Saffron Cottage faces west, the little front courtyard catching the late afternoon and evening sun.
The kitchen/dining-room is small but cleverly designed and well-equipped.
The view to the cottage (centre, right) from the train station carpark.
The sitting-room includes a living-flame gas fire set into the original fireplace.
The view from the little station’s platform, along the estuary towards St Ives in the distance.
The lovely old (ornamental) Cornish range in the kitchen.
An archway leads from the sitting-room through to the kitchen/dining-room.
The original phone – and it still works!
The surprisingly spacious bathroom is downstairs beyond the kitchen.
The bathroom includes a double shower cubicle as well as a bath.
The shower cubicle is fitted with a fabulous drench-head shower.
The cottage staircase has been imaginatively and colourfully painted.
The pretty double bedroom (Bedroom 1).
Crisp white hotel-quality bed linens complement the hand-painted bed and bedside cabinets.
The double bedroom looks out to the front of the cottage.
The Owners restore old furniture, and examples of their craft are all around the cottage.
Bedroom 2 is furnished with versatile 'zip and link' (double or twin) beds.
Bedroom 2 also looks out to the street outside.
The front courtyard may be small but it is a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by.
Every available corner is beautifully planted with colourful flowers.
There are climbing roses round the front door and in pots to either side.
Looking up the hill towards the little station, you can take the train to St Ives (change at St Erth), it takes about 25 minutes and saves trying to find a parking space.
As you drive through the town on your way to Saffron Cottage, the tidal river estuary is on your right.
From the cottage, it is an almost level walk along the river back towards the town....
....and you could always call in at the pasty shop on the way, then sit and admire the scenery over lunch!
Another view of the estuary at high tide, with the pretty King George V Walk along the left-hand side.
The Lido is beside the river estuary and the road leading to the beach.
The swimming pool is open-air and great for children on a hot summer’s day.
Picturesque St Ives is well worth a visit.
Porthminster Beach, one of St Ives’ beautiful golden beaches.
On its journey between Hayle and St Ives, the little seaside train stops at spectacular Carbis Bay.
Miles of golden sands stretch between Hayle beach and Godrevy lighthouse at the far end of St Ives Bay.
Paradise Park, Cornwalls top Wildlife Sanctuary is just up the road from Saffron Cottage.
Get up close and personal with some brightly coloured feathered friends.
Little children and big kids will enjoy the fun rides!
