This truly impressive former 18th Century chapel set in eight acres of grounds, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and valley, really does offer a very special welcome to all its guests. Don't forget to mark your arrival with a ring of the chapel bell! Tucked away in the heart of the Tamar valley yet perfectly positioned on the border of Devon and Cornwall not only do you have the ideal location but a true escape to the country in a beautifully converted and restored chapel that will see you return year after year!
As you pull into the private driveway through the gates your eyes will light up with delight as Thimble Hall is simply a delight on the eye! Step over the threshold at ground floor level and you are instantly wowed by not only the craftmanship but the beautiful interiors that will instantly make you feel at home and a property that offers the warmest of welcomes. From original features that have been beautifully and seamlessly adapted to offer the best of 21st Century living to all the home comforts that will deliver the perfect holiday home.
On the ground floor you will enjoy the heart of the chapel, the sociable open plan kitchen, which has been beautifully crafted and offers the perfect set up to rustle up a banquet for the family which can be enjoyed around the grand dining-table whilst the wood-burner crackles away. There is also a downstairs utility and WC which sits opposite the doors that lead out on to the garden and sitting area. The chapel has been converted to take in the surroundings with the windows allowing light to flood into each room with wonderful ever-changing pictures of the countryside. The grand granite spiral staircase leads you up to the first floor and yet another 'wow' moment, the sitting-room offers oodles of space, vaulted ceilings, impressive arched stained glass windows and the perfectly positioned collection of comfy sofas for the family to snuggle down, dim the lights and enjoy a family film night on the Smart TV. The breakout study/snug area also offers another wood-burner and the perfect little perching spot around the table to indulge in a puzzle! Just down the landing you will discover the first of two bedrooms both offering sumptuous beds and crisp white linens, one being a king-size room with a Smart TV and the second a handy 'zip and link' room. Between the rooms you have a shower-room that would not look out of place in a hotel, again when it comes to attention to detail and craftmanship no room has been overlooked!
Head up the stairs to the second floor passing windows that offer beautiful glimpses of the valley and you will find a further two bedrooms; the first being a bunk bedroom, ideal for the younger members of the family, next to the main en suite bedroom that yet again delivers another 'wow' moment thanks to the perfectly positioned picture window that looks down on the sitting-area and allows a gorgeous view from the bed each morning as you indulge in that first cup of tea of the day from the regal four-poster bed that gives you a sense of royalty with a view that will stay with you until you return the following year. The en suite shower-room yet again delivers on style with not only twin sinks but a twin waterfall shower - sheer bliss!! This floor also benefits from a family bathroom boosting a roll-top bath to soak away and recharge after a day of family fun.
Thimble Hall also has a wonderful al fresco set-up with a rear patio and that all-important barbecue framed by a large lawned area for the children to play care-free as the sun sets on a glorious day at Thimble Hall. For those days when you want to kick back then you also have the brilliant games-room that is in the converted garage for hours of family-friendly competitive fun!
There is an electric vehicle charging point for use during your stay. Don't forget your charging cable for the Rolec 32A, universal port.
Ideally located for exploring both Cornwall and Devon you will never struggle to plan a day out. Perhaps a visit to the Eden Project, with its fascinating biomes, or The Lost Gardens of Heligan where you can spend the day wandering the estate. Cotehele, the National Trust manor house, gardens and quay is not far away and should be on your 'to do' list. The beautiful Cornish coast is only a short drive away where you can enjoy coastal walks and seaside villages, or perhaps a visit to Dartmoor to see the rugged landscape and ponies. Whilst in the area, a planned day out must be a visit to Tavistock which is a traditional market town with a weekly market and a collection of high street and independent boutique shops; an ideal way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.
