Ms Yeadon August 2020
Loved the rural, quiet, out of the way location but still only a 30 minute walk to Padstow. Loved the huge garden. Lovely spacious open plan downstairs. Very well equipped. Great view. Exceeded my expectations.
Mrs Barnard December 2019
We loved our stay here, great location and cottage. I already miss those views and the barn owl who would visit.

Thanks so much for reviewing Treretherne Barn - it's certainly a very special place and to have witnessed barn owls as well must have been truly magical! We hope to see you again soon. Bryony, Customer Support
Miss Ferrie December 2019
Great views of Padstow and bay. Barn was lovely and snug for December and plenty to see and do in Padstow itself. Just great!
Mrs Compton December 2019
Treretherne Barn is a lovely, comfortable cottage with wonderful views, within easy reach of wonderful beaches and, of course, Padstow. In fact, it is only a 20 minute walk into Padstow across the fields. The cottage is great for dogs with a large, fairly secure garden for them to run around in. Very close by are some amazing walks and beaches for you and your dog to enjoy. I am not going to tell you which one was our favourite because we don't want to give the secret away! The walk from the National Trust car park at Trevose Head to Constantine Bay is fairly gentle with wonderful views and a large sandy beach at the end of it.
Mrs Moreton August 2019
Perfect location - close to Padstow yet quiet and secluded with amazing views of the Camel estuary. The lane was not a problem - don't let it put you off, its worth it for the location. I would only stay in this property if you have a dog and don't mind the dog hairs from previous occupants. The single room is actually quite spacious and not at all like a cupboard as other reviewers describe. I would say though that because of the sloping ceilings upstairs the property would be unsuitable for the anyone very tall. Also, some may need to be mindful of the wobbly spiral staircase.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review Treretherne Barn and it's great to hear you had a wonderful time overall in this lovely location. We're really sorry to hear that you noticed some dog hairs in the property and we'll certainly forward this to the housekeeper for their attention - thank you. Bryony, Customer Support

If you are going to put the bins out just make sure that you seagull proof them first ??

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us have your thoughts; we'll ask the housekeeping team to make sure there is some warning about this in the Cottage Information Folder. Tressa, Customer Support
Mrs Barnshaw April 2019
A lovely cottage, really enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again.
Mr Allen March 2019
The barn itself is worth a higher rating than 3 stars but the poor approach road is a problem.
Reply from Classic Cottages
We're sorry that you had some problems with the approach road. The house is set down an unmade farm track (used regularly by local farm traffic) as mentioned in the description, so can get very muddy and bumpy in places especially after long periods of unsettled weather (which unfortunately we've had recently). The track is regularly maintained and we'll certainly forward your thoughts to the owners for their attention. Bryony, Customer Support
Mrs Anstey December 2018
There was very little hanging space in the double and twin rooms. None at all in the single. The cold water tap was not working in the twin room. (We didn’t report this at the time as we didn’t want to possibly stay in to let a workman Remedy this.)
The dining table we found to be a little small to comfortably seat 4 people and we chose not to use the bar stools at the breakfast bar; I have a lower back problem and this would have exacerbated it.
I think what we were most dissatisfied with was the condition of the approach lane (or farm track) leading to the barn. In fact on arrival my husband telephoned your office to express our concerns. I appreciate the condition of the lane was stipulated when you forwarded the final literature following full payment, but that was somewhat at the 11th hour. Had this been disclosed in the full description of the barn at the time of booking we probably would not have proceeded.

We were so sorry to hear about the problems during your stay - we hadn't known the cold tap wasn't working but this has now been fixed (we can normally arrange repairs when reported without interrupting your holiday). The house is set down a down an unmade farm track which we've always described, but we found during the spring of 2018 that the farm traffic and wet weather made this a bit muddier and bumpier than previously, so we added an extra note to really draw attention to it. The track is regularly maintained but we're sorry that you felt we weren't clear enough and we'll look at ways to emphasise the surface further. Tanya, Customer Support
Mr Johnson October 2018
Lovely cottage with excellent views across the estuary. Ideal location for taking dogs while only 20 minute walk into Padstow. Ideal base to enjoy some beautiful walks along the SE coastal path
Mrs Ellen October 2018
We had an enjoyable holiday but feel this property is more for two people than for four and the lane really is a problem.
Mr Malkin September 2018
Loved enclosed garden that also had lovely sunny aspect. Was great to have decent outside chairs and table too. Great shower, missing it already.
Mrs Shaw August 2018
Nice property , handy for padstow and beaches , track may be a problem for smaller cars depending on weather , but would go back . Company easy to reach and efficient if a problem occurs .
Mr Crowther July 2018
Well restored barn. Beautiful, quiet location with outstanding views. Well equipped and comfortable to stay in.
Mrs Kost June 2018
Fabulous place. Barn in a very large secure garden Very well equipped and maintained Remote, lots of parking space and with beautiful views with a 40 mins leisurely walk to Padstow. Tesco store about 15 / 20 mins walk away. Doubt you could find anything better in the area. Well worth it. We want to come again so maybe I should keep quiet about it !
Mr Robb April 2018
We had a fabulous week in this lovely barn. Very convenient for Padstow but with a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere.
Ms Robertson March 2018
Despite Treretherne Barn appearing quite small as we drove up to it we found as a party of four adults and a dog it to be extremely comfortable and spacious. It had everything that we needed and the tea and biscuits was a nice gesture after a four hour journey. We stayed at the end of March and therefore didn't have the best of weather so was grateful for the property being well heated after being outside during the day, I needn't have taken hot water bottles with me. The property has a big enclosed garden so good for kids or dogs and infact let our dog out without concerns of her wondering off. It is situated at the end of a unmade track so very secluded and you get that real feel of spacy and privacy as you look down onto Padstow from the garden. The property is an easy couple of minutes drive into Padstow Town Centre. Although it is in a good location one thing we didn't consider was the unmade road in wet weather conditions. Unfortunately, the track was extremely muddy (we had rain most days) and although our 4x4 made it a smaller car may struggle. The car got absolutely caked in mud. We had hoped to get a taxi into town a couple of nights but decided against it for these reasons. Despite this we had a brilliant time and I would definitely stay at Treretherne Barn again.
Mr Hayward March 2018
Beautiful cottage and fantastic location. Really spacious and homely. Would definitely book again.
Loved it.
Ms Laurie February 2018
Beautiful, peaceful, well-equipped cottage with great décor and fab views, little light pollution so great for stargazing on clear nights - we would definitely stay there again - but remember your wellies if you are planning to attempt the walk into Padstow, and beware of the farm track, it was more pothole than road when we visited.
Mrs Baker December 2017
A wonderfully cosy, private and quiet cottage with lovely views over the estuary. Beautifully and tastefully furnished to a very high standard (couldn't help but notice sofas are leather M&S ones! Very nice!).
Very well equipped kitchen. This isn't Rural Retreats so don't expect a big hamper (pint of milk and biscuits, teabags & a little instant coffee provided) but Tesco is literally a minute or two away so very handy.
Location excellent in terms of getting into Padstow but sadly unable to walk it this time due to the horrendous mud! (It was that bad even the cows were getting stuck apparently!!).
And beware condition of the lane - really is full of deep pit holes. But thankfully not too long.
The third bedroom really is tiny but very sweet - my son named it the cupboard under the stairs (although - so not to confuse - it is upstairs!). It'll definitely appeal to the youngest member of the family!
The cottage is quite small (only bathrooms are ensuite) but the layout downstairs feels spacious with plenty of seating and extremely comfortable.
A lovely property which we would definitely return to - perhaps in drier weather so we can walk into Padstow with just walking boots and not wellies!

Thanks so much for your comments - it's great to see that you enjoyed your stay. We had such a wet winter that the footpaths across fields have been extremely muddy and the farm lane did suffer a little too, especially with the farm traffic using it. Do rest assured however that the track is maintained throughout the season and the surrounding countryside is not always as wet and muddy! Tanya, Customer Support
Mr McKenzie November 2017
A wonderful stay, very well equipped cottage which served as a perfect base for exploring the Padstow area.
Would recommend it highly!
Mrs Burnett October 2017
We had a totally relaxing and peaceful holiday. The property was light, bright and airy and had a lovely welcoming feel to it too, very clean and well equipped. The views over Padstow were lovely, we would definitely visit again.
Mrs Campbell October 2017
Really clean, well equipped and in excellent condition. Beds very comfortable and, although it’s on the smaller side, it’s feels very spacious and bright and airy, there was plenty of room for 5 of us. Great srorage cupboard in the garden for toys etc. The view is beautiful and it’s location is very peaceful. We have already booked to go back!
