After a day of body boarding, walking, cycling it was always a pleasure to return to a welcoming and cosy property.
Orchard Barn was just as described and the location was great, just near the areas in Cornwall we wanted to visit etc. Sue and Peter were most friendly and helpful, offering the perfect get away-homemade goodies too. We would definitely recommend classic cottages as it was one of the nicest properties we have stayed in.
The cottage is situated in a wonderful, quiet and quiet area. Both to the north and to the south, it is only a few minutes to explore an ideal starting point around West Cornwall. The decor of the house is very good, everything is thought of, even the kitchen is missing nothing. The house is very tastefully renovated and furnished. The handover took place very practically with key box and we had on arrival home-made biscuits; wine and German children's books :-), thank you! but....the bedroom level lies half in the ground. Ventilation is a big problem despite the large doors. The bedrooms are also low and carpeted. The moisture is hanging in the carpets and curtains just as in the beds and in the bedding. The humid dusty air in the bedrooms is very unpleasant, for Asmathiker certainly harmful to health. I think the beds are not habitable. The rubber of the washing machine is moldy and the smell runs through the whole kitchen. Among the sofas is the previous tenants popcorn. We had to free the chairs in the garden from spider webs. The washing line in the garden is in the shade and is completely filthy.
We're very happy to see that you enjoyed the location of Orchard Barn and found it very well equipped. We've noted your points about the bedrooms and ventilation - it's very important to keep the air circulating in older converted properties like this by opening windows etc, especially in warm humid weather such as during your week. Generally we'd suggest that guests who are susceptible to damp may find a more modern property more comfortable. We have shared your comments with the owners who were really sorry to hear they may have missed some areas when preparing the cottage, and these have been addressed now. Tanya, Customer Support
Lovely barn conversion in a beautiful, tranquil spot and near to both the north and south coasts of Cornwall. We had a great week.
We were looking for a comfy cottage to stay after our days out exploring and this cottage had exactly that. Log Burner and big comfy sofas to relax into, off the beaten track so peaceful. Well equipped, had everything we needed for self catering.
We loved the cottage and the clotted cream and scones and wine and Easter bunny they left for my son on arrival even put milk in the fridge for us . Fantastic after a long drive down. A very clean luxury cottage in a beautiful location a real hidden gem we would return.
A lovely cottage. Beautifully clean, modern and well furnished. Very cosy as has both central heating and an extremely efficient wood burner. Perfect location for a short out of season break or a summer holiday.
Beautiful Barn...thank you to Sue and Pete for the bottle of wine and the cream tea. You rescued our holiday by accommodating us at short notice after initially choosing a poor quality property and having to be moved. Lovely clean well furnished property with all the utilities we needed. The wood burner was great during the chilly evenings. Beautifully peaceful with lovely gardens. Not far to drive to St Erth for the train to St Ives for a nice day out.
What a Fantastic place, we really enjoyed our time here as a young family of 4. Very child friendly with some absolutely beautiful places within reach. Great location, we especially enjoyed the trampoline in the garden, and the really friendly owners. Would highly recommend the minack theatre and Porthcurno beach. Beautiful!
A well renovated and well equipped barn in a tranquil location. Great for exploring both local coasts as well as good access to major roads for exploring further afield. A bonus being near to St Erth station.
A charming, comfortable property with many thoughtful extras provided. Mr and Mrs Short the Owners, called to see that everything was well - they could not have been more kind and helpful.
nice touch that owners did visit us on our second day. Wine and biscuits on arrival were good and cream tea also a nice touch
The cottage was really lovely, comfortable and equipped with everything needed for a holiday stay. The wine and biscuits on arrival along with the cream tea delivered personally by the owners who were really nice was a lovely touch. It's in beautiful countryside and within easy reach of north and south coast. Easy to leave your car at St Erth station for trip to St Ives.
A lovely, quiet location, great for visiting interesting places. One of the most comfortable cottages we have visited.
Beautiful property, really comfortable and well equipped. Perfect location to explore both the North and South coasts. Had a wonderful holiday. Lots of thoughtful touches and extras.
My mother and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at Orchard Barn. The owners ,Peter and Sue,put themselves out to ensure we had everything we needed. We wanted for nothing. We have been holidaying in Cornwall for the last 12 years. Orchard barn was the loveliest we have stayed in. It is beautifully furnished, very clean and there were lovely touches for children in the twin bedroom. The accomodation is well signposted and the local lanes are wide enough not to get stuck with oncoming cars down single lanes. There is a narrow lane down to the cottage but it is only for access to the cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped. We were also supplied with a windcheater, balls and tennis raquets, iron and board and hairdryer. The cottage is close to magnificent beaches such as Gwithian Towans and Hayle beach. There is a lovely train ride from St Erth to St Ives. You won't be disappointed !
Beautiful cottage in a quite rural location but close the fantastic beaches and super sight sightseeing opportunities on your door step. Very relaxing cottage that has everything you need for a holiday in Cornwall! Looking forward to returning again!
The owners made us so welcome and the scones, fresh cream & jam were lovely. Many interesting places to visit within easy striking range (distance). Gardens are lovely and well maintained...........plenty of places to sit in the sun. The Minach theatre is a must to visit and watch a show BUT take lots (as in LOTS) of warm clothing if it's a night-time show. It is a very cold wind coming off the ocean.
Quiet location and good base for exploring.
A home from home in a beautiful part of the country.
Excellent stay - accommodation very clean and functional - a good location to explore southern Cornwall.
Please tell that there are only donkeys and chickens, not more animals.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Orchard Barn, and were impressed with all of that this cottage had to offer. It provided everything that we needed for a restful and relaxing winter break, including stunning views over the countryside. The open plan layout was beautifully decorated, the wood burner provided a cosy setting, and all of the facilities and little touches helped to make it the perfect place for our trip to Cornwall.
A good property in an ideal location.
