Mrs Smallcalder September 2017
A lovely clean, fresh and comfortable property. Ideal for exploring Dartmoor and not far from Tavistock.
Very private, not overlooked, with a huge lawn suitable for doggy ball-throwing!
The Owner came to say hello and check that all was okay and was nearby if we had any problems but otherwise respected our privacy.
Mr Hattersley September 2017
The locations of the cottage on a sort of 'high plateau' on the edge of Dartmoor, is really quite unique - and particularly spectacular in the moonlight. But at the same time the cottage is really quite close to the facilities of Tavistock. The two features in combination make it a very attractive 'best of both worlds'.
Mrs Holmes August 2017
Attractive building, nicely furnished. Well equipped, nice addition of bread, eggs, cheese and cake left for us when we arrived.
Mrs Van Putten August 2017
great cottage, lovely welcome and stunning location. we have been to the area before, otherwise we would love to come back.
Mr Langer August 2017
A beautiful cottage in a magnificent scenery. Highly recommended!
Mrs Barguss June 2017
There are walks on to the moor that can be done from the cottage. We did a circular walk which took us to 6 tors and there are plenty of other walks one can do. Unfortunately the weather was not good during our stay; it was excellent to have the conservatory which we made good use of during the rainy days. Very interesting National Trust properties in the area, also good access to the north and south coast. We hope to return to Coachman's Cottage.
Mrs Berger June 2017
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage on the moor!
Mrs Marshall April 2017
The cottage went beyond our expectations with a gorgeous setting, really well laid out so that there was plenty of living space. It has a lovely garden that allowed our children to roam freely quite extensively. Small details had been really well thought through, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need for a self catering break, and the welcome basket was lovely.
Tavistock has a lot to offer, and is only 10 mins in the car, and with Tors to climb on the doorstep and the beach just an hour away, you cannot fault this little gem.
We would heartily recommend this property and would visit again.
Ms Royall March 2017
A peaceful and beautiful place to stay, I felt really at home and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet holiday with plenty of walks and things to see nearby.
Mrs Thompson October 2016
It was a lovely cottage set in beautiful surrounds, quiet, secluded and away from the busyiness of everyday life. Great walks and some right from the back door if you didn't want to drive.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and came away feeling refreshed and reinvigorated. I would highly recommend this cottage to any of my family or friends in Australia or elsewhere.
Mrs Taylor September 2016
A lovely cottage in a stunning location.
Mrs Mielke July 2016
It is a perfect location at the border to Dartmoor. The cottage is perfect. We liked the observatory very much. All the equipment was in a good state. Everything was very clean.
Mr Hills April 2016
Very much enjoyed our stay, tastefully modernised and equipped, very comfortable and warm, with lovely log burning stove. Good walks on the doorstep ; very attractive and interesting area of Dartmoor. Good facilities (including market) in Tavistock around 5 miles away.
Mr Barker March 2016
If you are wanting peace and quiet this is perfect! Also close enough to Moor to walk - beautiful hamlet. Holly the Owner very friendly and approachable. Lovely welcome package. We have been to many cottages with you - this has got to be one of the best!
Mr Graham February 2016
a perfect location for exploring Dartmoor and the walks, a superbly equipped and charming property, a helpful and welcoming but not intrusive property owner, Tavistock has everything and is within 5 mins drive, nothing too much more to say but brilliant and thanks to Classic Cottages too!
Mrs McCarthy October 2015
Coachman's cottage had absolutely everything we needed and more, completely exceeding our expectations. We were thrilled with the cottage, beautiful decoration, spacious and the location was splendid. Driving through Dartmour National Park to get there meant it was magical everytime. My son aged 3 didn't want to leave and my 4 month old was rather content too! We will be back!!
Mrs Dabinett October 2015

Mr Sayer June 2015
We had a fantastic week's holiday in Devon and Coachman's Cottage was delightful. Clean, spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful garden and in a fantastic setting - plus there was a lovely cake and other essentials in the welcome basket. Holly made us feel welcome without being intrusive - pointing out the path through the woods behind the house, sending a text before we arrived to say where the keys would be and offering to turn on lights if we were going to arrive late.
The cottage is convenient for Tavistock, the Tamar Valley, Plymouth and North Cornwall (we had a wonderful day at Tintagel). Local places of interest include Brentor, the stunning Lydford Gorge, Tamar walking trails and the little ferry from Plymouth to the twin 'smuggling' villages of Cawsand and Kingsand. The Elephant's Nest pub in nearby Mary Tavy (up and down a wonderful winding lane) does excellent food and has a beautiful garden over looking the Tavy valley.
Mrs Hawkins November 2014
We had a great 4 night stay at Coachman's Cottage. The cottage is decorated and furnished to a high standard and is very comfortable. It had everything we needed and the kitchen was particularly well equipped. It was great to arrive to freshly made cookies, bread, eggs, milk and local cheeses- thank you very much! We enjoyed chilling out in the lovely house as much as we did walking from the door out onto the moor. You can clearly see that the owner has put a lot of thought and detail into providing a high quality cottage, which made relaxing as soon as we got through the door very easy, and it was hard to leave!
Ms Cox September 2014
Coachman's Cottage is a lovely property, tastefully decorated and very comfortable set in an outstandingly beautiful area. From the chocolate brownies, milk, cheese and eggs in the kitchen on our arrival to the information available from the owner Holly and in the leaflets we found in the cottage - everything was nigh on perfect.
Mrs Harris August 2014
A beautifully presented cottage and very comfortable. The conservatory was lovely and warm even though it was raining outside!
On the days we didn't do much out we were all more than happy to return to our lovely cottage.
Mrs Simkins August 2014
Beautiful light and uplifting interiors, comfortable and warm, in a very attractive location on the edge of the National Park of Dartmoor. A lot of activities and places to visit in the area and further afield. Loved the welcome basket of fresh local bread, cheeses, milk, eggs, coffee, cakes, and fresh flowers and local handmade soap etc. We enjoyed hunting the local shops in 'The Best Market Town of the UK', i.e. Tavistock, to buy more for ourselves during the week.
We are already recommending the cottage to friends and family.
