Ms Brown December 2021
A beautiful, comfortable old cottage with plenty of space for friends or a family, both inside and out. Very peaceful, on the edge of the moor, with the lovely town of Tavistock just a few miles away. Highly recommended.
Mrs Hayes November 2021
Fantastic place to stay, we went with our baby son, dog and parents and had a brilliant week. Some great walks on the doorstep or a short drive away and SUPER dark at night so you can sit out with hot chocolates and enjoy looking at the stars.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and cosy / outdoorsy holiday!
Mrs Knight October 2021
Overall a lovely place to stay, this despite unusually heavy rain! Would like to now try a summer break.
Mrs Moore September 2021
A beautifully restored cottage with plenty of space for all six of us with a lovely, quite minimalist, feel to it. Nicely furnished with good-quality items and very comfortable beds. We spent a very happy holiday there.
Mrs Bosanko August 2021
Excellent beautiful place my dog had a wonderful time.
Mrs. Hobrough August 2021
This is a beautifully converted cottage which is ideal for a family. We were three generations and all had a wonderful time.
Mrs Boswell August 2021
Large spacious accommodation with good outdoor facilities for entertaining the family. Very good pub nearby for meals out.
Mrs Shervell July 2021
Lovely cottage. Setting beautiful. Very accommodating owners.
Mr Armstrong July 2021
Glad we went back this summer to see the cottage in a different season , last time we went it was for Christmas. Stunning Rose's around the door and amazing views.
Mrs Gosling June 2021
A pretty cottage in a beautiful setting.
Miss Broadhurst June 2021
Beautiful, well appointed cottage in a lovely rural setting. Large and beautiful cared for grounds, lots of fun for children and adults to explore. Country walks on the doorstep but only 10 minutes to Tavistock for shops and pubs.
Mrs Rudham April 2021
We had a wonderful stay in this characterful cottage. The cottage has been so well restored and is in a delightful location. The private outdoor seating area was a real bonus as it is very sheltered and a suntrap. It is well located for walking on Dartmoor and exploring the wider area.
Mrs Barnes April 2021
Just that its fantastic.
Ms Eggins October 2020
Wonderful cottage, brilliantly comfy beds, fabulous kitchen and very friendly owners.
Mr Smith August 2020
A great place to help disconnecting for a while and escaping to Dartmoor and the surrounding area, ideal layout and size for a party of 6 and whilst the cottage location itself feels remote, its only a 5 minute drive to Tavistock with its shopping and good food, albeit takeaways in the current climate.
Mrs Turner July 2020
Giles cottage is beautiful and perfect. Location is outstanding for many reasons (beauty of area and the moors as well as access to all the coasts from Dartmouth to Cornish coasts) the grounds are huge (kids bring bikes just to cycle on the grounds). The cottage itself is lovely and spacious for all 6 of us and everyone enjoys having a little go on the piano. It’s our second time here and no doubt we will be back. Tavistock itself is lovely with a great market surrounded by great butchery, bobs east end cafe (really great food!) and cheese shop (yum!)
Mrs Chownsmith July 2020
The cottage was a perfect place to spend a post lockdown week with my children and their partners. The lovely big kitchen was great for them to get together in and chat and laugh whilst preparing us all delicious meals. The outdoor space was great and we had a lovely evening around the fire pit. Great location to get into Tavistock or out on to the moors. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Would love to return.
Mrs Rome September 2018
The property is an interesting conversion of an old house, full of beams and character with lots of quirky features and huge rooms, especially the kitchen! It is in a lovely peaceful location for exploring the area. Lots of nearby walks and Tavistock is a nice market town.
Mrs Balch August 2018
The three cottages, Ida, Lena and Giles were perfect for our three families. Tucked away from the road down a long track, the cottages and outdoor space gave the children a sense of freedom and adventure. Our seven grandchildren range from 3 years old to 12, and there was something for everyone, football space with goal posts, plus a lot of other grassy space to play in, a stream to dabble and even go wild swimming in (with supervision), all of them loved the trampoline. Ida cottage had an extending table which we could at a pinch all get round for meals, 15 of us in our case. There were barbecues and outdoor tables too, which we used a lot.
Mr Deegan April 2018
we were 16 people, a typical Irish family. we were all blown away with our host and the place. we loved it and miss it already.
Ms Pearce March 2018
Great location with lots for children
Mr Otway January 2018
Really comfortable well appointed cottage in a quiet and beautiful location, close to the moors with shops and restaurants just a few minutes drive away.
Mr Otway October 2017
Great location, very quiet and peaceful with great walks and access to the moors, also very close to the town and supermarkets. A beamed cottage but with full height ceilings..all the charm without the bruises. Really comfortable beds too.
Mr Lancaster September 2017
Disappointing, nice conversion let down by little or no WiFi, somewhat dark and cold inside and a need of some basic maintenance.

Thanks so much for your review. We're sorry you had problems with the WiFi. We know that the owner spent time with you early in your stay trying to address the interrupted signal (this was an unintentional result of trying to boost the signal in the owners' house which somehow affected the cottage) - they'd understood when they saw you the next day that all was well, and hadn't realised that you'd had further difficulties. Equally, the owners would happily have adjusted the heating or shown you how to shut the two roof light windows that were open if you'd mentioned you were chilly. All has now been rectified, so thanks for letting us know. Tanya, Customer Support
Mr Hill September 2017
We loved our stay at Giles Cottage with the Annexe too.
An out of the way location peace and tranquillity ( no Wi-Fi or Mobile signal really which suited us) a totally superb Cottage with everything one needs and more, even a beautiful piano!
Lovely rooms, decor and wood burner and a spacious cottage kitchen and utility to satisfy all our needs. Lovely spot by the river and easy walks to great places and only 5 min drive to Tavistock. wonderful market, cafes, restaurants and pubs ... and fantastic scenery and walks, rivers and waterfalls. Loved every minute at Giles Cottage already booking more stays 2017 and 2018. Annabel the owner and her family were wonderful and very helpful indeed.
We had a ball. We had lots of friends and family visit and some stay. it was excellent.

We're delighted to hear that you had such a great stay. Broadband is available at the cottage (a basic level for web browsing and emails etc, not superfast, and strongest signal in the sitting-room) but there was a little blip with the system which has now been resolved. The wonderful rural location does mean that mobile signal is limited in this area generally. Do check your network provider's coverage map if this is especially important, and of course the owners are also on hand if there is a problem. Tanya, Customer Support
