A good moorland walk that can be had starting from the church is St Breward, on the western side of the moor. The views will include Britain’s first commercial wind farm at Delabole, then the lovely wooded valley of the Camel estuary.

Head for open moorland or even the Camel Trail from East Rose.

The Blisland Inn (3.5 miles)
CAMRA National Pub of the Year 2001. Always a minimum of 6 real ales to choose from, this is a traditional pub offering home cooked food and a good atmosphere. There have been almost 1,500 real ales served from this inn over the years, a trend which seems set to continue.

Camelford (3.7 miles)
Camelford is an ancient Cornish market town through which the Camel river runs on its way to the coast at Padstow. The town itself has a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants, but it is perhaps Camelford’s surroundings that are the real draw here. Walkers are in heaven when they venture just outside Camelford to explore the moorland and climb two of Cornwall’s highest points, the tors of Brown Willy and Rough Tor; an extinct volcano. For the less energetic, a stroll along the river banks through Enfield Park is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
