The Cottage is a traditional Devon cottage hidden away in a tranquil rural location. It has a large enclosed garden.
The sitting-room with the inglenook fireplace is at the heart of the cottage.
French windows lead from the kitchen/breakfast-room straight out into the large garden.
All the bedrooms are on the first floor. This is the master bedroom which looks out over the neighbouring orchard.
The galley-style kitchen has a utility-room - also home to the electric cooker - and shower-room at the far end.
There is so much space for children and four legged friends - all are so welcome here.
There is also a Rayburn for lovely background warmth - and of course for cooking.
There is plenty of comfortable seating for all guests.
A separate dining-room is accessed off the sitting-room. Again, plenty of seating for all.
There is plenty of storage space in the bedroom.
A second double bedroom also looks out over an orchard.
Another view of this bedroom.
The twin bedroom has plenty of space.
All the bedrooms are off a lovely wide landing.
There are some lovely welcoming touches in this cottage.
The single bedroom looks out over the large garden and across the fields beyond it.
As well as the shower-room downstairs there is a large family bathroom on the first floor.
A five-bar wooden gate encloses the parking-area in front of the cottage.
We all hope that you will be able to relax as soon as you arrive.
This is the view from the fully enclosed garden.
Take the passenger ferry from Bideford Quay to Lundy Island which runs during the summer months.
North Devon offers a wonderful coastline of rugged cliffs, harbours and seaside villages. This image is looking across at Instow from Appledore. Instow's beach is dog-friendly all year round.
The golden sands of Instow.

A visit to pretty Clovelly should be on your list of things to do.

This property is delightful. A lot of thought has gone into the set up and equipping of it. Sadly we had a lot of rain but the facilities for good weather are fantastic.

Fantastic property for 2 families with a dog to share. The paddock for outdoor activities for kids and the dog was a real bonus. This cottage is very well equipped and the games room & garden games (swing ball) were a real bonus! Very comfortable. And plenty of different areas for all ages to enjoy.

Beautiful cottage with natural, closed in gardens. Very dog friendly. Lots of little extras that went the extra mile to make our get away stress free. Peaceful area perfect to get away from the hustle and bustles of the city. Loved the free roaming pheasant and rabbits. The cows and sheep in the back field was a lovely sound when drinking a cup of tea in the morning. Kids loved the games room and toys in the summer house. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful countryside cottage equipped with everything we needed. The lovely woodland style enclosed and secure garden was perfect for our dogs, as was the adjoining paddock area. Now on our list of favourite cottages and highly recommended!

The cottage was lovely and warm, very welcoming, but for dog owners the best thing it was securely fenced in, taking any worries away from letting your dog loose in the garden, ours settled down straight away. Would recommend this cottage.

Lovely peaceful location in beautiful countryside but in easy reach of the coast.

The location of the cottage is lovely, so peaceful and quiet but close enough to north Devon attractions. It is well equipped inside and outside with lots of garden games. The cottage is well set up for those travelling with dogs- our dog loved the garden. The paintwork inside could do with some attention and the garden pruning back. However, The Cottage is a great base for exploring the area.

The most important thing for us was that the cottage was very dog friendly along with the garden being fully enclosed. The Cottage is very comfortable and we really enjoyed the log fire in the evenings. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was lovely using the Rayburn, The kitchen and bathrooms were immaculate, We would recommend this cottage to any one who would enjoy a peaceful, calm and cosy location

A charming cottage and a wonderful warm welcome. The Christmas hamper was extremely generous and deeply appreciated.

The Cottage is very relaxing and utterly peaceful.

Certainly one of the best cottages we have stayed in. And we have certainly stayed in a few. Comfortable, well equipped and dog friendly. We shall hopefully be back next year.

Amazing location and a stunning country cottage in the middle of the countryside, perfect base to head to the coast or just enjoy the peaceful dog walks around. Will certainly use country cottages again and will be back here at some stage.

A very pretty cottage in a beautiful setting ,well equipped comfortable and warm ,the plus a very secure garden for the dogs ,and the use of the paddock was great to ,plenty of garden furniture and games.Best of all it was so quiet and peaceful

A most enjoyable stay. Very Dog friendly. One of our dogs wouldn't get into the car to come home. Kept going back to the paddock gate. Would definitely stay there again

Attractive cottage externally in lovely location with views across open countryside. Adequate only internally with both decor and furnishings in need of upgrading, despite obvious modernisation for rental market. Cavernous lounge with flagstone floor a little cold and depressing owing to well used furniture and unsympathetic lighting. Upstairs comfortable with generally well lit bedrooms and suitable storage for clothes. Plumbing and shower facilities, whilst functional, are not as reliable as would be expected. Reasonable sized enclosed garden although rather overgrown and needing more regular maintenance to really enhance it. With potential overall but would definitely benefit from refreshing. Good position, however, from which to explore the dramatic North Devon coastline.

We're so sorry to see that the property wasn't quite what you were looking for. We do feel that The Cottage has been sympathetically furnished in keeping with it's age and style, and we regret that this wasn't to your taste. We do appreciate that not every guest will feel at home with every variation of decor and styling, but do encourage customers to check out the description and numerous photos provided for to help them make their choice before booking. It was great to hear that you found the exterior attractive, the bedrooms comfortable and the garden spacious. We look forward to welcoming you to an alternative property in the future. Had an amzing holiday at The Cottage. Beautiful property. So peaceful amd the garden was perfect for our 4 dogs. The flowers, cakes and dog treats on arrival were a lovely touch. The property was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely return.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Lovely rural location. Very dog friendly

Wonderful cottage, secure garden and great location!

From the minute you walk in, this cottage oozes charm and is very welcoming. There is everything you need (and more) for a perfect holiday. The wood burner is awesome!

Travelling with two dogs, one which is a ‘golden oldie’ means the list of boxes we need to tick is quite long and this cottage fulfilled all our requirements. The tiled floors, doggie extras and the totally enclosed garden made it the best dog friendly cottage we’ve ever stayed in. The use of a paddock is also a welcome bonus because the lanes are quite narrow for walking an old dog who can’t move quickly to side step any passing traffic . . . not that we saw much, other than the local farmer going about his daily routine.

The location is idyllic -so peaceful and the cottage is not overlooked (except by some inquisitive cows in the field next door.). The garden is private and lovely to sit in and soak up the tranquility that surrounds you.

This is the place to stay if you want total rest and relaxation but is relatively close to beaches, places of interest and amenities, making it an ideal property for everyone.

We had a lovely comfortable stay at the Cottage. It would have been perfect if we had some of the weather a few weeks earlier. However thats England. Very well appointed, comfortable cottage. If we come back to the area we would re-book if its available. Thanks The Wakley's Aug 2020.

Perfect cottage in a beautiful location. Easily accessible to lots of different places, activities and facilities in the immediate and surrounding areas. The cottage is cosy and everything needed for a enjoyable family holiday.

Extremely well maintained property, comfortable, warm and cosy Cottage. Brilliant for our 6 month old puppy, large well enclosed garden.

I stayed in the cottage with my husband and my two dogs it was clean tidy and well kept comfortable very quaint property, quiet location beautiful surroundings and not too far from the beaches and other places of interest, we loved our stay here and would recommend this cottage and ourselves will certainly book again.

An ideal get away from it all location, the cottage was warm and welcoming and provided everything we needed. Our two Border Terriers loved the totally enclosed garden. Perfect
