This is the forth time we have stayed at Horseshoe Cottage. The area is just perfect for dogs and kids. The gardens and grounds are beautifully maintained and it is such a luxury to be able to walk down to the sea within 3 minutes of closing your front door. We spent far too much money on the local ice-cream but it is soooo delicious we had to taste a different flavour every day. The House was only operating guided tour visits which we weren't sure about since we had been before, but we learnt so much and it was very enjoyable and interesting. All the staff we met were lovely. We'll definitely be going back again.

We chose this cottage because of its position right by the Tamar. Its ancient walls kept us cool in the very hot weather. There is plenty to do both in the park and in the immediate vicinity with ferry trips to William Yard for a smart night out. We kept fit and ate well all week.

The cottage was a bit bigger than it appeared on the photographs, which was nice. It was perfectly clean when we arrived. It was a superb location and very quiet, which we appreciated. Also lovely and cool on hot days as stone but I imagine gets pretty cold in winter. Sofas were big and comfy. We liked having big bath towels. Loved having the boot room area downstairs. It's such a great location, it was wonderful being able to walk out into the park anytime and stroll, sit under the trees, go down to the beach, up to the folly. We would have done more walks if it hadn't been so hot. The little book of history about Mount Edgcumbe and the walks was really good. The Farriers was excellent food, and we used their tables for dinner. On that - would be good to have some outside chairs in the cottage, a couple of deckchairs would be perfect.

Great position and support staff, one or two items need addressing to give five stars.

We are so glad to read that you enjoyed the position, it is in a lovely spot! If you ever do find that anything needs addressing we would so love the opportunity to put it right for you at the time - we hope that you had a lovely time overall. Sarah, Customer Support

Stayed at Horseshoe Cottage for a week, great location. Parking space right outside. Cottage is a good size although maybe a bit small for 4 adults. Plenty of walks around the County Park. Walk on Ferry to Royal William Yard and The Barbican, certainly a lot quicker to reach by ferry than drive.

Superb cottage: location, facilities, price and ease of booking

This cottage was perfect for us it was lovely and comfortable, very spacious and very well equipped. We would definitely recommend.

Fantastic location for our dog! Step out of your door into acres of land and wonderful walks from your doorstep to Cawsands and Kingsands.

If you could perhaps advise future customers that torches are imperative as the surroundings are pitch black for late night walking back from the pub through the park especially if you have a dog!

A charming, spacious and well furnished cottage. Really useful boot room which was great for muddy shoes and dog.

Super place to stay

Stunning location, off the beaten track but wonderful for cornish walks or day trips to plymouth. Clean and comfortable cottage.

We are just back from a week at Horseshoe Cottage. What a glorious location! We spent lots of time paddle boarding at the little beach within the park, watching the boats coming and going and exploring the site. The cottage is comfortable and homely. It has a new kitchen - not reflected in the pic on the website, (with a new oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and all the pots, pans etc you need). There are squishy sofas, the leather one can be a challenge to get out of! The staff are fabulous. My mum isn’t that mobile and they gave us a pass to park the car by the beach and they were always up for a chat. You can walk through the french doors in the bedroom and straight across the courtyard to the cafe. I wanted to stay - permanently!

Excellent location

A very comfortable cottage in a truly spectacular setting with friendly staff, great facilities (cafes, pub, shops) and wonderful walks from the doorstep. Highly recommend.

Spectacular surroundings

The location of the cottage is good with lots of lovely walks round the country park and along the coastal path. It’s also handy for the ferry crossing to Plymouth. The cottage needs updating and definitely new beds which were extremely uncomfortable- particularly in the twin room. The furniture also needs updating. The kitchen utensils, table mats and other equipment also need updating. This was not up to the usual standard of classic cottages. The layout of the cottage is quirky and is bright and airy. With a little investment in updating the facilities I would be happy to recommend this cottage to others.

An Amazing break, loved the cottage and the quiet location... definitely coming back.

A comfortable, spacious and well equipped cottage in a pretty and peaceful location

We had a thoroughly lovely stay at Horseshoe Cottage on the Mount Edgcumbe Estate. Staying in the summer of 2020 and just after the Covid-19 lockdown was eased, we came through Classic Cottages as we trusted their properties to be thoroughly cleaned and at a standard we would keep our own home. We were not disappointed. The cottage is very well equipped with comfortable beds and sofas you can sink into after a day exploring the South Cornwall coastline. We look forward to coming back! Thank you Classic and Mount Edgcumbe Estate

Location can’t be beat if travelling with dog! Out the door straight into acres of parkland.

A very comfortable stay in a superb location for walks, views and general local interest. Our favourite day has to be taking a stunning 90minute ride on the top deck of the no 70 bus that went via the coast road and the Torpoint ferry to Plymouth centre. A short walk took us to the harbour area where we had lunch then came home via the Royal William and Mt Edgcumbe ferry..... (and yes, the bus took bus passes! )

Mattresses on all three beds were worn out and unsatisfactory. No bathroom mirror lights. Hob extractor fan and lighting did not work. Electric oven dated and needs replacing. Only one chopping board that is heat damaged on one side. Microwave oven is dated - cannot set the time accurately and is low power 700W. Very slow WiFi - cannot even watch BBC iPlayer.

It's a lovely property but the owners need to be more proactive in checking everything works before tenants check-in.

We're so sorry to hear you had some problems at the cottage; this isn't what we'd expect at all. We'll be following up with the housekeeper about the inventory items and with the owner about your suggested upgrades. The WiFi is a standard package for browsing the web and emails etc, but may not always be fast enough for streaming. Thanks so much for making us aware. Tressa, Customer Support

Just needs updating

Thanks for sharing your lovely review, we're delighted you had a good stay at Mount Edgcumbe. Did you get the chance to try the Orangery garden cafe too, down by the Cremyll Ferry? We're told they do a great Sunday roast....Tanya, Customer Support

Lovely character cottage in a beautiful area of Cornwall. We'll be sure to return.

Had a fantastic time at the cottage it was warm the staff were very helpful and friendly on site. Fantastic access to the grounds and the dog thought it was amazing to be out of the door an into the walk immediately. Food at the stables and orangery was lovely too so if we didnt want to cook it was easy - definitely would go again

A lovely cottage, very peaceful location away from the busier tourist areas of Cornwall. Lots of places to explore and perfect if you have your canine companion with you! Quite magical in the evening after the park has closed.

Fabulous holiday property. In its own grounds within a great setting. Wow would love to own it.

Great place to stay any time of the year.

Lovely cottage, beautiful location and very helpful ground staff.

Would love to stay in this cottage again

A very cosy cottage in a wonderful location, perfect if you have a canine companion.

Horseshoe cottage is a beautiful, well equipped holiday home in a stunning estate, which overall offered everything we needed for a relaxing holiday.

If you have kids or a dog then Horseshoe Cottage at Mount Edgecombe Country Park is an ideal holiday. We didn't have to leave the park all week, spending our days exploring, walking, paddling in the sea and riding our bikes. Beautiful location, friendly people - we didn't want to go home.

A delightful cottage in a lovely location with activities nearby to suit all the family - walks, gardens, sea views, two lovely cafe's, arts and crafts plust disc golf, cycling.

Absolutely lovely - I could have stayed forever!

Stunning and very Beautiful. The park is magical at night!!

We had a most enjoyable stay at the cottage for our son's wedding. The position and layout enabled us to take an elderly grandparent in a wheelchair to the wedding who was determined not to miss the occasion.

This lovely little cottage is a little gem. It's spacious and very comfortable and where it is situated in the park is fantastic. We parked the car when we arrived and didn't use it again until we left. Mount Edgcumbe is a wonderful place with beautiful views, gardens, walks, coastline and also Mount Edgcumbe House. It is very dog friendly and our dog thoroughly enjoyed his holiday too. The people we met who worked on the estate were very friendly and helpful. The booking via the website was easy and the contact from Classic Cottages was brilliant, quick & effiecient and full of helpful information. We would definitely use Classic Cottages again and hope to return to this wonderful place in the future.

Amazing location and park with lots to see and do and very dog friendly.

Horseshoe cottage is the perfect place to go de-stress. The peace and tranquility are second to none. An ideal property for energetic dogs, lots of varied and inspiring walks. Friendly staff who always have time for a chat and offer advice. A place we will return to when possible

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. So relaxing to walk the gardens and enjoy the views. Plenty to see and do without even getting in your car. The disc golf course is an amazing way to enjoy the property and get a pro game on!

You can't stay at Horseshoe Cottage without falling in love with the beauty and history of Mt Edgcumbe Country Park. It's a complete break from the push and shove of everyday life. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and a lovely base to explore this quiet corner of Cornwall. The views, walks, wildlife and formal gardens are wonderful and we found all the estate staff and volunteers very friendly and informative. The 'rebuilt' House is a great visit and unlike some 'stuffy' old stately homes provides for younger guests really well. There aren't too many big shops locally but this all adds to the charm and an online supermarket order done before we arrived sorted out our grocery needs for the week. We enjoyed trips to Looe for a good family beach, the Cremyll foot ferry to Plymouth and the Eden Project but actually quality time spent simply on Mt Edgcumbe was our favourite thing. We'd go again in a heartbeat!

Excellent cottage. Quite spacious and well decorated. The ground of the park are lovely and a great place to take a dog.

Absolutely beautiful property in wonderful location. All the Country Park staff we met were very welcoming too.

We had a wonderful time, thank you.

Fabulous location. Comfortable, charming cottage. Lovely place for a long weekend.
