We're delighted to hear that you found The Bothy a comfortable place to stay within Dartmoor National Park. We very much hope to welcome you back in the future. Meg, Customer Support

Our first stay at The Bothy and hopefully will not be our last. It is equipped with everything you would need and more, very warm and clean, a well thought out ,spacious barn conversion loved the en-suites. Good to hear the Owls at night! The village of Manaton is a lovely place to go exploring on the many footpaths around. Enjoyed visiting the many Tors and visiting Castle Drogo after 30 plus years! We walked to the Bowerman’s Nose from the Bothy and the climb is worth it. The Kestor Inn has a good atmosphere even though we only had a drink there so can’t comment on the food. Overall a much enjoyable stay at The Bothy, sorry not to have met the owners. They certainly have a “,gem”!

We loved our stay at The Bothy, the area is exceptional for natural beauty and great walking. We had a great welcome from our host. The original renovation of the property featured very attractive wood and slate. Lonely, quiet, dark at night, a great rural retreat. Should mention too, it’s spacious and warm with comfortable beds and excellent shower.

We enjoyed our stay at the Bothy, which is situated in a very peaceful area. The cottage is very clean and comfortable and the garden was great for the dogs to run in. The owners were close by if we needed anything but did not intrude in our holiday in any way.

The Bothy is a lovely, well-equipped and well-maintained cottage in a pretty village with an excellent pub. It’s also well-located for exploring Dartmoor. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in this beautiful cottage for a week with our four year old daughter. The owners are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, even arranging for our daughter to feed their sheep which she loved. The cottage is perfectly situated for not only exploring Dartmoor but for day trips into other parts of Devon too. We had a wonderful holiday and hope to return to the Bothy for more holidays in the future!

Eating out at the Kestor Inn is a real treat! Fabulous food, drinks and even more important nowadays: the staff is fantastic! Loved the MTB-trails. Just follow the app komoot. Don't go to Becky Falls, not worth the entrance fee.

A beautiful peaceful cottage. Everything you could need was there. The peace was amazing sitting in the courtyard listening to the birds & the bees on the rose arch. Very quiet lane. Just wonderful!

Would certainly go back to this cottage again

We recommend this lovely cottage to others. It is very comfortable and sits in a naturally beautiful valley full of trees and a little brook. Walking and cycling is easy right from the door. This part of dartmoor is packed with lots of places to explore for every age group in any season. We visited in December and it was stunning in the frost and snow.

A very comfortable, quiet and well appointed cottage in an excellent location for exploring Dartmoor or even further south if you wish as access to the A38 Expressway is very easy.

Beautifully decorated cottage throughout. Well equipped kitchen. Set in the most beautiful location. Wonderfully comfortable beds with en-suite bathrooms. If you want peace and quiet this is your place. ??

Just a lovely place to stay. Everything you needed and a warm, cosy place to come home to after getting soaked walking on the moors. The owner was really welcoming and very helpful - we took the train to Devon and forget to bring/ buy one item so he helped us out when others wouldn't have. The pub, a three minute walk away at the top of the lane was great - genuinely friendly staff and locals. Just love the area - we're happy that we've found another great place to return to now.

Lovely cottage, fully equipped for a weekly stay in a wonderful environment. We did stay with 2 adults and 1 kid, and we found it really amazing. The hosts are also happy to share their experience and give you a warm welcome. We had really an amazing time!

We had a wonderful week in this idyllic cottage . It’s spacious but cosy , old Dartmoor externally , modern and very comfortable internally and extremely clean and well kept . It’s “ roses round the door “ with all the modern comforts you could wish for . We loved it and are looking forward to returning .

The Bothy is always pretty well booked up and it’s taken us a while to secure a week there, I can understand why. This is by far the best accommodation we have stayed in. It’s clean, comfortable, warm, well equipped with plenty of storage space and dog friendly, with a lovely big hallway to dry off your furry friends. Some freshly picked flowers from the very pretty cottage garden, and a delicious locally baked sponge we’re awaiting our arrival, such a lovely touch. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore the wonders of Dartmoor.

Perfect location for exploring Dartmoor and very dog friendly

This is a lovely property - spacious, comfortable, clean and very tastefully decorated. We loved its peaceful location within the village where we could go on many varied and scenic Dartmoor walks direct from the property without having to use our car. The Kestor Inn was only 2 minute walk away - a friendly local with good pub food. The owners were helpful and friendly.

Thank you so much for your review. We're really glad you enjoyed the peaceful location and the walks on Dartmoor without needing a car. Kelsey, Customer Support

We have been visiting Dartmoor and The Hams for a couple of decades from several cottages. This is at the top of the tree for access/location, peaceful setting, friendly owners. The stone barn conversion was undertaken to the highest level of finish. We especially enjoy the peaceful setting and clean air. We are never at a loss for things to do or places to visit - Tavistock, Dartmouth, Brixham provide good days out. There are many excellent places to visit nearby if you want a rest from walking or want to avoid getting soaked.

The Bothy is a lovely, well appointed cottage; the location is excellent for exploring Dartmoor.

The Bothy is a perfect place from which to explore Dartmoor. Endless beautiful walks from the doorstep up tors and through woods. Our children loved paddling in the nearby stream and having a friendly pub on the doorstep was a real bonus too.

Excellent cottage, comfy bed ,well equipped kitchen , great location for hiking from door and excellent hosts.

Fabulous location, perfect for walking .

The Bothy is well maintained and positioned well to open up Dartmoor and places further south via Newton Abbott (Dartmouth is best approached that way and use one of the car ferries rather than the circuitous drive skirting Totnes; Brixam is worth investing some time in.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Great walks nearby and easy access to the moor. We really enjoyed our stay at The Bothy and found lots to do in the area with our two children. Would love to visit again!

Excellent location for walks from the village on to the moor.

The Bothy sits back from the main built up area of Manaton. It is peaceful and well appointed to give a positive base from which to enjoy the nearby locations - both the natural world and the interesting towns and villages around Dartmoor and further afield (Parke, Totnes, Dartmouth, Brixham, Tavistock, Exeter) - take your pick. Of course, you could simply park your car here and walk into the wild of Dartmoor each day if that appeals.

The website "Stars" on the questionnaire didn't respond to my clicks, so here I can confirm FIVE STARS

The Bothy is an idilic place to relax, enjoy and explore all that Dartmoor offers. The Bothy is clean and practical if it rains the layout is suitable for towelling off a wet dog and placing wet clothes in the washing machine. The garden across the small road is lovely to spend time in as is the small courtyard garden. The bedrooms are comfortable with added bonus having an en-suite attached to both. The kitchen and lounge area is also cosy and comfortable. We weren’t blessed with good weather but managed to enjoy trips out dodging the rain...when we did stay in the surroundings of the Bothy made it bearable. We would like to thank Tim & Sarah for sharing this stunning place and for being near when needed but not overally attentive ... so it felt like home from home. This is our second stay and we will be returning next year! Trudy Surman-Roper & Nigel Roper

A beautiful, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a very peaceful location. Great base to explore the Dartmoor and South Devon.

This property is exactly as described and was a ideal place for us to stay to see Dartmoor. The owners were very helpful and everything met our expectations. We had our two Collie dogs with us and it was perfect for them as they could sleep in their beds in the entrance corridor without having to go into the main cottage. We could walk them very easily in the small paddock and woods literally about 4 yards from the entrance with a beautiful stream running through. There are, of course, many places to walk both us and the dogs all over Dartmoor! The cottage is warm and snug with a woodburner for the colder days (it was early April when we visited) and is extremely well fitted out throughout. The Kestor Inn is about a 3-4 minute walk and does a very good carvery on Sunday lunchtime plus good pub food at other times just check opening times in the off peak season. All in all we had an excellent break there and please pass our thanks to Tim and Sarah.

Mike & Wendy Barritt.

Wonderful area to stay with many walks from the door. No need to use the car. Beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Highly recommended

Lovely cottage in an excellent location - especially for walking! Great to be on the moors within a few minutes drive.
