1 Coastguard Cottages is the end of this very pretty row of just five beautiful cottages facing the sea.
There is a very pretty sitting out area under the trees in the side garden - as well as one in the courtyard at the back of the cottage.
The whole cottage has been renovated and has many of its original period features at the same time as being very comfortably furnished and well-equipped for holiday guests.
The cottages are set back from the road by their long front gardens. No 1 has a garden to its side but all the cottages can use the path from Quay Street.
The kitchen/breakfast-room leads to the sitting-room which is at the front of the house, with wonderful sea views.
There is a contemporary kitchen and beyond it the back door to the courtyard and a separate WC.
There is a very clever, and a bit quirky!, space under the stairs which is large enough for the washing machine. Note the low door, so mind your head.
The double bedroom with sea views to take in from your bed - what a way to start the day. The little Victorian fireplace is a lovely feature.
This bedroom has a tiny little en suite WC and wash basin - the door is just behind the open bedroom door in this photo.
The second bedroom has twin beds but these can be made into a 6 ft king-size double if you wish.
There is a very happy holiday feel to this lovely cottage.
The newly refurbished bathroom. The lower than standard bath is not only easy to get into and to bathe children in but has enabled a fitted shower to be offered too.
You will feel at home here whatever the time of year and whether for a family seaside holiday or a walking holiday, the location is excellent.
The attention to detail at 1 Coastguard Cottages makes it feel like a real
Start off the day with coffee in the garden whilst you decide whether to wander down to the beach or the quay, or head up to Exmoor or along the South West Coastal Path to Porlock.
The gardens are not formally enclosed but you have the whole of the side garden as your dedicated outside space. This photo shows your front door.
This is the view from the front bedroom window. A path runs down the middle of these long front gardens and this is for all the cottages to use for direct access to the Esplanade.
There is a pretty courtyard at the back of the cottage too where you can sit and relax. There is pedestrian access to the other cottages along the top of the courtyard-area.
This is your very own tropical palm tree - this photo shows the path to the other cottages. The cottage and your courtyard-area are just out of this shot to the right.
This is the side path for your cottage, leading from the front door to the courtyard and back door with the beautifully planted garden off to the left.
Enjoy the easy access to the sea front from this cottage.
The Esplanade takes you all the way to the old Quay to the left and to the town and the beaches to the right.

We had a very enjoyable stay here, the location of the cottage is great as it’s so close to the beach and the sea views are lovely, just a short walk from the town but far enough to be peaceful and not disturbed. It’s slightly quirky nature makes it all the more of an experience.

We had a wonderful time staying at Coastguard Cottage. The location is superb. It is nicely furnished and well equipped. The views from the main bedroom are stunning. Tall people be mindful of low headroom if showering. A visit to Dunster Castle is a must, as is a cream tea at Selworthy. Would definitely stay again.

The cottage is very peaceful and surrounded by a beautiful garden but is not that far from the shops. The dining table is in the bay window in the lounge and is a lovely sunny spot for breakfast, looking towards the sea.

The cottage is charming, very relaxing, well equipped and in the perfect location for the Southwest coast path walk. For good food 'The Old Ship Aground' just up the road is excellent and good value. I would wholly recommend Number 1 Coastguard Cottage.

A fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. Calm and peaceful but still within walking distance of many restaurants and tea shops. The West Somerset Railway Dunster Castle and Exmoor make great days out.

July 2018

This is a lovely place, set in a beautiful garden, with wonderful views of Bristol Sound. We were there during hot weather, but the cottage stayed cool and comfortable, with the help of sea breezes. Very convenient for walking in Exmoor, and convenient to the shopping district as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This a very well kept lovingly presented, warm and homely cottage to rent. The location by the sea is great, the heating is lovely and has a log fire. It is so clean and tidy and well I can't compliment it enough. Would recommend this to all. We are booking here again hopefully next year.
