If you love the sound of birdsong and a wonderfully peaceful location, book an escape to this wonderful rural retreat. Tucked away in the Cornish countryside, surrounded by fields and woodland, there are miles of rural rambles and cycle routes right on your doorstep and with the beaches, clifftop walks and waterside villages of Cornwall's north coast all close by this is a great base for a holiday.

Set all on one level, The Garden Lodge has a beautiful private garden which puts on a different display with the changing seasons and far reaching views of the rolling countryside beyond. It's the perfect spot to enjoy this blissfully rural setting from morning coffee to evening sundowners.

Inside, light and comfortable interiors await, with the living areas linking effortlessly together, so you can enjoy time together. The sitting-room certainly makes the most of the setting with large windows overlooking the garden and sliding doors leading out to the patio. And when it turns a little chillier, the warming wood-burner will keep you nice and toasty, making this a great choice for those out-of-season breaks.

Set in the grounds of the glorious Tredethy House, the lovely owners are on hand to give you a warm welcome but then leave you to enjoy your holiday. They invite you to explore their garden and historic woodlands which will delight young and old alike, not to mention any four-legged friends joining the party.

Sharing this lovely location is Laundry Cottage (5464), why not bring friends or family along too?

From this stunning base your choice of days out is endless. Dust off those walking boots and explore the wild rugged scenery of Bodmin Moor or head to the coast and take to the coastal path that promises stunning vistas around every corner. If you prefer pedal power, the Camel Trail is only half a mile down the road, winding its way through woodlands and along the Camel estuary eventually bringing you to the popular resort of Padstow where you can refuel on some of Rick Stein's fish and chips before making the return journey. If beach days are on the agenda, then your choice is endless. From the surfer's favourite at Polzeath to the more gentle waters of Daymer Bay or exploring the rock pools at Trebarwith Strand

The historic houses and gardens of Pencarrow and Lanhydrock are well worth a visit as are the pretty fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac, of Doc Martin and Fisherman's Friends fame, and this area is the jewel in Cornwall's foodie crown with more celebrity chefs and award-winning eateries than you can shake a stick at.
