The Lookout
93Coverack / Sleeps 4 + cot*
7 Nights from £464
Situated just above Chynhalls Point on the headland above the picturesque village of Coverack and set in a former grand hotel, this recently refurbished top floor apartment offers the perfect vantage point from which to lose yourself whilst gazing out over the dramatic Cornish coastline and absorbing the ever-changing moods and colours of the sea.
With both bedrooms overlooking acres of open heath and National Trust land, your morning wake-up call will be harmonious birdsong and the sweet sounds of the countryside. If you can tear yourselves away from the hypnotic sea views from the living-room, step outside and explore the delights of the extensive lawns, perhaps settling yourself down in one of the secluded sitting-out areas to while away a moment or two with a good book. If you’re feeling in the mood for burning off a bit of energy, indulge in a set or two of tennis on the all-weather tennis court. There is even a small beach, which is sandy at low tide, an ideal spot to look out for a grey seal or two which may be basking on the rocks nearby.
Much of the The Lizard peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a naturalist’s and ornithologist’s paradise with many species of birds both resident and migratory to spot. Bring along the binoculars and you may just be rewarded with a glimpse of one of Britain’s rarest breeding birds, the Cornish chough, which have been successfully reintroduced to the area after a long period of absence.
This area of the headland offers idyllic isolation yet the traditional fishing village of Coverack with its vibrant harbour, pretty, white-washed cottages, pub and restaurants is but a short downhill stroll.
