Picture yourself on holiday with a glass of bubbly in hand, surrounded by nothing but fields and countryside, under the spectacle of Exmoor National Park International Dark Sky Reserve. If this sounds like it would appeal to you then look no further than Frogwell Cottage. Situated less than two miles from the peaceful village of Skilgate, this 19th Century cottage is a rural retreat.

Recently refurbished, this cottage offers plenty of room for all the family (including your four-legged friends) with the ground floor comprising a spacious kitchen, separate dining-room and cosy sitting-room. On those chillier nights, light up the wood-burner and enjoy evenings together watching the flames flicker.

Upstairs there are three delightful bedrooms; peaceful spaces in which to rest your head after a day of adventures. Each room has uninterrupted views over the garden or countryside and with nothing to disturb you but the sound of wildlife, you are sure to have the best sleep. The family bathroom completes the accommodation and there are even countryside views from the bath - bliss.

As well as a large patio area to the front, there is a sweet spot behind the cottage which is a perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine. You may also see the resident donkey, although please do not feed him. Dogs and children alike will delight in exploring the large garden area that has been fully fenced.

Dulverton, coined as the southern gateway to Exmoor, is a short drive away and has an excellent range of independent shops, cafes and pubs. Bampton is also nearby and has a traditional butcher, baker and greengrocer, as well as some really excellent restaurants.

You'll be sure to lose yourself in the wild beauty of Exmoor, with so many walking and cycling routes to discover. It really is the perfect place to get away from it all and savour the peace and quiet. Tucked away within the National Park there are an abundance of pretty villages where it feels as though time has stood still. Seek out the traditional pubs for hearty meals in front of the fire during the winter months, or visit picturesque picnic spots (our favourites are Withypool, Landacre and Tarr Steps) on summer days. A short drive away is Wimbleball Lake which is a beautiful landmark well worth exploring - you can even try your hand at watersports if you're feeling adventurous.
