A stunning cottage in a lovely location cosy and homely, perfect for visiting all locations in the South West. Love Cornwall. Liked the stream, garden, cozy warm cottage location next to St Just. Perfect - anyone complaining must be pretty hard to please!

May 2019

We were a married couple and were more than pleased with the cottage and its situation. It was very clean and well kept. The owner was helpful when we got there, but kept out of the way after that. It is a great hub to explore St Ives, Penzance, Lands end etc. Kitchen was well equipped, although we ate out most of the time.

March 2019

This is a very nice place to stay and all round a good holiday .

March 2019

We come to the St Just area twice a year to visit family and The Porthole is by far the best cottage we have stayed in, very comfortable and immaculately clean, loved the stream running through the beautiful gardens, just perfect. We are back in September!

September 2018

This is our 3rd year in the wonderful Porthole Cottage. It and its location are perfect for a great ho;day in West Cornwall.

August 2018

The Porthole is the best cottage we have stayed in so far. It was spotless and comfortable with everything you need for a great holiday. A beautiful property in a lovely location. Great walks straight from the door to Cape Cornwall or up onto the moor. Within easy walking distance of the town and pubs etc.

July 2018

Lovely location, thoroughly enjoyed our time at the porthole.

July 2018

Hi I recently stayed at the Porthole and can highly recommend it. The cottage is beautifully maintained and decorated, with everything you could possibly need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including two generous bedrooms with ensuite. The garden is also a delight with a steam running through it and plenty of space. The cottage is also located a short walk from St.Just from there you can get the open top bus to St.Ives or Penzance which is rather fun, you can also walk out to Cape Cornwall and pick up the coastal path.

May 2018

What more can I say.... I booked the Porthole for a surprise for my mum's 80th birthday. She was blown away by its beauty and enjoyed the holiday . There's nothing you can possibly fault with the porthole it's so perfect. I will mention the long corridor which runs between the kitchen and lounge are brought us much amusement .. We called it the long walk ??. The garden is also beautiful we had an afternoon Sat in the sun , with the babbling brook its just awesome....

May 2018

A lovely clean and welcoming cottage, in a good location for walking and visiting Cornish antiquities.

April 2018

A real Cornish find. Beautifully kept property with an idyllic stream in your own garden. Near perfection and more than happy to recommend. We hope to return in the not too distant future.

February 2018

Would highly recommend a stay here. Just unpack, as you will find a spotless, well equipped, peaceful retreat

We've stayed places where I've had to clean before unpacking but this was just perfect

The scenery and local walks are stunning, with a beautiful stream right beneath the cottage window. Loved it, thank you!

December 2017

The porthole is such a beautiful cottage. In a idyllic location. A stone throw from st just, and some great walks. Even when the weather is bad you can’t help but smile. Neil the owner was very helpful, and very knowledgable about his surroundings. We will be definitely be going back.

October 2017

The Porthole is a quirky cottage, and is perfectly situated for local walks, the town of St Just, and for trips out. I love that within five minutes I can be walking down Kenidjack valley, heading over to Botallack mines, or to Cape Cornwall, or a bit further will take you to Cot Valley or even Pendeen Lighthouse. The car can be left at home and one can enjoy beautiful Cornwall straight from the door.

October 2017

A clean, comfortable and cosy cottage, met by Neil who welcomed us and showed us around, A welcome pack was appreciated ; Neil also gave us useful info. about the locality. Cottage well equipped ( but if one is not very tall it could be challenging to reach the cups and glasses!) but no great worry. Loved the garden and the stream even though the weather was not good enough to spend time sitting in garden. It was easy to get to places such as St Ives and Penzance without long distance driving. A very good place to stay, good walks ,very restful .

September 2017

The Porthole Cottage is very well appointed and in a very convenient position for Sennen, St Ives etc. The cottage was immaculately clean on arrival and there was a much appreciated welcome pack. The owner, Neil, is very friendly and helpful.

Great coastal and inland walks straight from your front door with interesting historical sites to visit along the way. We had a lovely holiday introducing Cornwall to our Australian friends. The cottage was perfect and provided all we could have hoped for in terms of quality, comfort and convenience, even the weather was kind considering the time of year. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

We would recommend the porthole. It was far cosier and smarter than our own home!

October 2015

Everything was just perfect. The house was nicely decorated with some works of art, the rooms were quite big, very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Our host was very friendly and welcoming (thanks for the cake and apple juice and for the wood provided on arrival!) It is only a short walk into the village of St Just. We really enjoyed our holiday.

September 2015

Looking for the perfect place....look no further....

August 2015

Perfekt stay!

August 2015

The property was exceptionally clean and comfortable. All mod cons were there and it was beautifully decorated. We loved the garden and stream. The owner was very helpful and friendly too. The location was ideal - near the small (and very friendly) town of St Just for convenience but on the doorstep of magnificent countryside for cycling, walking, time on the beach and moorlands as well as a wealth of heritage. It is well maintained to a very high standard, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well fitted out, everything working well and easy to use. The stream in the garden is really pretty. Location is perfect for everything one could possibly want out of a holiday - beautiful scenery and surroundings, outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, pretty villages, beach not far away, coastal and moorland walks, cultural heritage of the tin mining industry and plenty of art including both local artists (such as the owner himself!) to Tate St Ives.

July 2015

A gem of a holiday retreat! Breakfast in the garden by a babbling brook was a dream come true. The country side around is breathtaking - Cornwall at its very best. Thank you all.

March 2015

We have stayed in quite a few 'Classic Cottages' and they have all been very good but The Porthole had that bit extra attention to detail which makes all the difference. It also happens to be in a very convenient spot for some wonderful walks straight from the cottage. A very nice welcome from the owner also added to a very positive experience.

September 2014

A picturesque cottage exceeding all expectations.

September 2014

The accommodation was spotless and superbly equipped. We were really impressed with all aspects of our stay - no aspect could have been improved. Thank you for everything.

December 2013

A lovely cottage, beautifully presented and a great place to relax.

October 2013

This is one of the best properties we have ever stayed at. Very comfortable with everything you need for a perfect holiday.

July 2013

The cottage is beautifully presented, first class really. Need a megaphone if one is in the kitchen and the other in the living room - very funny having such a long corridor. We loved The Porthole, fabulous walks down Kenidjack valley and over to the mine buildings and engine houses at Botallack. Or walk the coast path to Cape Cornwall, and it's only a short walk in to St Just. No need to use the car at all. True Cornwall, can't beat it.
