The Hayloft is a fabulous studio style retreat, a lovely barn conversion that includes a sauna and wet room on the ground floor.
The wonderful old stone pigsty is now a sheltered place for guests to enjoy a glass of wine.
There is seating at the front of the Hayloft and also around the corner of the building where there is another little grassy area for guests.
The open plan first floor has plenty of light and is divided into sleeping, relaxing and kitchen/dining areas.
The original shuttered windows open wide so that you can take in the views over the farmstead and farmhouse to the front.
High ceilings and original beams have kept the character of this lovely old building.
The kitchen area has been careful thought through so that guests have plenty of space and all the equipment they will need for meals in.
As well as the little dining table there is this breakfast bar
Start the day with a treat for breakfast. The whole purpose of this bolt-hole is for guests to relax and feel at home.
There is a comfortable sofa at the heart of the room
The bed is at the far end of the open plan living space, with clever use of the bookshelf to make it feel tucked away.
The linens are top quality and this comfy bed is perfect at the end of the day.
The sauna is on the ground floor in the corner of the shower-room. Perfect for easing muscles after walking in the Mendip Hills above Wells
The shower is wet-room style - this is a very spacious room.
Make the most of this extra treat!
There is plenty of room for two.
Deep windowsills and the original wooden shutters add to the lovely atmosphere here.
Back upstairs the dining-table fits well alongside the kitchen.
This lovely orchard is just behind the Hayloft - there are sometimes sheep grazing here. Such a traditional sight.
Another view of the setting for The Hayloft. The owner's farmhouse is just out of shot to the right of this picture.
This is the entrance to the farm.
The cottage is just a few miles from the Cathedral City of Wells for a shot of culture and of course some holiday shopping.

October 2015

The Hayloft is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. It is impeccably furnished and decorated to an extremely high level - everything has been thought of. A wonderful escape from the rat race. Gill was lovely and more than willing to help and advise in any way she could. We could have happily never left the cottage!

August 2015

The Hayloft was excellent. All the amenities were there and all were clean and working. The owner introduced herself on the first day and was as helpful as anyone could have wished for. The onsite sauna was a great asset after a long day exploring the local area. The Hayloft is an ideal place to stay for a quiet night in, and a walk/drive during the day, plus you can always come back to the loft and use the barbecue area for a little alfresco dining. Wonderful.
