Whitehall Farm Cottage is part of a wonderful period farmhouse in a beautiful setting in the Otter Valley just outside the market town of Honiton.
There is an inglenook fireplace at the heart of this historic property. Carved beams add to the amazing character of this house.
The kitchen/breakfast-room is full of light.
There is a separate dining-room with French windows out to the patio and enclosed garden - both of which look out over fields and the view beyond.
This is the farmstead in the distance. The top of the hill is actually an Iron Age fort managed by the National Trust. You can walk up through the fields to explore.
Another view of the front of the cottage. There is plenty of parking for guests in the original farmyard (parking for the other two cottages is on the far side of the farmyard).
The kitchen offers plenty of space and a door at the far end leads into the sitting-room - as well as another door from the hallway.
This happy and welcoming cottage is a wonderful family-friendly base for your holiday.
Another view across the sitting-room which looks out into the farmyard. The working part of the farm and the farm machinery are in another part of the farmstead.
This lovely place is full of unique, artistic and creative ideas.
Another view of the dining-room with the French windows to the garden.
There are details everywhere that will delight children.
A path runs alongside the kitchen window to the front door.
This is the entrance hall. Just outside the front door there is a covered area so that you can take off your boots under shelter.
The three bedrooms are all on the first floor. This is the main bedroom. All the rooms are just as stylish and have a calm feel to them.
Hanging space is behind the linen screen. Tasteful grey bed linens and thick sheep fleeces from the special flock here add a touch of luxury.
An eclectic mix of rustic and vintage furniture adds to the unique feel here.
This is the first floor family bathroom. There is also a shower and WC in the ground floor utility-room.
Lovely thick towels are provided.
This is the second of the double bedrooms. This room looks out over the garden and up the hill behind the farmhouse.
This bedroom has very clever hidden storage space in the wall panelling.
This is the twin bedroom, another well proportioned and spacious room.
Even the first floor landing doubles up as functional space. A full bookshelf and cupboard full of toys are there to enjoy.
Looking along the length of the landing. The second double bedroom and the twin bedroom are at the far end.
The utility-room on the ground floor has direct access to the garden. This is where the downstairs shower and WC are as well.
This view of the cottage is taken from its enclosed garden.
This is the view from the farmstead across the Otter Valley. The hillside setting means that there are wonderful panaromic views.
Whitehall Farm is home to a rare flock of Rutland sheep, famous for their incredible curly fleeces. The lovely owners will be pleased to show you around.
The farm is also home to a herd of beef cattle. When you are exploring it is important to keep your dog on a lead please.
You will find free-range chickens wandering around happily.
Even the chickens and cockerel are special breeds.
The sheep will sometimes be in the paddock right next to your garden.
The special fleeces from this rare flock of sheep are made into stunning blankets and throws.
You will be welcome to see and perhaps treat yourselves to the products from the flock.
The Otter Valley Field Kitchen is on the very next farm. Fabulous award-winning ice cream and other delights. You will pass it on your way here.
