Nestled in the Dizzard Valley on the north Cornish coast this age-old farmhouse oozes character and charm offering an idyllic coastal retreat away from the hustle and bustle of normal life!

Take a drive down into the hidden valley following an unmade farm track for 150 yards - (please do be aware that this is not suitable for low slung cars or sports cars.) to discover The Mill Farm, completely hidden from view and offering guests total privacy. This old farmhouse has well and truly settled into its rather special setting surrounded by rolling hills and yet a short stroll to the beach - you really have found a rather special holiday abode in a forgotten location.

Being an old farmhouse, the house has stood the test of time for hundreds of years yet retains all the character and charm you would expect. Two wood-burners, flagstone floors and cobble paths all marry beautifully together thanks to a modern Shaker-style kitchen and fabulous extension to the rear, which includes a shower-room on the ground floor and not one but two bathrooms on the first floor. The house has many different levels, the walls and ceilings are not straight but this all adds to the charm - something that the current owners have enjoyed for over 60 years! There is no doubt that you will not only enjoy your stay, but you will return year after year!

On the ground floor you will find a Shaker-style kitchen that sits central to the house. The cosy sitting-rooms offers the perfect backdrop for snuggling down, lighting the fire and enjoying a family film night, however the heart of the house has to be the dining-room with yet another wood-burner set in a inglenook fire place and complemented by the vintage furniture and a gorgeous window seat! If you need to retreat, there is a second sitting-room, the perfect reading spot whilst enjoying that all-important morning brew.

Head upstairs via one of the two staircases. Owing to the extension there are steps up and down into all of the bedrooms and bathrooms! All of the five bedrooms offer beautiful rural views out across the front garden, the perfect view after a restful night's sleep wrapped up in crisp linens and cosy beds. Please note that bedroom three interlinks to bedroom four offering the perfect family set up for young members should this be required, although bedroom four can also be accessed via the second staircase. The Mill Farm is an old house and when built, the population was a lot shorter! The ceilings, particularly in some of the bedrooms, are quite low and there are also some low beams and door lintels….remember to duck!

Open one of the two front doors and head out to the country garden. Sheltered from the coastal winds the garden is a summer haven with a small stream - please supervise your young explorers here. You can even explore the two fields either side of the entrance track. For a quiet moment to the rear of the house you will find a perfect perch offering a picturesque view that will offer a moment of reflection surrounded by nature.

If you're looking for a ye olde farmhouse then look no further. The Mill Farm will captivate you but remember those wellies for the track should the rain fall in August!

If you can bear to tear yourself away from your breathtaking surroundings and your local beach there are lots of options. The seaside town of Bude is just a short car ride away. Voted best UK coastal town for three consecutive years, this is a great place for shopping in independent boutique shops and dining in one of many cafes, restaurants and inns. Bude is also renowned as the surfing mecca of the north coast and water sports enthusiasts will love the vast sandy beaches and Atlantic rollers.

Walkers should head for the miles of dramatic coast path where secret coves, sandy beaches and exhilarating landscapes are waiting to be discovered. Both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks are within striking distance of The Mill Farm, with vast moorlands and stunning views, both are great for a day of exploring either on foot or by bike and watch out for the ponies! The gorgeous seaside villages of Boscastle, Crackington Haven and Hartland are a short journey away and these are lovely places for a traditional day on the coast.

However you plan to spend your getaway, The Mill Farm is the perfect Cornish retreat.

The WiFi router can be found in the sitting-room, however, the signal does not always penetrate through the thick stone walls to all the rooms in the house. *Only 1 cot is provided, bring your own travel cot.
