Perhaps you're after a lazy day on the beach, building sandcastles and taking the odd dip in the crystal-clear waters and if the youngsters need to burn up some excess energy, the local park is just across to the lane.

If you do fancy venturing further afield St Austell Bay is dotted with a number of golden sand beaches and there's a fantastic choice of gardens to visit, including Heligan, Pinetum, Marsh Villa and of course, the Eden Project. The stylish sailing town of Fowey is nearby and is well worth a visit for itsrestaurants, cafes, boutiques and galleries, or perhaps kayak up the river to the little village of Lerryn, said to be the inspiration of Kenneth Graham's Wind in the Willows.
