October 2017

We had a short break at the Retreat in October. It was a really lovely place to stay however we booked this in particular for the swimming pool and hot tub advertised. Despite this when we excitedly headed over to the pool area we found it to be quite dirty and the hot tub was empty. We felt a little cheated by this as we probably paid a bit extra compared to other properties to enjoy these features.

Aside from that mishap, the house itself was lovely and cosy.

Thanks so much for your comments, and we're really sorry to hear that you felt the pool could have been cleaner. The hot tub is emptied and refilled after each stay, so we're really not sure what happened? Obviously if we'd known about this during your stay we'd happily have got any issues ironed out for you, but we'll certainly investigate a little further. Tanya, Customer Support

Unusual setting with everything you needed

July 2017

We came away for a short break for my 18th Birthday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. The decor is stunning and the facilities go above and beyond - from dishwashers and washing machines to rolling pins and cheese graters. The open plan is beautifully done, with there always being somewhere you can sit in comfort. There is no service from EE/Vodaphone at this location but they do offer complimentary Wifi which is brilliant, there is also a smart TV which offers television, ITV hub, Netflix etc...

There is a short walk to the pool, so remember to take your robes and flip flops, where you go up the steps next to the apartment and alongside the field turning into the hedged off area which is beautifully done with faux grass, dining area, a beautifully long pool and a wood fire hot tub. This area is just as gorgeous as inside. These aren't entirely private and solely for your own use, so with a flamingo floaty in our hand we pulled off the pool cover and dove in. This is advertised as heated but it a lovely inbetween, it's not boiling but it's definitely not freezing like most pools and offers a lovely refreshing temperature against the heat. This pool feels massive compared to the two of us in it and I'm sure we only stayed in one end. In regards to the hot tub, we were unable to use this in our stay as the fire pit was already full of ash and we'd burnt all the logs provided before realising that's why the water was split between warm and freezing cold. As suggested the hot tub is a wood burning one and takes three hours to heat up so it's a case of planning wisely when you want to use it, but these facilities are available to you whenever so there's never too late.

The bed is ridiculously comfy to the fact that I lay on it ready to jump up in 10 minutes to watch Love Island but found myself waking up two and a half hours later confused and in complete comfort and luxury.

We would definitely recommend this cottage to everybody, we already have started and would come back in a heartbeat.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review The Vineyard Retreat - what a truly special place to celebrate a very special birthday! It's great to hear you managed to make use of the wonderful facilities on offer but it's a shame you didn't use the hot tub more. We've followed this up with the owners who confirmed that a fire can be lit on top of the ash (it helps it burn) and logs are topped up daily from the log store - we've also changed the description a little to explain the layout re the pool. We hope you get the chance to return again soon. Bryony, Customer Support

June 2017

The apartment has the potential to be fantastic, with nice touches such as bath robes, plenty of seating and great decor. Unfortunately there was a lot of basic kitchen equipment missing including a washer/drier listed in the property description. The owner wasn't in a hurry to resolve the issues which somewhat spoilt our holiday, although the property manager from Classic Cottages was very helpful in resolving our issues. I understand this is a new property and therefore I could put a couple of things down to teething problems, however the issues we had go beyond that and should have been sorted before the property was let.

Thanks for your comments. We're so sorry that there was a mix up with the washing machine details and that some of the kitchen equipment had been borrowed since our inspection and hadn't made it back! We're glad that we were quickly able to sort some of these issues for you and as you know, we're working with the Owner to clarify some of the other points. Tanya, Customer Support
