countryside, Dartmoor and coastal towns.

A lovely cottage if your looking for a rural break. The cottage is well equipped but there is no WiFi if your taking teenagers!

Although the instructions to find the cottage were fairly clear we still managed to visit all 3 of the surrounding properties before we found ours. Basically, follow a narrow lane (up) opposite the Buckland in the Moor church (signposted Elliots Hill) to just before it peters out to an unmade track. Immediately bear left into the gravel driveway and keep going straight on for 100m+ and through further imposing gate posts. You then need to cross over a small stream. The cottage is ahead of you behind the 5 bar gate. Once in the cottage we were pleasantly surprised at the traditional stonework and other touches to the past yet still with many modern comforts (but note no wi-fi installed when we were there). The cottage was extremely clean with excellent kitchen facilities and implements. We had a great time and the cottage is in a great position for exploring the villages of Southern Dartmoor and even the Southern Coastal towns of Torquay and Plymouth which were only around 45 minutes away. Thank you to the owners for a very comfy & quiet stay.

Lovely cottage, clean and tidy. Great location for exploring dartmoor and not too far to visit the coast.

A lucky find - if using post code that Classic Cottages gave over the phone due to not attaching any direction details into our booking - don’t try to reach the cottage through the bridle way gate...we were arriving at dusk and after a short distance thought we’d try access from the end of the road near the church. That’s the correct way. Noting the cottage is a long way up that road, marked out by a huge granite stone with its name. The stars at night really are bright ! You might want slippers for the stone floor -upstairs carpet was like new. A uk shaver 3pin Adaptor is recommended as there’s no shaver point - for shavers or toothbrush charging. Electric shower isn’t very powerful but if you’re prepared for that or use bath instead, this cottage does not disappoint. Friendly owner, we only stayed a few days but would love to return again. The wild ponies and sheep on the moor make this an unforgettable experience.
