Sitting in an elevated position and enjoying the most captivating sea views, this lovely whitewashed house with a blue door, is a welcoming holiday retreat. Morvoren, Cornish for Mermaid, sits on the end of the terrace and due to this location, blue water and sky views don't get much better than this. Guests have the choice of two outside areas for relaxing, to the front with the most gorgeous of flower beds, brimming with an abundance of colour during the season, the terrace is the perfect spot to sit a while with your favourite people, chatting over breakfast, a morning coffee or maybe a cocktail before heading out to dinner. To the rear of the house you will find a second terrace raised to take in the view and furnished with an L-shaped outside sofa.

Return to base, kick off your shoes and get comfy on one of the sofas in the light and calm surroundings of the sitting-room. Enjoy the sea views framed spectacularly in the bay window and if you can tear yourself away from the ever-changing colours, get back to that book you've been meaning to read all year. For the cooks in the party rustle up breakfast, lunch or a full-blown feast in the Shaker-style kitchen and with a Stoves range cooker at your fingertips, an induction hob and an abundance of locally-grown produce to choose from, your guests will be in for a treat.

Morvoren is perfect for a family or group of friends staying at any time of the year, especially as it has not one but two stylish shower-rooms and a beautiful bathroom. When slumber calls head upstairs to bed, the house offers four comfortable bedrooms across a split-level landing with steps up to each room, a quirk of this lovely old house. One step up from the landing will take you to bedroom three and the bathroom, with a few more steps up to the main bedroom and twin room. The main bedroom at the front of the house has a luxurious super-king bed and a view of the ocean so you can enjoy your morning cuppa with a sea view, perfect! Bedroom four has a comfy king-size bed, tucked away at the rear of the house it has direct access to the secluded rear terrace.

Morvoren accommodates seven guests but has flexibility of beds.

Portscatho is the gem in the crown of the Roseland peninsula, a pretty fishing village with oodles of charm and character. Discover glorious countryside, breathtakingly beautiful beaches, and hidden coves. For your morning coffee and fresh pastries try Tatams with fabulous sea vistas or The Boathouse where you will find the freshest of home-cooked food for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the summer season. The Plume of Feathers has an excellent reputation for traditional pub food or head up the hill to The Standard and enjoy food cooked on the outdoor wood-fired grills.

Take an early morning swim from Tatams beach then stroll along the coast path that runs in front of Morvoren to the Hidden Hut at Porthcurnick beach where guests sit side by side on wooden benches dining on the freshest of local seafood. The beaches here are simply perfect for families, with sheltered shallow waters and rockpools to explore. Kayakers and paddle boarders, equipment can be rented locally, will have fun here too with miles of shoreline waiting to be explored. Walkers will be in heaven as the coast path runs through the village with easy access in either direction and your dog will be pretty happy with you too!

A car-free holiday could be on the cards here with so much close by but if you do decide to travel further afield head for the vibrant village of St Mawes, just a short drive away. Here you will find a plethora of eateries, from fine dining in waterside restaurants to fish and chips eaten from paper on the sea wall and everything in between. Take the passenger ferry from the harbourside to the maritime town of Falmouth where you will find a great selection of eclectic shops, galleries and a marvellous seafaring museum. Ferries also leave here for lesser-known locations such as the pretty village of Flushing and the very beautiful and tranquil Place.

Further afield the mighty biomes of the Eden Project await, or perhaps head for The Lost Gardens of Heligan, lost in time since WWI, discovered 30 years ago and now restored to their former glory. However you plan to spend your blissful holiday days, Morvoren is perfectly placed for all your Cornish adventures.
