Mrs Bishop May 2021
Our stay at Westlake Barn was excellent and surpassed our expectations. It was beyond clean, there was everything (and more) that you would need and it was lovely and quiet. The location was excellent for exploring the local walks, beaches or village sights. We were very lucky with the weather but did enjoy an evening in the fabulous games room. Chris and Wendy were great hosts and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again

This was probably the best equipped property that we have ever stayed in. There was so much kitchen equipment. It would have been hard, for instance, to use all the cutlery up in a week. It was, also, very comfortable with high-backed chair and sofas, all with reclining seats. The property was very well heated, as well.
The games room was a real bonus point. We really enjoyed the games room and our pool improved as the week went on. It was very quiet and had very little light polution, dark skies. Just right for a peaceful getaway.
We would like to thank Chris and Wendy for all the thought that has gone into the property and for the provisions they provided on our arrival, plus the cream tea.

Westlake Barn is a dream come true. Set in a very quiet location at the end of a farm drive, the barn is furnished to a high standard and the kitchen has all the equipment you need (especially if you are eating in every day as we did). It was immaculately clean, with clear instructions about Covid cleaning routines and requirements and whilst we saw the owners (Chris and Wendy) it was all socially distanced (which was great). The games room came in very handy with darts, snooker table and table football plus a selection of local beers and wines (honesty bar). Although we had some reservations about travelling at this very strange time all four of us felt perfectly at ease. The barn living/dining/kitchen area is sufficiently large to be socially distanced and has completely separate sleeping and washing arrangements for two couples. We hope to return and maybe sample some of the local restaurants and pubs when life gets back to normal. Thank you Chris and Wendy.
Mr Wright August 2020
The barn was wonderful, great location, easy access to the local sites, everything you can think of has been catered for. Games room and utility room were an added extra. The only slight disappointment was the patio, looking a bit tired, covered in moss and the patio furniture was green from the weather but that is just being picky

Thanks so much for sharing your review. The owners have found that the moss on the patio area has been particularly vigorous this year - it has been treated three time already - but they appreciate your comments and will have another look at the area. We're really pleased that you had a great stay overall. Tanya, Customer Support
Mrs Storey June 2019
Chris and Wendy were fabulous hosts. Their dogs are lovely too. The welcome basket of homemade scones - jam - clotted cream - milk - Cornish butter and lovely bread was very kind. Nothing was too much trouble. The Barn is beautifully decorated and was perfect for our little dog. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The games room is spectacular - used most days by us. The friendly local farmer and his wife just through the gate sell their fabulous honey and their dogs are friendly too. A perfect holiday. We will go back.
Mrs Harper-Green April 2019
Great location for exploring Exmoor. Games room was a real bonus. Finally a cottage with comfortable sofas!
Mrs Bradford September 2018
Lovely, well equipped cottage in great location.
Mr Jones September 2018
Pictures don't do this cottage justice. Plus the interior was above and beyond our expectations. The welcoming cream tea/ bread/ drinks in the games room were a welcome after a long drive. It was clean, had great kitchen with all mod cons, (you could quite easily enjoy cooking a family roast) and was so quiet at night. Owners made sure you knew what to explore, and to make the most from your stay. Nearby Farmer and their family were also very friendly.
Mr Stott August 2018
Westlake Barn is a lovely. It has everything you will need in the kitchen, living room bedrooms bathrooms and garden/outside space. Its really open and very comfortable in the living and dining areas with a high ceiling and large windows flooding in lots of light. There is a handy stable door in the kitchen that allows you to keep children or dogs safe while being able to have an open door whilst cooking. There is a separate laundry room next to the games room. The games room came in really handy when the weather is not too good, we played lots of darts, pool, snooker and table football and there is a fridge where you can buy beer, wine, water and soft drinks from the mini bar if required. There is an outside BBQ with all the utensils too. The owners who live in the cottage near the Barn are very friendly and helpful. All in all a great place to stay if you are visiting Devon.
Mrs Duijf July 2018
We liked the Westlake Barn very much. It has a great atmosphere and we felt 'at home'. The kids (and we) loved the gaming room. Westlake Barn also has very friendly and helpfull owners.
Mr Lacey October 2017

Mrs Coolman September 2017
Really lovely cottage/barn. Owners were welcoming and on hand if needed but not intrusive. Immaculately clean property and very well equipped.
Miss Smith August 2017
Beautiful grounds and very nice hosts. A really peaceful and pleasant location. Welcomed with a cream tea and treats for the dog. The garden was dog friendly and enclosed as was the extended grounds.
The games room was an added touch of fun and also well equipped. We had a great time and would definitely consider returning. Sarah
Mrs Humphreys August 2017
This accommodation more than met our expectations with its up-to-date and superb finish throughout. The garden was a nice place for our dog to run around and the games room was brilliant for our girls with a choice of several different games. We had brought our own board games, but there was a good choice of such in the games room. Would thoroughly recommend this accommodation.
Mr Murphy July 2017
Perfect property for complete chill out. Host were very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Lovely accommodation very comfortable and well equipped kitchen. Games room had everything for a fun and entertaining night. Private garden which is ideal for pet owners, and all so the use of owners own gardens to stroll around in.
Mrs Granger July 2017
The property exceeded our expectations! The owners of Westlake Barn were perfect hosts and provided us with many tips and suggestions on places to visit in the area. Our dogs were made very welcome and allowed to explore the owners' grounds at Westlake Barn. The barn was spotlessly clean and by far the best holiday home that we have stayed in. Everything you could possibly wish for was provided along with a delightful Devon cream tea on our arrival, a crusty loaf, butter and milk. It was also very thoughtful to provide treats for our dogs, doggy towels (which we made good use of), food bowls and beds. The decor of the Barn was bright and airy and very welcoming. I am sure we will be booking a return trip very soon. Fabulous holiday had by all of us.
Mrs Lee June 2017

Mr Jackson August 2016
We spent a week at Westlake Barn and could easily have stayed longer. It was a real home from home with every little detail thought of. The property was spotlessly clean with gorgeous furnishings and everything you could possibly need provided. The owners were lovely, on-hand if you needed them but unobtrusive. A delicious cream tea, bread and flowers on arrival were a lovely surprise. By far the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and I cannot recommend a stay here enough. A beautiful home in a beautiful part of the country.
Mrs Riley July 2016
Lovely property. One of the nicest we have stayed in. Location very good. Property and grounds in very good order. A lovely holiday! Friendly reception by Chris on arrival & throughout holiday. Lovely touches on arrival .....cream tea, bread, butter, milk. Very dog friendly. Equipment for dog such as towels, biscuits, dog bowl & dog bed in games room too so not left on own in property. Everything you could ever need!

Mrs Todd December 2014
First time away from home for Christmas so was a little anxious, but everything was perfect. The neighbouring farm folk were very friendly, the local pub was welcoming and the owner was pleasant and Dillan the dog was great! Would happily recommend this holiday home and hope to return in the summer. Thank you.
Ms Corr September 2014
Westlake barn was a warm and comfortable retreat from the hustle of normal life. We spent two weeks relaxing thoroughly and exploring the local area. Our dog was intrigued by the local wildlife and the neighbouring six dogs were very friendly. The neighbours were welcoming and quick to stop for a chat, I highly recommend sampling some of the farmer's freshly extracted honey. We didn't want to leave!
Mrs Christie April 2014
The location was really lovely overlooking the fields of a working farm next door. The farmer's family were very friendly and helpful. The games room was well kitted out and all the equipment was well looked after. The main living area was really comfortable and our 2 dogs enjoyed investigating the field at the back of the barn a great few days were had by us all, thank you
Mr Tomes February 2014
Excellent location and all very friendly. Bedrooms were a bit small, but overall a good place to stay. Games room was excellent
Mrs Knight September 2013
Westlake Barn is beautiful, comfortable, clean, so peaceful and very well equipped. I'm very fussy about hygiene but I could walk on the floors without getting my feet dirty! The games room is great with pool table, dart board, piano, bar area and seating, again this is kept very clean. The utility room is clean, has good facilities and you can use it whenever you want. We had a really relaxing time here and it far exceeded our expectations of a self catering holiday in Devon. Places worth a visit are Dulverton, Dunster village and castle, Lynton & Lynmouth (try the cliff railway) such a pretty area and you may be able to see Wales on a clear day and Tarr Steps. Absolutely wonderful break.
Mrs Barrett September 2013
Would thoroughly recommend Westlake Barn. It's finished to a high specification, is extremely comfortable and the views are stunning. The Manager/Housekeeper was extremely helpful and friendly as was the farmer. We shall definitely book this property again and bring our walking boots!!!!
Mrs McAvoy May 2013
Lovely open plan converted barn with a private garden and the bonus of a games room. Very quiet location, with friendly farmer and housekeeper that make you feel very comfortable.
