Ms Galway December 2020
Excellent location. Good for walking. The beach is pebbles rather than sand but most are on this part of the Jurassic coastline. Partial sea views from bedroom windows.
Dr Pereira October 2020
Comfortable, spacious cottage in outstanding location. Wonderful seascape views, secure gardens for our dog and great pub just a stones throw away. A really relaxing and friendly place to stay and chill out.
Mrs Rudd October 2020
A lovely cottage, comfortable and in a great location
Ms Winstone August 2020
Whilst we loved this property and the location was amazing the property itself needs TLC badly, which considering the lockdown I feel more could have been repaired. The plumbing needs a good looking at as the showers were not easy to use with very little room for temperature adjustment. The Kitchen dual tap in the sink was extremely wobbly from the start and leaked all over the kitchen worktop so had to use tea towels constantly to mop up. There is an outside tap but it only trickles out so had to spend half an hour on return to beach filling bucket to rinse feet and shoes. What there was of the outside furniture was in very poor condition and actually dangerous to sit on for the children with broken struts on the benches. Inside the sitting room were various side tables which were mostly broken and fell apart if you tried to move them away from the wall propping them up. We found this all such a shame as we'd love to return to the guardhouse it was perfect position and size for our family but we'd need reassurance that these things had been attended to. The beds were very comfortable and views were stunning

We were so very sorry that there were some areas that have obviously suffered with wear and tear this summer. We have shared your feedback with the owner, as well as having carried out our usual inspection, and made some suggestions to address the points you raise. Thanks so much for letting us know. Not dog friendly .

We're sorry that The Guardhouse was not as dog friendly as you were expecting. We do ask that dogs are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture at any of our properties. We would also unfortunately never be able to claim that any of our property's gardens are completely escape proof. You can see more details in the booking conditions or on our website and if you have any specific requirements in the future, please don't hesitate to get in touch and we'd be delighted to help. Mr Lessey December 2019
Very clean, comfortable and cosy with woodburning stove. Kitchen had everything we needed and amazing to have the beach on our doorstep for walks with our dog.
Mr Cook September 2019
Not really suitable in the winter, quite damp, despite central heating. Some kitchen equipment needs replacing.
A bag of logs would have been nice.

Thanks for your comments - we're really sorry that you felt the property was a little damp on this occasion. We've certainly had our fair share of wet weather recently which can add to any damp feeling but we'll certainly forward your feedback to the owner for their attention along with your thoughts on some of the equipment. The first basket of firewood should have been available for you so we're sorry if this wasn't the case - we'll pass this to the housekeeper as well - thanks for letting us know. Mrs Krupinski August 2019
Fabulous location, views and added bonus of great pub metres away.
Ms Pateman August 2019
A stunning location. Not the best value for money given that some equipment really needed replacing.

Mr HIND June 2019
Fabulous location for local walks and a good base for exploring the Jurassic coast. Comfortable accommodation. We all enjoyed being so near the sea and the feel of being in the countryside. Shop and pub being so close were very convenient.
Mrs Henderson June 2019
Stunning location - second to none . Little more care required in general upkeep of what should be an exceptional holiday home. Immediate response when we shared our concerns with Classic Cottages so hopefully moving forward issues can be addressed and this amazing house can live up to it’s 5 * potential.
Mrs Wilson April 2019
The cottage is expensive for a week and perhaps the cost of logs for the wood burner should be included
Reply from Classic Cottages
We're sorry that you felt the cottage was expensive. We do carefully consider the pricing of all of our cottages for every week of the year to reflect changes in season and various other factors. We do feel that The Guardhouse is fairly priced but we'll certainly forward your comments to the owners for their consideration along with your thoughts on complimentary logs.
