Lovely cosy character property in a super location

All of Captains Retreat was fabulous, very cosy and comfortable. A real place to get away from it all, although we were on a walking weekend , we could have moved in. Would recommend for a real get away. Lovely location and perfect for our Southwest Coast path walking we are completing later this year. Thanks so much to Maggi and her housekeeping team for a great place to stay.

Great location for a Winter holiday. Very comfortable and so quite. Would we go back, yes we would.

Excellent cottage with all the walks on your doorstep . Fabulous location

Great location but a tired interior in need of a good clean. No outside space to sit.

Captain's Retreat had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The property is beautifully decorated and it is ideally placed for all that Boscastle has to offer. Don't bother bringing any books with you - there are five bookcases full of books of every genre, both fiction and non-fiction, for you to read during your stay. Boscastle has plenty of places to eat, a great Fish and Chips takeaway, village store, bakery and gift shops, as well as the fascinating Museum of Witchcraft and, of course, the South West Coast Path. Can recommend a dip in the harbour when the tide's in too!

Beautiful location. Slightly disappointed by cleanliness.

A beautiful cottage. Great for relaxing in Boscastle or visiting the surrounding area. We loved it.

Lovely house with everything you need that feels more like a home than your usual holiday accommodation. Easy to settle in, clean and comfortable, well equipped and in an excellent location.

Central location Lovely coastal walks

Beautiful cottage in wonderful location. The view from the cottage is outstanding. Plenty for everyone. Bakery within minutes of the cottage to get breakfast baps, or pasties for lunch, gorgeous tea room for afternoon tea and Cobb Webb Inn for a delicious evening meal.

Spar shop for all provisions needed. Gift shops for those last minute gifts and magnificent views of the sea just a few steps away.

A truly wonderful holiday to be had here at Captains Retreat. Would thoroughly recommend.

A lovely property in a great location, both for exploring Boscastle itself and also the rest of the North Cornwall coast. A few minor changes would have made it a 5 star property.

With all the problems and stress associated with the Pandemic we desperately needed a break and Captains Retreat has provided that in bundles. Like a breath of fresh air.

Loved the house, beautifully decorated and furnished and lovely well equipped kitchen. The house’s location couldn’t have been better. Would love to come back again as a week was too short.

Boscastle is a really nice place to stay. This cottage’s location is perfect. You get to park your car right up front and there’s a beautiful river in front, coastal walks and good restaurants too. And there’s not too many people even during the holidays.

Excellent location, beautiful cottage, really comfortable and spacious. Good Wi-Fi (important for our teenage son). Loved the views of Boscastle and easy access to the village amenities. We had a wonderful holiday.

Fabulous location, ideal for walks to local shops and Pub. Lovely Dog Friendly beach just down the road, Widemouth Bay, and a short drive to places like Padstow and Port Isaac. Looking forward to getting back there.

What a lovely stay we have had at the captains retreat! We visited Boscastle during Storm Dennis and it was lovely to watch the storm’s effect on the harbour from the windows of the safe, warm, homely 3 storey house. The lovely owners contacted us to check we were ok in the storm. This cottage is located very close to the harbour in a fantastic location to be able to explore the hills around the harbour on the various walks and to visit the village shops and pubs. There is parking right outside the front of the house.

Second time we have stayed at Captain Retreat, once in September and once in January, both visits excellent and up to our expectations to recharge our batteries. Close to pubs (Cobwebs we liked the best) and restaurants so we did not need to us the car. Plenty to do around the area. The Captains retreat is great for us just a couple but would be great for a family. We will certainly be staying their again.

It's great to hear that you've enjoyed another stay at Captain's Retreat. Boscastle and the surrounding areas are really lovely with some fantastic coastal walks and super pubs and eateries on offer. We look forward to welcoming you back for your third visit! Alison, Customer Support

Lovely position right on the harbour and close to the village amenities

Probably one of the best locations in Boscastle,

The location and views were stunning. We regularly holiday in Boscastle and this has been one of the better houses to stay. From the description, i thought there might be a shower cubicle in both bathrooms, but the one there was proved to be large and easy to use. Sitting room chairs were very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Everything was of good quality.

a very comfortable cottage, well equipped and in an amazing location in the heart of Boscastle

Beautifully finished cottage, with attention to detail on everything you might need for a restful and comfortable stay!

Individual and unique accommodation

Fantastic location, yards from harbour & river. Cottage well equipped with lots of nice touches. Library was full of diverse titles suiting all tastes & interests. Welcome pack very generous & welcoming. Suited 5 adults & 1 dog beautifully.

This cottage is in a great location, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome package just makes your arrival even more special.

Captains Retreat was one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in, for cleanliness, decor, furnishings, comfort and equipment, everything you could possibly need was there. It was so cosy, just like home from home and also in a beautiful position with all amenities you need in the village. We shall definitely recommend this cottage to our friends and will visit it again for another holiday. Plus a very nice welcome pack, best we've ever been left.

Stunning and very comfortable/homely house in the heart of everything yet still very quiet, which keeps us returning year after year!

The photos do not do justice to this property. It is finished to a very high standard offering all the home comforts needed. Location is excellent on the harbour. A fabulous place to stay!

A treat to stay in a cosy Cottage in a prime location for everything Boscastle has to offer.

Very comfortable and attractively decorated house. Perfect for a variety of great local walks. So easy to top up on provisions at local shops and Boscastle Farm Shop.

The location and views were stunning. overall a lovely cottage in Boscastle Harbour.

Delightful cottage in wonderful location. Cosy, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean

The house was well equipped with lovely furnishings and décor and an overall high standard of renovation of the property was evident in every room. It was spotlessly clean, quirky and interesting and generally a very pleasant place to be. Lots of books, stunning and romantic location with sea, coastal paths, gift shops, museum and places to eat all on the doorstep. The best ice cream in the world is sold just a few feet away :-) We spent a lovely week there and would happily stay again.

The property was very welcoming warm and cosy. The whole family enjoyed it. Boscastle was tranquil and interesting with walks up to cliffs and harbour.

The location of this property makes it really special!! Every detail of your stay has been thought about from the smallest saucepan to the luxurious bedding!

Very homely comfortable cottage in a superb location. Ideal for long walks and days out on the local beaches.

Lovely house in an amazing location. Very well equipped, clean and comfortable.

When we saw where the position of Captains Retreat was for ourselves we were amazed, it was stunning. My husband and I liked the authentic feel of the house (although our daughters prefer a more modern feel) the bedrooms were lovely

Thoroughly recommend this place to anyone .

A gorgeous place to stay. House is beautiful in a wonderful location. This is our 5th visit to the Captain's Retreat and we look forward to returning again soon.

Everything was just right, part of the village yet higher and set- back so that it felt private. A view of the harbour added to the tranquility that a winter holiday provides. The location of The Cobweb was perfect - many a pint and delicious supper were enjoyed there! Maggie and David, who happened to be at home next door for our week, were welcoming, knowledgable and helpful. Hoping to spend Christmas there next time!

Perfect cottage, perfect location. Decor is beautiful and stylish, and we felt at home from the minute we stepped inside. Many walks from the front door, including the coastal path. The river was in front of the house, its gurgling the perfect accompaniment to a good nights sleep.

A wonderful book collection for all ages and tastes, music and games to borrow during our stay. Lovely neighbours in adjoining cottages.

Captain's Retreat is a beautiful property in a fantastic location. It's a real home from home, with everything we needed. There is even an excellent range of books and DVDs, and we could have done with a rainy day to make the most of these! Lots of lovely walks from the front door meant we didn't need to use the car every day. Very convenient being across the bridge from the Harbour Light cafe which does excellent snacks, lunches and cream teas. We would definitely like to return one day.

The captains retreat is a really lovely place to stay , so comfortable, well equipped and right in the heart of beautiful Boscastle. We felt truly lucky to have found it.

We really enjoyed our stay in Boscastle. Very cosy, nice cottage with all necessary comfort. We'll come back!

Captain's Retreat's location is fantastic, in the middle of everything but set back just enough for privacy. Two separate full size bathrooms on two different floors is a big bonus, as is the parking space right outside. It's full of character, homely and warm, we've just stayed for the fourth year running and will definitely be back next year.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in the house, I thoroughly recommend it.
