DoubleAlice's Cottage is no normal cottage and is set to impress from the moment you push open the double gate to your private secluded holiday home, enclosed garden and paddock. The cottage has undergone an extensive conversion and refurbishment over the last few years. The owner has created a cottage that offers luxury, comfort and relaxation; no detail has been overlooked with the same level of attention and detail given to each and every room, from high end interiors and furnishings to those extra touches that take the cottage in to a league of its own and one that will see you want to return each and every year. In short, the cottage married together with the delights of north Devon offers the best of self-catering holidays.
Alice's Cottage offers the perfect sociable holiday home with an open plan living space centrally positioned allowing the bedrooms to sit either side of the barn, separated by hall doors creating quiet bedroom areas. The main bedroom enjoys an en suite shower-room with the other two bedrooms benefitting from bath/shower rooms situated just outside the bedroom doors. The joy of the bathrooms has to be the toiletries and under-floor heating which is always a treat for the feet especially on those crisp mornings.
The garden and outdoor area is the perfect extension to the cottage, with large patio doors opening out on to a wonderfully positioned patio. From dining to relaxing whilst the children and hound play on the lawn you really can kick back and let the holiday vibes wash over you. At night light the barbecue, stoke the fire-pit and stargaze for hours whilst enjoying a bottle of wine.
Owing to the location of the cottage the paddock and stables are available should you wish to travel with your horse to take advantage of the location. Please do let us know if you would like to add this to your booking for an extra fee.
The local village of Chittlehampton is a welcoming rural village offering a community shop, Post Office and a lovely local pub (highly recommended) where you will receive a warm welcome for all the family including the hound.
The nearest market town is South Molton with its twice weekly (Thursdays and Saturdays) pannier market and quirky independent shops, and offers a lovely afternoon option for some retail therapy; for larger shops Barnstaple is a short drive away.
For a highly recommended blast of sea air, the nearest beach on the north Devon coast is just over half an hour away - miles of golden sand at Instow. Across the estuary, you can use the little seasonal passenger ferry, is the historic fishing village of Appledore.
If walking is your thing, Exmoor National Park is just half an hour away by car and dramatic Dartmoor can be easily reached too (around an hour's drive). Or why not cycle the Tarka Trail from Braunton to Meeth near Hatherleigh.
North Devon offers an activity for everyone, no matter what the season.
