Second in a row of pretty terraced cottages, this stylish property has been newly renovated to a very high standard. Gamekeeper's Cottage is one of four at Dominey's Yard, nestled into two and a half beautiful acres of grounds and gardens. Plush furnishings and thoughtful touches make this cottage a fabulous base for your Dorset holiday.

On the ground floor the sitting-room is a fantastic sociable space where the family can relax and enjoy holiday feasts or board game evenings whilst listening to the comforting crackles of the wood-burner. The modern kitchen opens out to your own private patio where you can sit and while the world away under the starry summer skies.

When the night draws in, head upstairs to the sumptuous bedrooms where you will be enveloped in crisp, cosy bedding. Between the two bedrooms is the swish shower-room with a luxurious walk-in shower.

The owners live adjacent to the cottage and whilst they are very welcoming and on hand to help, you are assured of the utmost privacy.

The grounds at Dominey's Yard are fabulous and guests are very welcome to explore the 2.5 acres of gardens where we are sure a game of hide-and-seek has to be on the agenda! A hearty vegetable patch offers guests the chance to purchase excellent produce from the owners; the farm to fork journey is almost non-existent which is sure to make your family meals that bit more special. In the wonderful grounds there is also a fantastic play area, complete with garden games. Children will love the play equipment and for adults it is a lovely spot to sit in and catch the evening sun or test out your competitive side with a game of giant Jenga or Quoits!

Once you have finished exploring the gardens, head to the outdoor heated swimming pool (open May to September and shared with three other cottages) where you are sure to make many happy holiday memories.

For larger family groups or celebrations (accommodating up to 18 guests), Dominey's Yard offers the perfect escape where everyone can have their own space. Other cottages available are Poacher's Cottage (4522), Woodcutter's Cottage (4524) and Gardener's Cottage (4525)

Buckland Newton is home to the Gaggle of Geese, a friendly local pub known for serving great food and only a short stroll from the cottage. The Old Chapel village store is perfect for stocking up on locally-sourced produce. Further afield is the county town of Dorchester that still has a weekly market and is rich with Thomas Hardy history. Just five miles away from Gamekeeper's Cottage is the infamous Cerne Abbas Giant, an ancient figure sculpted in to the hillside. For a spot of retail therapy head to the historic town of Sherborne where there are many independent boutique shops waiting to be explored.

A holiday to Dorset is of course not complete without a trip to the Jurassic Coast and within 45 minutes you will be met by the coastal beauty of this county. The seaside town of Weymouth, with its award-winning beach and mix of attractions is well worth a visit.
