Revel in the sanctuary of this exquisite and very special homestay, as you create cherished memories together. Enjoy a morning dip in the pool, or a few sets of tennis before all indulging in a Full English around the kitchen table. Cast your line in the River Fowey (seasonal) whilst younger members play games on the lawn or hide-and-seek around the Manor - so much better than the digital alternatives. Discover beautiful picnic spots along the country paths that lead direct from the Estate or dine in the finest of style in the resplendent dining-room with great food, wine and most importantly the company. Soak up the sunshine from the sunny terrace or retire to one of the sitting-rooms and immerse yourself in a good book, play a game of charades or family board game.
Behind the grand exterior are warm and welcoming interiors, impeccably styled to offer the most comfortable of stays whilst retaining the overall character of the house and its historic features. The House encompasses three wings, all connected so there is plenty of room for everyone to be together along with ample options to find some quiet space away from the crowd. The central kitchen/breakfast-room is sure to be the heart of your holiday home but with two other kitchen/dining-rooms, it's the perfect excuse to serve up a safari supper, ending in style in the formal dining-room. The three sitting-rooms each have a wood-burner or open fire, a welcome sight on those out-of-season breaks and there's plenty of extra room with utility areas and a larder to store all your holiday gear. The gorgeous central staircase leads up to the nine bedrooms, each individually styled with luxury and comfort in mind, four having en suite facilities and three extra bath or shower rooms, so there will be no waiting for everyone to get ready in the morning.
Perfectly placed, there are extensive woodland and countryside walks to discover right from your front door. You can conquer the magical remains of the 13th Century Restormel Castle that stands on a mound overlooking the Estate or head up to the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery which offers up a great selection of plants, gifts and not to mention food and drink. It's such a treat, it's sure to become a daily visit!
You can walk along the lane to the pretty little town of Lostwithiel, badged the 'antiques capital of Cornwall' with its collection of antiques and interior shops, along with cafes, restaurants and pubs and the trendy sailing town of Fowey is just a short drive away. Known for its beautiful old streets full of independent shops, galleries and great eateries, it's a fabulous place to spend the day.
If you fancy a day at the seaside, you can join the wild swimmers at Menabilly and try water sports at Polkerris but if you would prefer to simply laze away on the beach this stretch of coastline is littered with a choice of great beaches you could try a different one every day!
Discover the old harbour town of Charlestown with its famous tall ships as well as the National Trust house and gardens at Lanhydrock. For garden lovers, the mighty biomes of Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a must and if you fancy getting active you can always go kayaking on the River Fowey or enjoy the scenic cycling trails at Cardinham woods.
