Mrs Marshall April 2019
Lovely location by the sea, it is remote so be prepared to travel at least 20 min to half hour to the nearest shops via Devon lanes
Mrs Evans July 2018
Hallsands and South Hallsands share the same postcode but are about 2 miles apart so sat nav doesn't work. As honestly described, property is very remote and on a steep little cliffside but as long as you are prepared for that it's fine.
Mrs Austin October 2017
Cottage was excellent; location a bit remote for us, especially as the weather was not so good. Great for very keen walkers who don't mind steep hills !
Mr Ghirelli September 2017
This is an ideal cottage to stay at if you wish to be away from the madding crowd. The cottage is located in the South Hams right on the coast at the top of low cliffs, and affording fine views north and south across Start Bay. It is of course very remote, some ten or more miles from the nearest towns (Kingsbridge and Dartmouth) and certainly not readily accessible to supermarkets or even small shops. To reach Hallsands, it is necessary to drive down narrow sunken and banked Devon Lanes that will allow vehicles in one direction only, though there are frequent passing places. You step out of the house and are confronted with wonderful vistas along the coast and over the surging sea, and looking down on the quiet expanse of Hallsands beach. There is immediate access to the Coast Path so that the location is ideally suited to walkers. Dartmouth and Salcombe are especially worth visiting, and there are fine walks towards for example,East Prawle, over beyond Salcombe, and to Start Point lighthouse and Slapton and Dartmouth. The cottage itself is comfortable and well appointed and ideal for a week or more hidden away from the more crowded and hectic world.
Mrs Ridley September 2017
Well equipped property in a great location. Mr Walker
Mrs Mitchell August 2017
Beautiful secluded situation, with wonderful views and superb walking just outside the door. It's a quirky and charming little house. We were very happy with it.
Mr Bayly June 2017
The cottage is lovely with the internal space being larger than we expected.
The bedrooms upstairs were surprisingly spacious, with lovely views of the sea from the windows at the front and hills from the windows at the back. Downstairs the property was spotless, and I had no hesitation in using all the equipment provided (I usually wash it before use). The property is very well equipped with everything you could really want for a self catering holiday.
As mentioned in the property literature, the cottage is at the top of the cliff, and there are steps to negotiate to get to the cottage, so you need to be 'able footed'.
There are no local shops and we went prepared, but milk, tea and coffee were left for us as well as a bottle of wine, thank you for that.
We felt at home there from the minute we entered the cottage, and spent a lovely week there.
Mr Davies June 2017
Great easy walks to Start Point and Beesands especially good for nice pub and fish restaurant
Mr Deeman April 2017
The location provided an excellent base from which to hike sections of the South West Coastal Path.
Miss Stange April 2017
Fantastic location, away from it all, but very narrow access roads!
Miss Deas September 2016
Absolutely amazing location - perfect for watching the sun rise over the horizon with a coffee, or just watch the sea in the evening with a glass of wine. Lots of lovely walking right from the doorstep - just make sure you leave enough time to take in the views. Wonderfully cosy and homely - just a shame it wasn't cold enough for us to light the log burner whilst we were there!
Mrs Tait August 2016
Great location for swimming, walking and getting away from stuff. The cottage was nicely decorated and equipped with a lovely living space downstairs. Everything was spotless and we really appreciated the bottle of wine left for us,thank you.
Miss Roberts August 2016
We enjoyed an amazing honey moon there & would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle & bustle of every day life
Dr Andrijasevic July 2016
Casa Marinero is fabulous for a short or long break. The location is absolutely stunning: sea, cliffs and seagulls. It's private and secluded and it's like ones own piece of paradise. It's also perfectly located for shorter or longer walks along the costal path - the great advantage is that it's in a small bay with very few visitors so it's never busy. It's quite far from any shops so make sure you bring all you need, at least for the first few days of your stay commences on Friday. And, go and explore! It's magnificent.
Mrs Robson May 2016
What an amazing location! A beautiful cottage with everything we could ask for. Breathtaking views right outside the front door.
Mrs Hughes May 2016
A beautiful location,- the climb up definitely a workout, but worth it for the views. The swallows arrived while I was there and I watched a magnificent sunrise while nursing a cup of coffee from the bench outside the front door. In the afternoon I followed the sun to the back terrace where I took tea and read a John Grisham novel - one of the many provided. I did sortie into Dartmouth and Kingsbridge and made a trip to Cornwall. I walked the cliff paths and chatted to a friendly neighbour. A wonderful holiday, relaxing in the evening by the woodburner. Reluctant to leave.
Mrs Burraway May 2016
Beautiful cottage in stunning location. Not for everyone due to access, but well worth the effort. Just back from 4th visit!!!
Mrs Nuwar September 2015
A really comfortable and clean cottage with spectacular views of the sea in one of the most picturesque areas of Devon. Great for walks and just chilling out.
Miss Nannini August 2015
We had a lovely, relaxing holiday at Casa Marinero. The views are stunning and the coast path is beautiful to explore in both directions. The house is cosy and welcoming and has everything you would need. The beach is also great for a quick swim with a warm shower only a short walk away. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for peace and quiet, or looking to explore the coast path/ south hams.
Mr Hetherington June 2015
Stunning location, easy walk to pub with good Restaurant, + fish shack restaurant. Chill-out place.
Mrs Franklin June 2015
Our 3rd visit now and we love it. So peaceful with an amazing view. Easy access to SW coastal path and on a good day the whole beach to yourself! What more needs to be said!!
Mrs Myers May 2015
The cottage was exactly what I expected from the pictures and description. It was very well equipped, clean and tidy. The bedding was of high quality and was totally kept us warm and cosy. We regarded the cottage as our home for the week, not just a cottage.
Mr McNamara September 2014
Mr Richards September 2014
Idyllic setting, comfortable accommodation with plenty of thought given to equipment - and a bottle of wine on the table awaiting our arrival. What more can you ask?
Frau Koschar August 2014
A miraculous, quiet place with Cliffs, beach and Coast Path directly outside the front door. Ideal for relaxing, swimming, walking, reading and pondering, for switching off and settling down.
Mr Hennecke August 2014
very beautiful and perfekt to relax!
Mr Bradley August 2014
We enjoyed our stay and had really good weather & calm seas. Plenty of books in cottage for bad weather but I imagine the location would be a bit bleak in stormy weather.
Ms Scott June 2014
Lovely cosy cottage, far away from the madding crowd. Literally a step away from the edge, you almost feel you might be on a ship!
Mrs Day September 2013
