The Captain’s House

1711 is no longer with us

If you were looking for cottages like The Captain’s House, how about trying these:

One can imagine a sea captain of old scanning the horizon from this four-storey Victorian town house for sight of his ships. Even today, some kind of maritime activity will catch your eye as you take in the views from upstairs. Set up above the village road and a short walk from Downderry beach, this terraced house (the property with the dormer window) has been restored, retaining many period details. The sitting-room and three of the bedrooms look out to sea, and a snug offers extra space. The top bunk in the bunk bedroom is unsuitable for children under six. The kitchen leads into a dining-room, which opens onto a small terrace where sunset barbecues can be enjoyed (there is only a shared yard to the rear) and WiFi is available. With numerous beaches and coastal footpaths accessible, Looe nearby, ferries from Kingsand to Plymouth, and the Eden Project to the west, you will want to stay forever!
