Crantock village and its lovely sandy beach are very popular with visitors to this striking area of north Cornwall, and justly so. The Hermitage is a semi-detached, Grade II Listed, archetypal thatched cottage with whitewashed walls. Nestling in the centre of the village, guests approach through the little, enclosed front garden and are greeted with a wealth of original features as they step over the threshold. The sitting/dining-room, formerly two separate rooms, is spacious with ornamental fireplaces at either end of the room. Low beams, sloping ceilings and a very low lintel over the stairs enhance the character of this little cottage (tall guests must be wary). Upstairs, the two small bedrooms are attractively furnished with pretty linens and an ingeniously designed bathroom. The kitchen is well-equipped and looks out over the sunny patio, which is a real sun-trap and leads to the separate utility-room and sun-room. There is even an external heated shower, ideal for washing off sand or rinsing wetsuits. Guests will no doubt spend many evenings out on the patio, relaxing after a day at the beach.
