Beautiful place, relaxing and cosy and accommodated whatever the weather threw at us!
Mrs Everard May 2018
It exceeded our expectations and was easily the best holiday cottage we have been in. The garden was beautiful and spacious, the owners were friendly and helpful and the cottage was decorated tastefully with high quality fixtures and fittings. Just lovely. We will use your company again. Many thanks
Ms Stone April 2018
We enjoyed a wonderful peaceful week in this lovely cosy cottage. Immaculately clean and well cared for, nothing was overlooked in terms of comfort. It was a rare treat to come home each evening to a warm kitchen heated by the aga. The cottage is well located in terms of proximity to lots of small local towns, the coast and several historic houses and gardens. Can highly recommend.
Mrs Taylor April 2018
Hillcombe Cottage is a lovely cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We have stayed four times and have thoroughly enjoyed every one. We fully intend to go back again.
Mrs Taylor October 2017
This is a lovely traditional and cosy cottage with everything to a high standard. The owners Mr and Mrs Gay could not be more helpful. We love it!
Mrs Crumpton September 2017
An ideal location to visit places of interest in Somerset.
Mr Haines August 2017
The property was of a very high standard and spotlessly clean. The owners live next door and were always at hand for any help and advice. The building was very well laid out and deceptively larger inside than can be seen with photos and on Google map pictures with huge amounts of storage space inside. Well designed in recent refurb and meticulously looked after. Need to mention the shower which was the best we had ever encountered which we have been told is down to the local high water pressure! Well placed for sightseeing with loads of tips left by others in a Visitors Book. Great local walks for family and dogs, ours especially loved swimming locally in the river along a disused railway now used for cyclists and walkers. Overall, we all loved the stay and were sorry to leave!
Mrs Reddick June 2017
Absolutely amazing cottage....the best we've ever had and over the years we have had many... will definitely be recommending and returning ourselves.
Mr Legg June 2017
This is a super cottage in a glorious position. The owners are so welcoming and the little attentions to detail make this a place above others. Having never been confronted with an AGA, it also made for an interesting learning experience which I successfully mastered. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Ms Rendle April 2017
Hillcombe Cottage is an exceptional place for a holiday. We've stayed in lots of holiday cottages, and this is certainly one of the very best. Lovely location, exceptionally well appointed, a gorgeous garden and friendly hosts. We'll be back!
Mrs Taylor April 2017
Beautifully appointed cottage with a lovely private garden.
Mrs Osborne April 2017
One of the best-equipped cottages we have ever rented. High standard of furnishing and decoration. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cake and fresh flowers were very welcoming. The garden is pretty, a decent size, and overlooking a field of prizewinning Red Devon cattle was a bonus!
Mr Page March 2017

This is a really lovely cottage in a very nice location. It is beautifully furnished and equipped. The Aga and woodburner make it delightfully cosy. Caroline Gay, the owner, made us feel very welcome indeed. The lovely fresh flowers and delicious cake on our arrival made it feel like a home from home. We have already booked our next visit!

Mr Mueller July 2016
We - a family of four with a dog - had a great time during our three weeks holidays at Hillcombe Cottage. When we first looked after the address at Google Maps / Streetview we only found some old pictures from 2011/2012 of a small farm which had definitely seen better days. It's unbelievable how much the cottage has changed since then. I have left some photos at Google Maps to show the difference. The landlord was always very helpful and kind. Whenever there was a question we not only got an answer but always a big help. We always felt very comfortable. It was a bit like visiting a long forgotten aunt and uncle in the countryside. Until now we haven't made any plans about our next summer holidays, but returning to Hillcombe Cottage is definitely one option.
Mrs Flack June 2016
We were made very welcome by the owners but they gave us privacy too. The cottage had all we needed and was in a good location for visiting the coast by car at Lyme Regis / Charmouth and the villages of Somerset and Devon. We enjoyed a meal at The Hive beach cafe ( owned by Mark Hix ) at Burton Bradstock, which had a National Trust car park alongside. Lyme Regis was a town that we enjoyed, having kept a traditional seaside feel but updating the facilities and promenade. We had mixed weather but found houses and gardens to visit too.
Mr Larkin May 2016
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a really relaxed stay. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Would strongly recommend this property.
Mrs Healey April 2016
Absolutely loved this place. The location is lovely and peaceful and there are plenty of things to do nearby. It has a v pretty garden of decent size and it was safe to let our toddler run around in it. Inside the cottage is charming - it's v comfortable, freshly decorated and has pretty much everything you might need. The owners live nearby and were helpful and friendly without being in the least obtrusive. I would definitely recommend it. Really liked the aga and there was a delicious cake waiting for us on arrival.
Mr Young March 2016
Amazing stay. Perfect for families and couples. So much to do in the area and great walks directly from the cottage. Lovely and peaceful and cannot wait to return.
