We have just returned from a wonderful week’s stay at Carricknath after a very last minute booking. We were a little concerned about how it would be, given that it was still available at this late stage. We needn’t have worried! The bungalow is very spacious, with unrivalled views out over St Mawes and the sea from almost every window. The pictures online really don’t do the location justice. It is a short walk down into St Mawes which is a stunning little village but oh my goodness the walk back is incredibly steep! Well worth doing each day though to take in the atmosphere of this lovely place. We enjoyed eating at the Rising Sun, the cinnamon buns from the De Bara bakery and harbour side drinks at the St Mawes Hotel. Mr Scorse Gourmet Deli does the BEST baguettes, which we bought and took for a picnic when we visited the castle. The Falmouth ferry runs daily from the harbour and is a lovely little trip out on the water. Our only little grumbles were that the seating in the lounge area was not as comfortable as it could be. As a family we would have enjoyed snuggling up on a comfy sofa or armchair to watch TV but the chairs provided did not allow for this. The sofa seats 2 and is very upright and the armchairs are not the type to relax in. Also, the garden hedge was a little overgrown which inhibited the view out to sea from the patio area. The shower in the main bathroom is missing a door which caused flooding on the floor when it was used. These are only small things and didn’t affect the enjoyment of our stay at all. Carricknath is a great, very well maintained property and we would definitely stay here again. ...

We had a nice two weeks at Carricknath and here is an honest review: The view from the property is incredible and it made us feel on holiday every day. We were lucky enough to be there during the tall ships and it was amazing to watch them leave Falmouth. We also absolutely love St Mawes and the surrounding area and you cannot go wrong - there is lots to do and lovely beaches. There’s great places to eat and drink. We loved the hidden hut for lunch and Towan beach was beautiful. It is a short incredibly steep walk to St Mawes from the property. I would really emphasise the steep walk - be aware if you are a multigenerational group. It was a real challenge for the fit and healthy grandparents in our group. Everything is clean, functional and adequate but there are definitely no extra special touches. We had a issue with one of the showers which didn’t work and Classic Cottages were very friendly and sorted the issue promptly which was great. We have no complaint about the service - the housekeeper in particularly was so friendly and lovely. The basic charcoal BBQ hadn’t been cleaned (and looked on its last legs) and there were no BBQ tools so we had to rethink any plans of having a BBQ. We mentioned this and classic cottages did drop off disposable BBQs and a pair of tongs which were most welcome but it meant we had to really think about when we had a BBQ and couldn’t just be spontaneous and have one every evening if weather was good which was a shame. Good things - the beds are comfortable, the property is really private and not overlooked and the utility room is a good size. But we had very mixed weather and it was hard to dry even our bath towels - one of the heated towel rails in the bathroom worked sporadically and we had no control over when the towel rails came on so we had one rail for six people so it was damp towels all round. And in terms of drying swimming stuff it was very difficult. Things to note: - the showers are both electric so don’t expect a power shower - there is plenty of hot water though. - you have to rinse any sand off outside the property so sandy children aren’t ideal. The electric shower would definitely not get the sand off them anyway - the kitchen provision is basic. There was no vegetable peeler (although the owner did promptly drop one off once we’d mentioned this) - there’s no coffee machine (this seems an oversight in a holiday property these days) - there’s no option to plug an electric toothbrush or shaver in the bathroom - there’s one very random board game (ninja cats) and 3 adult puzzles, no cards or any other games - there’s only a 2 slice toaster - quite annoying for 6 people. The top of the driveway has been blocked off and although it has been explained in the property instructions - it seemed absolutely ludicrous as the driveway is exceptionally small and steep and it would have been far more comfortable for two cars wit...

We had a wonderful stay at Carricknath in June 2022 after two times of cancellation because of covid-19 restrictions. Classic Cottages is always helpful and responsive in dealing with changes and finally our dream came true. Carricknath is a very nice and well-equipped house in the Roseland Peninsula. There are many different things to do in such small territory: small and pretty villages nearby to discover (Portscatho, Porloe, Veyran), nice and easily accessible beach (Porthcurnick) with the excellent beach café 'The Hidden Hut', Trelissick Garden, or many different options of walk along the coast to admire stunning cliffs. After a day of outdoor activities, we came back to Carricknath to enjoy the cosy and relaxing atmosphere of the house. We extend our thanks and appreciation to both Classic Cottages and the owner of Carricknath for their responsibility and great services....

This property is in a beautiful location with stunning views. Inside it is comfortable, freshly decorated and well equipped. The lounge seating is arranged to help maximise enjoyment of the views - we loved sitting at the window seat to read. We were able to do several walks from the property without needing to use the car: for example, we enjoyed walking to the church and tea shop at St Just in Roseland. ...
