We loved our stay at Barnell Cottage in Branscombe. It’s beautifully decorated, has all the amenities you need it’s also in a great location and has stunning views too! We would highly recommend this cottage.

This was the most incredible few days' break away. The standard of the property and the generosity of the hosts more than exceeded our expectations. The log burners, cosy sitting room, wonderful kitchen, dog friendly environment, and superb extension all made for an incredibly relaxing holiday. We hope to be back!

Beautiful views, interesting and historic village, stunning coastline, lovely pub (fountainhead) and tearoom.

Beds very comfy and bedding lovely.

The glass day room was absolutely gorgeous and the tv snug was great

Garden wonderful and the largest assortment of owl hoots at night we have heard.

After a long drive the house was very welcoming. It was very cosy and has beautiful views, plenty of parking. We will defiantly be back there soon.

Barnell Cottage exceeded our expectations - it was stylishly and well equipped and was very homely and cosy but also very spacious and comfortable. Karl and Jill are very generous and caring hosts. It is ideally situated for visiting Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and the surrounding area and The Mason Arms in Branscombe is a great pub with good food and excellent service. We definitely plan to return.

Beautifully presented cottage in an idlilic setting.

A beautiful cottage in a tranquil and relaxing setting. Gorgeous walks and a perfect spot for a dog-friendly holiday.

Barnell Cottage is set in a beautiful peaceful location. It is so well equipped and extremely comfortable. A super family holiday home.

Excellent location, beautiful garden, well equipped cottage with lots of character. Especially enjoyed the garden room and patio with outdoor furniture. Just one suggestion: provide sheets for the beds as the duvets were too warm for summer use.

We loved Barnell Cottage. It’s everything we could have wished for: a dream cottage in an idyllic location, well equipped, spotless, and luxurious.....

Beautiful cottage with stunning views over the village. Very well appointed will everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Did not want to leave!!

Beautiful cottage in an equally beautiful setting

A beautiful and well equipped property ideal for families of all generations, situated in a lovely valley and within easy walking distance of the beach.

I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying a stay at such a special cottage and location - as long as you are okay with steep hills! There are also wonderful coastal walks within the immediate area and just far enough to be able to walk back. We hardly used our car at all. Both the Miners Arms and The Fountain Head are great for food and drink.

We were a party of eight plus dogs staying over the New Year period. The owners were very accommodating to a last minute request due to us re-homing a small dog. The house was very well equipped/decorated and furnished to a high standard. On arrival champagne, biscuits and fresh flowers were left for us which was very well received!

The location of Barnell Cottage was perfect for our families. An amazing walk down to the Sea Shanty Café in Branscombe where we had a lovely cooked breakfast and then we headed up onto the coastal path to Beer! Be prepared for some hilly walks! The views are stunning. We also did the walk from Branscombe beach along the coastal path in the opposite direction to The Fountain Head pub. Our dogs had the best holiday!

Both pubs in the village (The Masons Arms and Fountain Head) serve great food and are very friendly and both dog friendly.

The Donkey Sanctuary was lovely to visit, especially if you have smaller children - although our teenage boys really enjoyed it too!

We would most definitely recommend Barnell Cottage to anyone who wishes to get a relaxing break in a very peaceful and pretty part of Devon.

Thank you Karl and Jill!

The hosts Karl and Jill were really great and very helpful. There was a welcome card and a bottle of really good Champers in the fridge.. wow! was this enjoyed after our journey down!! Beautiful cottage, all the comments in the visitors book say the same , we are sure they will be successful with future rentals and have a good business.

Location, views, excellent quality and comfort of the interior, hosts very welcoming, house extremely well equipped, also very thoughtful practical items like hand soaps and bin bags provided. This is the only house we have stayed in, in the last 5 years that has provided dishwasher tablets and ensured the dishwasher was filled with rinse aid and salt, perhaps trivial but when you are on a short break it's essential not to have to shop for basics. We really appreciated these little extras.

Just beautiful - a great base, so well thought out! Luxury but at the same time we weren’t worried about having the children running about as it’s all so perfectly appointed! Would definitely stay again - maybe in winter to make use of that gorgeous fire!

Stunning position Excellent house all round Very relaxing Lovely attention to detail and personal touch from owner - wine, eggs, milk, shortbread on arrival

We have just returned from Barnell Cottage with 3 generations of our family and our dog. It is a beautiful cottage in a lovely rural setting. The spacious kitchen and living areas provide everything we wanted and more. Everything has been furnished with comfort in mind and is all of a very high quality. I have no reservations about recommending this property for family holidays across the generations.

My husband says our week at Barnell Cottage feels like a dream - would like a return visit & we've only been home 3 days!

We rented Barnell Cottage as a base for our daughter’s wedding in the village. The cottage is a little piece of heaven - an absolutely enchanting place to stay, in an idyllic setting. The large conservatory/family room is particularly lovely. The owners are super friendly and kind; they left flowers, fresh eggs and other goodies, and sorted our recycling midweek(as we had lots of people visiting). A brilliant location for a stay in this picture perfect village. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Lovely cottage in a nice setting and a great base for exploring Devon and Dorset.

We had a lovely holiday. The cottage was in the most delightful position and the peace and quiet of the location was just what we wanted.

We had the most wonderful stay at Barnell Cottage. Not only is it in a beautiful, quiet location, close to the beach and little village pub; it is a brilliantly equipped cottage, that has absolutely everything you could need: Plenty of parking, big front garden (which the kids and dog loved!) outdoor furniture & bbq, good sized kitchen/diner, sitting room with gorgeous views, snug area fully equipped with plenty of games for kids and adults and good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Not to mention all utensils, bed linen, towels, tea and coffee etc. We were greeted by the owners personally, they had left us fresh eggs, milk, biscuits and prosecco, such a lovely touch! We were there to celebrate a family birthday and it couldn’t have been more perfect, we went to the local pub for lunch, had a lovely flat walk to the beach, had drinks at the beach cafe and even hired chefs to cook dinner for us at the cottage. The owners were always on hand to check we were ok, nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend Barnell Cottage and it’s gorgeous location. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t stay for longer!

Superb cottage: beautifully presented, comfortably furnished and equipped to the highest standards. And all in a lovely valley with great views, local pubs and muddy walks. Kids thrilled to have properly functioning wifi - which pleased their parents too... Fabulous place.
