The kitchen was the best equipped that we have stayed in. Comfy sofa & bed. Appreciated the simulated log fire as well as the central heating. The outside lobby area was great for keeping walking boots & coats. Liked watching the squirrels & robins in the garden. Made good use of the maps & local guidebooks provided. Friendly host
Mrs Holland December 2020
Well worth a visit.
Mr Williams October 2020
The cottage was nice and clean and tidy. The cottage had all the usual equipment which was spot on even the bed was nice and comfortable. Surroundings were brilliant for our jack Russell dog Murphy who likes a good wonder. The flowers and the jam and scones were a nice touch home made jam you can’t get that in a supper market .The owners were very friendly and obliging.Thank you to all concerned
Ms Patterson October 2020
A lovely spacious cottage, excellently equipped & in a great location to explore all parts of Cornwall. Definitely intend to return in the future.
Miss Gallagher August 2020
A delightful cottage in a beautiful location! A very comfortable and relaxing place to stay and use as a base to explore the area. We definitely intend to return in the future!
Mr McLean July 2020
Wonderful cottage in lovely location with great hosts. 11 out of 10 (the weather helped)
Mrs Grace July 2020
Delightful cottage and good location for exploring this beautiful part of Cornwall. One of the cleanest cottages we have stayed in with Unobtrusive owners who left a delicious cream tea on arrival. Quality kitchen equipment, everything you could possibly need for your stay. Lovely grounds and orchard which you are free to explore with walks from the door along to the creek and bridle ways. We would add that the garden although lovely is not dog proof. Our dog was a bit too nosy, sniffing out the BBQ’s of the campers/caravans also on site some of whom also had dogs. We had to have him on his lead the last couple of evenings so he didn’t wander. Apart from that a great holiday.
Mr King March 2020
Lovely peaceful location with walks from the door to be found in a folder on the book shelves. Kitchen area very well equipped comfy bed and a good shower. Good size garden area for dogs but not secure. Parking is right outside the property.
Mrs Stroud January 2020
Nothing further to add, except to heartily recommend Orchard Vean.
Mr Oliver January 2020
Great location
Mr Chapman November 2019
A truly outstanding cottage with most helpful and genial owners. Perfect property and location to explore the wonderful area. Highly recommended.
Mrs Hicks October 2019
Well equipped and very clean. Peaceful and quiet. Cosy and comfortable. Perfect escape.
Mrs Bradford September 2019
Lovely comfortable cottage in a lovely location. Nick and Barbara were most helpful and made us very welcome during our two week stay. A really nice well appointed cottage with everything spotlessly clean - even the wine glasses shone. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Mr Baxter September 2019
The weather was damp all week. But we did have a wonderful stay at orchard dean, exploring the many creek side walks and local pubs.
Mr King September 2019
We had high expectations of our stay at Orchard Vean and we were not disappointed. We received a very warm welcome from Nick and his introduction to the cottage included safety aspects such as the carbon monoxide alarms, fire alarms and extinguisher along with his invaluable knowledge of the local area including walks which can be done from the cottage. Barbara had left a delicious cream tea (which included home made jam) and the flowers made the cottage feel homely. There is everything in the cottage you would require for self catering and there is a good shower and the most comfy bed. The porch was larger than we expected and an ideal place to leave walking boots and dry off dogs if they are wet. Double patio doors lead out onto the outdoor seating area and cushions are provided for the chairs. The parking space is adjacent to the cottage for easy unloading. We are booking again for next year, thank you Nick and Barbara.
Mrs Davidson August 2019
loved this little place, and the surrounding area was great for exploring with our dogs. Already booked a return visit next year.
Mrs Bacon February 2019
This beautiful location in the heart of the Fal estuary is great for birdwatching and walking. The well equipped and tranquil cottage provided us a good winter regeneration. Probably busier at other times of the year as there's an adjoining caravan club site, but this is also small and peaceful so that wouldn't bother us.
Mr Slaiter December 2018
The Cottage is situated in a location near Truro with great access to the whole of Cornwall. The Cottage itself is set in a quiet and peaceful location with great walks near by. It was totally cosy with all the amenities we required in perfect working order. The hosts were delightful and welcomed us with a cream tea and bottle of fizz for New Year. A lovely welcoming touch. If you love walking and enjoy quiet evenings then this is the place to stay
Mr Hamilton December 2018
Best cooking utensils and bed we've ever had. Cottage was spotless, warm and comfortable. No complaints, just one safety concern. The cooker hood is at head height and has sharp metal corners. We bumped our heads a couple of times, sooner or later someone will get a nasty head wound

Lovely comfortable cottage, well situated to explore the creeks and hidden spots of The Carrick Roads. Easy access to A39 even though it is in a creek side location.

We cannot speak highly enough of Orchard Vean, it is perfect for a quiet, peaceful holiday. Situated in a lovely part of Cornwall, it is well located for visiting most areas of the county. From National Trust houses to small beautiful beaches, we found it ideal.
Mrs Caldwell December 2015
This a very nice property in a rural location although within a walking distance of the pub. This allowed easy access to Truro and some of the mining history of the area albeit by car, for the more adventurous it had a number of walks immediately available but due to the fact that we were there end December early January with a lot of rain we were not able to use them all.
Mrs Crawley October 2015
Very clean and well-equipped cottage
Mrs Gray October 2015
One of the nicest cottages I have stayed in. The owners were extremely helpful to me whilst my car was out of action. I would recommend it to my friends and family.
Ms Holt September 2015
We were so comfortable we felt like we were at home. Tranquil location to return to after the hustle and bustle of the more touristy spots. Welcoming touch to have fresh flowers from the garden and a delicious cream tea with homemade jam waiting for us on arrival.

Mr Griffiths September 2014
We had a lovely stay, even with it being overcast most of the week. The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and well located. The Minnack Theatre was an easy day out with Truro, Falmouth and the north coast all quickly reached. The owner was friendly and helpful and the cream tea (with home made jam) was much appreciated! The maps in the cottage were useful for working out where we had walked around Penpol/Point and for days out.
Oh, and if you're wondering - Vean is Cornish for small!
Mrs Grace August 2014
A delightful, well-equipped cottage with wonderful walks with outstanding views of the creek and surrounding area. The location of the cottage makes this an absolute ideal base to explore the Lizard Peninsula to as far as the Scilly Isles. Alternatively if you want to relax and kick-back this cottage offers a holiday location that the weather can not spoil.
Mrs Roberts June 2014

The accomodation at Orchard Vean was excellent - we had a wonderful four week rest and would recomend the cottage highly. We are going back again next autumn.

The property was exactly as described. The conversion from the original building has been done to an extremely high standard with top of the range fittings and decoration superb. The location was perfect. Close to major towns of Falmouth and Truro and the south and north Cornwall coasts. There are good walks from the cottage and excellent pubs and restaurants to suit every style and budget within easy reach. We were made to feel very welcome - the scones, jam and cream as well as flowers in the cottage were a great touch. Even the weather was good! Thanks for a great week
Mr Macarthur August 2013
it was a lovely place with great accomodation and welcome people
Mrs Dyehouse July 2013
A beautiful location in a wooded valley. Stunning coastal and river walks. Food at Instow 'The Boathouse' was gorgeous and a stunning evening location. Falmouth had wonderful restaurants and Harbour View and Rick Stein were well worth the money. Lovely shopping in Falmouth great harbour. Busy in Truro but worth the visit. We ate at local pubs and though they were ok would not necessarily go again they were convenient. Trelissick Gardens well worth the visit but go early or else meet the crowds. A great cottage everything you could want is there even shower gel, a barbecue, washing materials etc etc but we didnt find an apple corer!!!! Thanks for a great holiday. Pity our camera was stolen when we got home not a photo of our lovely stay.

Mrs Baulsom July 2013
This HAS to be the best equipped self catering cottage in the West Country!! We want to tell EVERYONE to try it...............and then, we want to keep it to ourselves because if we can't book it again next year, due to popular demand, then we're going to be disappointed! So, please, just don't book EVERY week there, as we are definitely going again next year!!!! Our dogs LOVED it, but you might want to consider fencing off the part where they can escape, thus preventing me (mouth almighty!!!) screaming for them to get back & disturbing other caravan residents...............HUGE apologies! Bit of a dead spot for mobile/laptop reception, but, is that really such a bad thing? There actually WAS life before mobile phones!!!!!!!!!!! Hands up who remembers that!!!
Mr Hollamby March 2013
Very nice quiet location offering excellent accommodation. A good base to tour from or a nice place to just chill out!
Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed in this cottage, with the few exceptions stated in our Review Guidelines.
