The open plan living/dining-area is separated from the kitchen-area by a low beam.
Hayloft is one of just four barn conversions in the historic National Trust village of Barrington.
The enclosed garden is at the front of the cottage - fully enclosed and catches plenty of sunshine.
The new kitchen balances perfectly with the traditional style of this lovely welcoming property.
This window opening is a feature of the original barn when it really was a hayloft. This listed building has this low sill so do keep closed when children are staying.
This is the master bedroom which has a new en suite shower-room.
There is a lovely farmhouse dining-table - plenty of seating if your party books Flax Barn too.
An overall view of Hayloft in its setting within the small group of barn conversions - just three others.
You will feel welcome as soon as you arrive at Hayloft. It is a real home-from-home.
This is the new en suite shower-room.
There is a wonderful family bathroom too, with a deep bath and a separate shower cubicle.
This is the single bedroom. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor.
The lawned top part of the garden is a good place to sit and enjoy a drink.
Mind your head on this feature beam between the kitchen and living-area.
A traditional barn conversion with all you will need for a lovely stay in this National Trust conservation village.
Have a wonderful day out on the North Somerset coast, from Minehead to Dunster and beyond. Castles, Steam Trains, cream teas and ice-cream will all be within easy reach.
Fancy a spot of bird-watching? Visit Ham Wall and the Somerset Levels nature reserves and see wonderful wildlife - and maybe Glastonbury Tor.
Cross the border into Dorset and spend a day in historic Lyme Regis. Visit the Cobb and the quaint harbour and hunt for fossils at low tide.
Visit the atmospheric 14th Century ruined castle at Nunney. It's owned by English Heritage and visitors are allowed entry via a wooden bridge.

One of the best holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed at. Very homely and nicely furnished. Great location, easy parking and could walk to a fabulous pub! Very nice enclosed garden for the woof too. Just one teeny thing…. And I only mention it as it’s an easy fix….. Please change the pillows for soft fluffy ones!

Reply from Classic Cottages

We are delighted you had a lovely time and found the cottage to be one of the best you have visited. We shall pass the request for fluffy pillows to the owners so guests can have the perfect nights rest. We would love to welcome you back soon. Sarah R, Customer Support

The Hayloft is a lovely property, with a pretty garden which we enjoyed sitting in during the recent heatwave, and very comfortable indoor accommodation. It has a homely touch (we suspect it was a family home at some point in the past) and we appreciated its pleasant décor, good bathrooms and excellent kitchen (although would have liked a bit more grocery storage space and a little less "stuff" in the crockery, cutlery and utensil department)! Barrington is a great village to stay in - good central location for exploring the area and particularly convenient for us visiting family in Martock and Ilminster.

Great place, in a lovely village with an exceptional pub, The Barrington Boar, at its heart. Be sure to book. The Hayloft is lovely, with a fabulous combination of quirky and luxurious. The bed was very comfortable and the sofas very accommodating. A very well equipped kitchen and decent glassware made the stay very pleasant indeed.

A really lovely property in a beautiful village. Will definitely return.

Return visit to the Hayloft. Great cottage in a great location but very cold on arrival and took hours to warm up.

Reply from Classic Cottages

We're delighted that you enjoyed your return stay. We're sorry the exceptionally cold spell meant that Hayloft took a little longer than normal to warm up. Hopefully the cosy log burner soon got you warm! We hope to welcome you back again soon. Julie, Customer Support

Well equipped cottage in pretty village. Lovely walk to Barrington Court but watch the speed of the traffic! We did find the bed uncomfortable with a very soft mattress unfortunately.

We are so glad to read your lovely comments - the owners will be delighted that you found the property so well equipped. We are sorry that the mattress didn't quite suit your preference, it is hard to find something that suits all guests and hope that this didn't impact too much on your stay. Sarah, Customer Support

We love staying at the Hayloft, it feels so homely and is always extremely clean and welcoming when we arrive. Barrrington is a beautiful village and we absolutely love the food at the Barrington Boar.

Good location and very comfortable stay. Well stocked kitchen with all utensils and equipment that I needed or could think of. Stocked with hand sanitizer and cleaning products for covid safety.

Local pub very nice.

We had a wonderful week, the cottage is perfect. We took our small dog and had some wonderful walks. Must recommend the local pub, the food was amazing

It's so great to hear what a wonderful time you had at Hayloft. It sounds as if you made the most of the beautiful walks in the surrounding area. Thanks so much for your food recommendation. We hope to welcome you back very soon. Julie, Customer Support

Cottage nice and generally very comfortable. Let down by several cleanliness issues. The cottage is also directly alongside a road on a bend, which despite being in the countryside had a fair amount of traffic going past at times - one of the bedrooms' window opens directly onto this road. There is no pavement to walk into the village proper so those with young kids or dogs may find this a bit off putting. However, once in the village there are quite a few off-road footpaths to explore.

Wonderful stay in pretty location. We had a very relaxing break.

Fantastic retreat, great location, we found it value for money. Great kitchen with all the modcon's.

A beautiful cottage that had everything we needed and more.

Fantastic property, location and value for money. The photos don't do it justice.

Comfortable and cosy well designed barn conversion. Decorated with fun quirky artwork. Pretty sunny enclosed garden, ideal for those bringing a dog. Excellent base for exploring south Somerset/Dorset. I would stay again.

he property was more spacious than we were expecting, the photographs did not quite do it justice. It was extremely well equipped, plenty of extra crockery etc. We also appreciated having 2 very comfortable sofas AND a good armchair - we find many small cottages have only just enough seating for the number of guests catered for, not any extra. The bathrooms were both immaculate, plenty of hot water and good showers. The bedrooms too were very comfortable, good quality bedding. Lovely enclosed garden, which despite being by the small road through Barrington did not feel overlooked or noisy. It was very well equipped with garden furniture. The parking was perfectly ok for one estate car, or two smaller cars.

The property was lovely, very clean and comfortable, full of character and the decor was interesting and fun. Thanks for providing logs for the woodburner. We hope to come again!

We absolutely loved our week away in The Hayloft. The upside down living meant you could look at the sheep and horse in the field across the road whilst watching TV. Sunday lunch in the Barrington Arms was amazing and the locals were really friendly. It’s in a great location for beautiful country drives and close enough to the coast for trips to Lyme Regis and Seaton. We would love to stay there again.

We had a fabulous time, Hay Loft was very spacious and a really well kitted out kitchen. We will be recommending to friends and family

Delightful upside-down cottage with modern kitchen and bathroom. Tastefully furnished and cosy. Great location for visiting the coast and surrounding countryside including national trust properties.

We had a very comfortable few days - the village is very pretty & Barrigton Court is well worth visiting. Good food at the local pub. The road can be busy at times - we discovered a mirror in hedge opposite on our last day which helped with pulling out of the drive!

Fabulously clean and comfortable cottage, ideal for exploring Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Avon and of course Somerset.

Impressed with the administration, advice and regular contact made by the Classic agency staff - this was very helpful and much appreciated. We may need to consider location or roads and local attitude to this if booking again in the future - we do need some peace and quiet when having a break.

The Hayloft is a really well sized property and very comfortable and well furnished, like a home stay. The kitchens and bathrooms are high-spec and well fitted out. The location is very peaceful. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely, comfortable property in a beautiful NT village. The local pub The Barrington Boar was very welcoming. It was an excellent location for visiting many NT properties.

Had a wonderful stay at the Hayloft. Barn was fully equipped with a 'homely and cosy' feeling. Didn't want for anything in the Barn and extras such as wood for the burner and milk and biscuits were very much appreciated. Would definitely return and recommend The Hayloft without hesitation. Thank you.

A clean, comfortable, cosy, well appointed cottage... home from home ... as well as being a great base for exploring the local area.

I don't think as regards cleanliness, comfort or equipment it could be fairly faulted. It is tastefully decorated. Especially nice to find cups, saucers, teapots, and an interesting selection of mugs.

Comfortable spacious accommodation 5 minutes walk to a great pub.

Great location, we loved Barrington. It’s such a pretty village. Being just a few minutes walk from Barrington Court was a huge bonus- a fabulous place and we loved it.

A very cozy cottage and in the living room you can enjoy the setting sun. A great fireplace, which is very easy to use and heats up very quickly. The many pictures sometimes make you feel like in a gallery. A good base for touring the great outdoors, to Cider Mills, to many beautiful gardens and National Trust locations nearby.

You happily rearranged our visit which we had to cancel due to the bad snow back in March. No problems rebooking all went smoothly. Beautiful house and walks I'm sure we will be back.

It was perfect there is nothing more I can add..simply perfect!

Barrington village is idyllic, it’s perfectly possible to spend a day idling the time away walking, visiting Barrington Court, browsing in the craft studios and talking with the makers. We managed to buy most of our Christmas gifts in the woodturners studio, including a couple of beautiful souvenirs for ourselves. We will definitely use Classic Cottages again if we want to visit the West Country.

Well appointed cottage in an excellent location. Pub within 5 minutes walk had first class restaurant. Highly recommended.

A lovely cottage in a great location with a good village pub serving good food and beer within a few minutes walk. A National Trust property within 15 minutes walk through the village.

Barrington was a good base to explore Somerset and National Trust properties in particular.

Very comfortable and clean cottage/barn in lovely village. Within easy strolling distance of the Barrington Boar pub, which provides fantastic food and is very welcoming and friendly. Excellent central Somerset location with loads to see and do without having to drive for miles.

A fantastic cottage, decorated with great taste. Everything exceeded our expectations and we are sure to come back.

A very comfortable, roomy cottage decorated and equipped to a pretty high standard. We had a most enjoyable week in this lovely part of Somerset - walking, visiting gardens & houses and just chilling.

The property is beautifully decorated, full of character, spacious and with the benefit of having 2 large bathrooms. Barrington is a charming and friendly village with easy access to many places of interest. You can easily walk to Barrington Court and on to the Somerset levels. We were lucky that our visit corresponded to the village Open Gardens Sunday which was an excellent opportunity to see parts of the village and views we wouldn't otherwise have seen.

Excellent position for Devon and Dorset coasts with a very good dining pub very close by. The cottage is well decorated, large for 4 people and well equipped. The west facing front garden is private and excellent for afternoon and evening sitting out.

Great cottage for an out of season break , it may be cold and frosty outside but certianly a warm and cosy retreat inside , thank you .

This property has been well equipped and well maintained. The owners have considered the needs of their guests a have not stinted in providing for them. Providing small items such as toilet rolls, hand soap and cleaning materials make a difference to guests who need to travel light. A excellent cottage for those who like to visit National Trust properties and/or explore the delightful county of Somerset.

An unusual cottage with the lounge upstairs, bright and cheerful and thoughtfully set up for visitors any-time of the year, a real home with comfortable beds and delightful modern artwork everywhere.

We stayed for a very restful 10 days at Hayloft Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it . The cottage is a high quality barn conversion decorated to a very good standard with plenty of artwork, decorative ornaments and country-themed knick-knacks. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The village is beautiful with plenty of thatched cottages and a very good pub. The National Trust property Barrington Court is a must-visit and Ilminster is close by with its quaint shops and streets and also a handy Tesco’s if you need to do some shopping. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hayloft to our friends and hope to stay there again sometime.

very beautiful and spacious cottage

Excellent value for money, situated in a charming conservation village. Warm and cosy, an ideal base for travelling in Somerset.

Beware of the Wood lice!!!

Reply from Classic Cottages

We were so sorry to hear that you shared this lovely property with some unwelcome woodlice - we appreciate this was particularly troublesome as this is your own particular 'bete noire' (mine is spiders!!!), but we can happily report that the Owner has ensured that any additional visitors have been evicted.
