Located in the pretty village of Georgeham, just over a mile from one of the longest sandy surfing beaches on the north Devon coast, this 17th Century cottage comes complete with thatched roof, beams, inglenook fireplace and some of the quirks you would expect from an old property, including low doorways and a steep staircase.
Beautifully restored with wonderful character features, semi-detached Kentisbury Cottage is a charming holiday home-from-home. The sitting/dining-room with a wood-burner at its heart makes it ideal all year round.
Woolacombe and Putsborough are the nearest fabulous sandy beaches and it is a five minute walk to the two village pubs and local shop.
This cottage has been very sympathetically renovated and so alongside the contemporary feel of the interior expect some original features including low beams and doorways, very steep wooden cottage stairs, which may not be suitable for less mobile guests, and lovely low window sills in the bedrooms.
The kitchen is small but has all that you need with a Smeg fridge/freezer very cleverly fitting into the original larder and a back door to the parking-area and the laundry-room with the washing machine. Upstairs there are three bedrooms with painted wooden floorboards and a delightful bathroom with a three-quarter sized bath to make the most of the space (please be aware of a steep step into the bathroom and a further low doorway).
The overall feel of the cottage is light and welcoming, and the convenient edge of village setting means that there is just a short walk to the two popular village pubs, both serving excellent food, and the village shop.

Kentisbury Cottage has an enclosed garden with a wooden fence on one side and a bank and hedging to the other. The garden seating and barbecue are at the bottom end of the garden.
The open plan sitting-room overlooks the lovely enclosed garden.
The master bedroom, as with the other bedrooms, has painted floorboards and original cottage doors.
A well-designed kitchen makes the most of the space with a walk-in larder at the far end.
Kentisbury Cottage is tucked down a private lane on the edge of the village. The shop and one of the two pubs are a perfect five minute stroll away.
This is a beautifully renovated, very old cottage - there are therefore quite a few internal steps to different areas, steep stairs and some low beams - all adding character but do take care.
There is a stable-door to the back of the cottage where you can park your car.
This is Woolacombe Beach. It adjoins Putsborough Beach and this wonderful stretch of sand is the closest to the cottage.
Another view of the master bedroom which has a side window across the lane and the fields, and a front window looking over the garden.
This bedroom also has a double bed and overlooks the garden.
This is the twin bedroom. Please take care of the step outside the bedroom door, to the inset landing at the top of the stairs.
Another view of the twin bedroom.
The bathroom is really pretty - a three-quarter sized bath fits perfectly and you have the flexibility of a shower too (there is also a downstairs WC).
Coming in through the garden-room, the hall is as prettily presented as the rest of the house.
The garden-room enjoys a view over the south-facing garden and is a lovely peaceful place to sit with a coffee before starting the day.
Yes another amazing beach - this is Saunton Sands.
A very short drive along the coast is the renowned surfing beach at Croyde Bay.
